Great value, brighter than others with a 60W bulb capacity

I bought this desk lamp for my Mother who has macular degeneration needs a strong light that she can adjust close to what she's working on to read her bills and write out her checks each month. This desk lamp worked perfectly for her, other similar portable battery operated LED desk lamps I bought her were not bright enough for her to read bills and write checks. Even with the corded plug-in desk lamps of this design most allow only a 20w or 40w (or LED equivalent) bulb. This lamp takes a 60w (or LED equivalent) bulb and is brighter. I bough the 4 pack of Philips B01AHLY6WO 4pk 8.5W=60W LED Soft White A19 Bulbs for $5.37 and they were great bulbs at a great value. Summary: If this works for my 81 year old mother with macular degeneration it'll work for you :)

I honestly am SO glad I purchased this desk lamp! It's super convenient, and small enough to fit just about anywhere on the desk with enough room for other items. Plus, it's easy to work, which is always nice. (; I turned on this lamp in my pitch black room and it lit up the entire room. It'll work perfectly for that time when doing college homework rolls around. I would definitely recommend purchasing this lamp!

I purchased the cheapest desk lamp there was to put my new smart-bulb in. For this purpose, I give it 5 stars after factoring the price. The neck is bendable and there is a simple on/off switch at the base of the lamp. The bulb I'm using is a Type A LED bulb so it does not get hot at all. No complaints with this desk lamp and I highly recommend it, if you are just looking for a basic light source.

Yeah - - as pointed and installed twisted backwards, the balance was a bit off - - easily fixed with a brick (or a rock) AND - - I needed another 12" to reach the power plug (I had some short extensions on hand) BUT still Perfect for my application

A Lamp I Can Read By

A couple of years ago the small desk lamp I had been using stopped working when its on-off button no longer worked, so I bought a lamp similar to this but a little bigger. However, its on-off switch was attached to the power cord, making it a big awkward to turn on and off. When I saw this electrical lamp with the on-off switch on the base, I gave it a try, and very glad I did. I admit I am not sure of the wattage of the bulb as it is the same one I had used for the prior lamp, but it gies me sufficient light to read by which is its basic purpose. It seems to stand upright and it not easily tipped over when I turn it on or off. I easily placed the shade where I needed it, and have not needed to replace the bulb yet. I had also ordered a battery-operated lamp I will review separately which I found was difficult to stay on because the batteries were not very snug in the compartment, but I feel when this one stops working, I can use that lamp while re-ordering this baby again..

NICE LAMP; BUDGET PRICE = GOOD DEAL

I read through the reviews before my purchase. I agree with another poster that anyone who got a defective lamp should return it to Amazon. I figured 70% five star ratings was a good sign. My current desk lamp has a broken base and was waiting for a replacement when I had the $$. I did hesitate over the low price, fearing it might be not be such a good lamp. But being short on funds, I took the jump and ordered it this month. And........I love this little lamp. It's white, so it has a clean, sleek appearance. The gooseneck is easy to move with one hand. It can be aimed almost anywhere, so I don't have to move it around on my desk. (That's how the other one got broke.) Of course it gets hot; all metal shade lamps do. I don't use it for long periods of time, so not a factor. Most of all, I love the rocker switch. I hope it lasts a while because I may just get a couple more when the budget allows. I am pleased.

Perfect little light

This little gem is exactly what I was looking for. I wanted a small lamp for my bedside table and this one fit the bill nicely! I like that I can aim it all the way up and over to the ceiling to get the maximum amount of light. I also liked the black and white color scheme. It's great that it is painted metal because it's nice and sturdy. I use a LED bulb in the lamp so that it doesn't get hot and heat up the metal shade. I think the switch on the base is genius. In the past I've had lamps like this that had switches on the top, and that is so inconvenient. Others said they had trouble with the switch, but I have not, it works perfectly every time. Great value for under $10. Love it!

Litle but Mighty

This lamp is fabulous for those of us who need a little extra light for our computer desks! I do a certain amount of word processing, and this is just the size to light up the keyboard and the copy. It does not burn up with the 40 watt bulb I have in it. I don't spend hours at the computer, so the little extra light is perfect. My desk is small and this fits perfectly. I am so happy with it!

Good basic lamp, bends and turns well for directional lighting when I need it

This was just what I needed. I wanted an inexpensive lamp that I could direct the light from. I wanted it for a bit of extra light for when I am photographing small things, reading, and at times testing light bulbs. :) It works great- I am able to point it about any way I want, and I love that it has a form factor that about anyone knows, as it is a fairly common type of lamp. It also fits the LED grow light I have, which has a pretty big bulb. Mine came in pristine perfectly clean condition. In included a few photos so you could see how it bends and turns.

I LOVE LAMP

This has been a very nice desk lamp. I use it all the time. for me the button is in a weird place. So now I just keep it on all the time. I have it hooked to Alexa with the philip hue bulb so I just tell Alexa to turn in on and off for me instead of having to hit the oddly placed switch. By doing it this way it keeps it in the on position all the time. and using Alexa with it. I can dim the bulb or brighten it with words.. somethign this lamp cannot do on its own.. This lamp is a great addition to any desk if you have Alexa.
