Slice and dice easy!
Amazing how much easier it is to prep vegetables when the knife is sharp. This is the perfect size for most of my cutting needs. I mostly eat vegetables, requires cutting with almost every meal. This knife fits easily in my small hands, good weight, textured grip and a pretty color for a bit of fun. The cover was hard to slide on/off when I first received it. After a few washes and uses, the cover slides nicely to protect the edge while in the kitchen drawer. The knife washes up nicely, no staining. I do hand wash and allow it to air dry in my dish drainer. Good price for a simple good product. I don't need fancy, this works just fine.

Good quality.
I mean what can I say, I've wanted to invest in a great chefs knife, but whenever I want to go shopping on amazon I can't because this knife serves me very well. It's already given back more in value than I would ever have expected for the price! It lost it's edge after owning it for months but I had been meaning to learn to sharpen knives and it's right back to being a great all around knife again. I'll be honest I have no idea where the sheath went. It disapeard months ago, but with constant cooking for just myself and for the occasional potluck it has served me amazingly in every area of the kitchen! There has been no wear and tear on the stainless steal blade or the plastic handle. I just think it's a good value blade. :)

I find that my blade is still pretty sharp and the knife still works very well
I've been using this knife for ages (ordered it last year ago, actually). I find that my blade is still pretty sharp and the knife still works very well. However, I make sure to always wash my knife right after using it (for example, right after I make lunch) and then immediately drying the blade after washing. I put the cover back on the knife and put it away. I find this helps to sustain the life of the blade as well as keep it from rusting! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a good, sharp (and cheap!) knife :) Has helped me out this past year of college apartment life.

OBSESSED WITH THIS KNIFE!!!
I purchased this knife six years ago and it is seriously my FAVORITE knife. It stays sharp for so long before needing sharpened (I have only sharpened it a few times in six years) and it is the perfect size! I love to cook and spend a lot of time chopping veggies so a good knife is crucial. Zyliss is a fantastic brand as well. I just bought five more of these knives (four for Xmas gifts and one for myself as an extra.)

My favorite knife!
These are the best! I've bought one for every kitchen I frequent and giving away as gifts. In fact, I usually keep an extra around so when people comment on them, I can give them one on the spot! There is also one in my van and camping kit, well protected by their sheaths. The knife is wonderfully sharp, hardly seems to dull at all and sharpens nicely when it does. The size and shape are perfect for all-around use - if I could only have one knife, this would definitely be it. It's well-balanced, inset enough to not hit your knuckles, rounded enough to chop garlic on the counter, and has a nice grip on the handle. Dry it before putting into the cover, and never cover it dirty, and you won't have to worry about grossness inside the sheath (which seems like if would be hard to clean). Keep your fingers outside the sheath when inserting the knife and you'll be fine - I never thought that a problem until reading other reviews. Oh, and it's PURPLE!!! Really nice purple too... I still can't believe how cheap these are for such a high-quality product. I can't imagine what the expensive ones would have over this...

The utility knife for me
I have been buying the orange Zyliss knife for a few years which in my opinion was the best, but this purple one is also fantastic. It is larger and easily handles jobs like cutting meat or peeling pineapples.

This is the finest knife I have ever owned
This is the finest knife I have ever owned! I use it for preparing almost every single meal (I am a vegan, with celiac disease & a lot of other digestive issues, so I eat a lot of fruits & veggies, & have to prepare all of my own food myself). It hasn't become the least bit dull in the months that I have used it, & it feels great & fits very comfortably in my hand (I have osteopenia in both of my hands/wrists/arms), & I am quite taken with the rich purple color. I also like that it has a sheath, it makes me feel a little bad ass whenever I unsheath it. Simply put, I love this knife. I highly recommend it.

Wow!!! Sharpest knife I ever owned.
I had this knife for awhile now. All I can say is wow!!! This knife is awesome! I wanted to test it out and it passed every test. It cut thru a little charred tri tip with no problem. This is when I also noticed the grip is great. Makes it easier to cut with. I also tried playing around with holding a plastic bag and flicked the knife past the bag with no tension on the bag to allow the knife to cut it and it did cut it like butter. I also had one of those packages where you can't open the plastic case it's in. The only way is to cut through. I used this knife and it cut through the plastic with no problem. I used lots of knives to open those impossible hard plastic covered products and this knife cuts with no problem. I also used it to easily cut through some very thick zip ties. My friend was cutting some ham at my place with this very knife and he misjudged how sharp it was and cut himself. It's sharp sharp sharp. How long will it last? I dunno but for this price, you could buy one every 3 months and it would still be a bargain. I assure you this knife does it's job. I had originally bought it for the sheath so that I can take it camping and not accidentally cut myself while I pack and unpack my gear. Should I catch a fish, I will gut it with this knife too. 4/6/2013 I was cutting some tomatoes with this and I use my fingernails to guide my cutting. Usually, the knife slide off your fingernails to whatever you are cutting. In this case, the blade is so sharp it actually was cutting into my nails. Pretty impressed so far. Not bad for the price. I'm buying more of this brand in all it's sizes for sure from now on.

Can't beat it for the money!
One of the most used knifes in my kitchen! And for the price, you can't get any better. I use this 5.5. and the 3.5 all the time and love them. They hold their edge very well and are well balanced for a plastic handle knife. You're never going to get the same weight as a more expensive knife, but that's not what you're going for if you're buying this type of a knife. I'm not as much of a fan of their larger (I think 7.5) chef's knife; that's when you can really feel the difference on the weighted handle. However, this purple 5.5 in is great for chopping, slicing, and any "around the kitchen" type job; truly a Utility paring knife that I thoroughly enjoy. I've bought two as a gift for other people (including my mom!).

Sharp and easy to grip
An extremely sharp knife, nicely balanced, with a comfortable grip. I found it to be excellent for cutting vegetables, apart from tomatoes, which are best served by a serrated blade, to grip the smooth skin. The sheath helps protect the blade from being hit by other objects in a drawer. I saw some reviewers complained about rust, and I think an explanation is in order. First, no steel is truly "stainless"; all steel with rust at some point, and the various stainless steel formulations can only provides a limited degree of resistance. Second, when producing stainless steel, there's a trade-off between hardness and rust resistance. For a knife to have a sharp blade, and remain sharp over time, one must choose the harder, less resistant steel type. Other uses, like pots, can use softer grades of steel, which are more resistant. So, to prevent rusting, it is important to wash the knife, by hand, shortly after use, and dry it immediately - if you soak it, or keep food remnants on it, it will rust. This advice is true for any knife, especially the higher quality ones. Following this procedure will easily prevent the appearance of rust on any blade.
