This thing is a monster
It does seem like a quality piece. It's long and heavy. I bought this specifically to torque down my trucks lug nuts that require 163 lb-ft. With it being so long, 163 lb-ft was easy to torque down. My other torque wrench maxed out at 150 lb-ft. This did have some wear marks on it. I'm not sure if this is because the parts were banging around in a parts bin prior to assembly, but it does appear new. I just used it to torque down the trucks lug nuts and it works just fine so far. Like I said, this will be its main purpose, so it won't get used much. At this point, I recommend. Any future problems that may arise, I will try to remember to come back and update my review. I would have liked to take half a star off the rating for the wear marks, but I'll round up to 5 stars.

Simply quality tools at a fraction of the price
I'm in school for Auto Tech and I was looking for a torque wrench without breaking the bank. My tool box contains primarily snap on tools so I use those tools as a benchmark when evaluating new tools. My school also allows us to check out snap on torque wrenches to use when we are out practicing on cars. When comparing the "high end" professional grade tools to this Tekton, I have to say that this torque wrench is quality. Right when I opened the box, I noticed the flawless grey metallic finish. I picked up the torque wrench and if felt sturdy. All the parts on the torque wrench seems well made and is packed in a nice red hard case. I would say this is a must buy for those looking for a high quality torque wrench (within 4% accuracy) without spending the big bucks on a snap-on. The only thing that took me by surprise was that I didn't know how long/big this 25-250 ft lbs torque wrench was. The size of the wrench is rather long. In hindsight, it would make sense since it goes up to 250 ft lbs. I also purchased the 10-150 ft lbs version of this and it is a bit smaller than this one. Being 10-150 ft lbs, that version would fit my needs better for torquing common things such as wheel lug nuts. If I had to choose only one, I would pick the 10-150 ft lbs version simply because its a bit smaller and fits my needs better. Depending on your needs, you may want this one for torquing things that require more than 150 ft lbs. Overall, this torque wrench is very well made and would be an excellent addition to your tool box. I highly recommend this product to everyone.

Well built, works well, but ... too bad that the scale is not aligned horizontally (initially) ... seems to be getting better...
This wrench feels solid and appears to work well (have only had it a short time). My only complaint is the alignment of the scale; when aligning the "0" mark with the vertical line on the scale, the horizontal edge of the adjustment handle does not line up with the corresponding horizontal mark of the selected torque setting; it actually is below it. One way to figure out what the "0" aligned value is: start from the lowest setting and keep track of the revolutions (recurring "0" values) as the adjustment handle moves up the scale. A bit of a nuisance but will live with it. By comparison, my 22 yr old K-tool (NOT top of the line by any stretch) torque wrench has the markings line up perfectly with the scale. Actual operation is fine; not sure that it is worth it to send it back since the next one might be the same way. Nice looking unit, well built, functions well; too bad workmanship was not carried all the way through to the scale alignment. Because of the scale alignment issue, I gave the product 4 stars; everything else seems fine. Update: After using it a bit more, the horizontal scale discrepancy seems to have lessened. I store the wrench at the lowest setting, as recommended; maybe the various up and down rotations of the handle has "settled" the unit a bit more? Not sure. My K-tool and Capri torque wrenches are perfectly aligned with the horizontal scale when the vertical "0" is lined up. The Tekton seems to be getting there; hopefully it will stay put at a good horizontal scale alignment; time will tell. I have upgraded this wrench to 5 stars because of the improving horizontal scale alignment; it is such a well built piece and a pleasure to use.

Good for shearing bolts and breaking knuckles. (please read update)
Junk. First time out of the box, using it to torque 100 ft/lbs on a sway bar link, no click, no click, no click, shear the bolt. Checked it against one of the old beam style wrenches, not even close. One smashed thumb and a bolt that is hard to find a replacement for, won't be buying this brand again. Yes, I watched and followed the instructions, not new to mechanics. Guess it will make a great paper weight as I see no return option. Update: I'm an idiot. When I'm wrong I admit it and I was most definitely wrong in this case. When I was setting the torque value I was setting one setting too high which isn't hard to do, the markings are a little ambiguous but once I figured out to set it at the very bottom of the torque value it worked like a charm.

Getting a Little Torqued Torqueing
It's a decent looking tool, nice and long so you can easily hit some of the higher torque specifications. I did try and dial it up to the higher torque settings and it wouldn't make it, turning the dial became difficult. I'll have to experiment with that more and update this review. Also, when torquing bolts after the third or fourth use the ratcheting part in the head seemed to be locking up ... well, it was definitely locking up. I checked the lever and it appeared to be in the correct position. As I have progressed it is becoming more frequent. The problem fades if I hold the wrench level and don't put any angular pressure on the ratcheting part/head. I still have a ways to go so plenty of more opportunity to use the wrench. I'm sure I'll be raising or lowering the stars for this item. I recently realized I am starting to gather a bunch of Tekton products, they seem to be decent in both quality and functionality. This torque wrench has me a little worried though. Reviews were okay but I really bought it because the Tekton people were active in the reviews and the tool has a lifetime warranty. Hopefully I won't have to use it. *** Update *** A Tekton rep had contacted me about my issues but I had not gotten back to him yet. Today, after maybe the third use, the wrench has completely locked up, it will not ratchet forward or backward. I will continue to update this review as I contact Tekton and see what my options are. *** Update *** Sure I had updated this review already, sorry Tekton folks. Assuming you have a problem with your Tekton product the people and warranty are top shelf. They were great to work with and no BS at all. I have several Tekton products all of which have been excellent, this was my first issue with one of their items. This was my first time using their customer service and the experience has alleviated any fears of continuing to acquire Tekton products.

Great torque wrench
This torque wrench looks very well built and very solid. I used it to tighten crankshaft pulley bolt to 181 lb ft, and also for tightening lug nuts. Worked great. The only minor drawback is that the scales on the knurled handle (the black handle) and the tool handle do not line up perfectly. You just need to use the scale on the knurled handle as your precision scale. For example these two photos show the wrench set at 25 and 50. For the cost of this tool, that minor drawback is not an issue for me.

Solid and easy to use...
I needed a torque wrench for a 175 ft/lb hub bearing nut. My existing torque wrench only went to 150 ft/lbs so I shopped around for a larger torque wrench. After reading the reviews here on Amazon, and previous experience with Tekton, I purchased this wrench. This wrench is very solid and has some heft to it. The markings are very easy to read and you just set the torque and lock it with the nut on the bottom of the handle. The length gives you good leverage and the click is loud and clear. The head ratchets so you don't have to remove the socket when tightening nuts or bolts and the ratcheting is reversible but I didn't see if this wrench clicks in reverse. I don't plan on tightening left-handed hardware anytime soon. A nice plastic case keeps the wrench protected and remember to store the wrench with the torque removed. Set the wrench to zero and not all the way loose when storing.

Very nice looking wrench... great in the hands.. easy to read scale .. very pronounced click
This is my first torque wrench I owned personally I have always borrowed my friends or gotten one from the store on loan. I got tired of it so I sought to procure one of my own. I don't need a $nap-on I need something that will work for my needs that will not take away my entire tool budget for something that is not always required... I was at odds between a Harbor Freight and this one but after seeing some reviews by people that gave each a good run through its paces I chose to go with this. Yes I am aware torque wrenches are accurate and to be careful when at the top of the range... but still this one is a good value for its price and it feels really good in the hands ... the click is easily catch able ... I got this mainly for my lugnuts, axle bolts, crank bolt in mind ... i will probably grab their 3/8 one in the future as my motorcycle has pieces this big 1/2" might have issue with getting into...

Excellent build quality
This feels well made and very solid in the hand. It doesn't feel like cheapo stuff you would find at Horror Freight. That alone gives plenty of confidence. It's easy to use and easy to adjust, even with mechanics gloves on. There's a very nice and loud audible click when you reach your torque setting, as well as the click you can feel, even through gloves. For a guy that works on his cars often, but not often enough to justify a torque wrench costing hundreds of dollars, this one fits the bill. While I've spent my life working on my cars at home, I am not a full time mechanic, and I do not profess to having a calibrated "elbow" where i can gauge how much torque I've put on a bolt. When it comes to certain things, there's a reason to do it right, and the money I spent on this torque wrench I consider "insurance" to know that the brake caliper bolts on my wife's car won't go flying off while she's driving with my kids, or that I'll mess up my transfer case because I've over-tightened a bolt causing a leak and subsequent damage. The plastic case is nice, although nothing fancy. The included paperwork came with certification of calibration. I returned the Husky brand one I got from the orange big box hardware store and decided to keep the Tekton. And I read plenty of reviews here that mention the excellent customer service by Tekton who stand behind their product, so I'm quite content and happy with the purchase.

Surprised at the quality, pleased with the price. A great buy!
I don't often need a 250 foot pound rated torque wrench and was reluctant to spend a giant pile of cash to torque the occasional axle nut. However i also feel that if the manufacturer has provided a torque spec then the item deserves more than a Harbor Freight grade torque wrench for the job. This Tekton tool fits the bill perfectly. It has a very nice solid precise quality feel. Heavy all metal construction feels good in the hand. Long for easy leverage. The click at torque is plenty loud and also is easy to feel in the hand. The knurled lock nut holds the setting securely. Markings are clearly etched and easy to read. Nice molded case for storage too. It appears that Tekton has moved up the quality ladder. For what it is worth, the "about us" section of the Tekton website comes across with a rather uncommon sincerity. Give it a read if you have a moment. I like this quote: "Our tools are designed to work better and cost less than the competition's because we realize that tools, like many things, don't have to be expensive to work well—they need to be made well to work well." Keep in mind that unfortunately there are plenty of people who seem to be able to break a good anvil with a plastic hammer. Torque wrenches require proper care and the proper method of use to remain accurate and give a long life. I have complete confidence that this Tekton tool will outlast me.
