This has been a long time coming in my opinion. I have been looking for a dimmer switch that can act BOTH as a dimmer or a regular on-off switch. This is IT! Installation is easy, and the dimmer works on both incandescent or led lights. Once I loaded into my WeMo app on the phone, I was in business. The only CON that I can think of is that there is no DEFAULT setting for the dimmer. So, if you turn on your lights and set the dimmer to say 50% and then turn off your lights. The next time you turn them on, they will be at 50%. There is a night mode in the app that can probably be set to overwrite this, but then you can't use the night mode for what it is intended for. It's not a big deal, but where I have my lights, my family will often adjust the lights for a dim mode without putting them back to 100%. Setting up to Alexas was easy too. "Alexa, turn bar lights to 40%" works great! I now have about 6 of these in my house and they are the BEST!

Truly love this switch and the technology behind it. I have been upgrading my home with several WiFi based devices, and for a long time, I have been wanting to update multiple light switches with WiFi capability, allowing me to remotely operate them while away, as I hate coming home to a dark house - an obvious sign (at night) that no one is home with all the lights off. After seeing multiple mixed reviews, I was hesitant about making the purchase, so I went ahead and ordered (2) switches to operate my front outdoor lights & entry way lights, allowing me to test the switches to see if they would function well. A friend assisted me with the installation, and the process was uneventful, and I am very happy with the aesthetics of the switches themselves - specifically of the small Green power symbol when the lights are on, and the small White light that is emitted when powered off - handy to navigate towards when dark, versus "feeling" for the light switches as before. Others have complained about the app and other aspects of the functionality, but I am very pleased with the way the light switches work, along with the app as well. Pairing the lights to the app and using the app is very easy. Further, the ability to setup my front outdoor lights to come on at dusk at turn off at dawn (also accounting for the time change correctly) is an awesome feature, as I literally never need to turn these lights on or off again - fantastic. After a few weeks of use, I did receive a prompt for a firmware update, which I was happy about - makes me feel that the manufacturer is making improvements and correcting any issues that may be at play. However, I have had zero complaints so far, and I am sure more updates will be en-route with new features. The sky truly is the limit with technology like this, as change is simply a firmware update / app update away. So far I have had the switches installed for close to a month, and they have worked flawlessly. I love having control over the lights when I am away - the perfect example of me being able to turn on my entry way light while out shopping with my wife, making it seem as if someone was home, which is what I appreciate the most. Further this with IFTTT technology and many other cool features that can be utilized via the app, and this switch is well worth the money. Overall, I am very impressed with this light switch system, and already have friends & family that will be installing them after seeing my switches at work. Now that I have a feel for this switch and know of its reliability, I will be purchasing (8) more to outfit many other lights in my home, giving me a massive amount of control over my home when away. Excellent product - a must have for anyone wanting to bring some smarts to their home!

Love my WeMo smart light switch!! I have two so far (one for the front outside lights and one for the back outside lights). The installation was super easy and took me approximately 30 minutes to complete on the first attempt and 10 minutes for second one. I had never replaced any light switches and was almost about to call an electrician to do this. I'm glad I did not, this is a very much DYI type of work even if you have zero experience, just make sure you TURN OFF the associated breakers! The light switch fit in my existing wall plate, which holds two switches so therefore I could not install it with the one that came in the package. It looks great and I like the fact that the small power button will turn on green when the switch is on. The initial configuration is also very simple and all steps can found on either the instruction manual or within the app itself. Speaking of the app, the WeMo app for iPhone/iPad is also great. First of all, you do not need to create an account in order to manage your smart light switch. The instructions are straight forward and in my opinion, anyone with little computer knowledge should be able to successfully setup the smart light switch. I like the fact that you can enable rules to turn on/off your switch at either specific times and on specific days, or for sunrise and sunset. This is extremely convenient if you live alone or simply are always forgetting to turn on/off your outside lights. Also, if you ever need to reconfigure your switch because you either changed routers or you changed your WiFi SSID name, you can easily reset the switch to factory settings (keep in mind this will delete any configurations you previously had on the Wemo app). Belkin has a very handy YouTube video that can show you how to easily do this. I also like the fact that the WeMo light switch can integrate with Amazon Alexa. The configuration is done through Alexa app and all you have to do is download the Wemo smart home skill and then let Alexa discover your light switch. Once completed, you can create Groups (if you have multiple smart switches) and give them a name such as "outside lights". When I tell Alexa to "turn on the outside lights", it turns on both my front and back outside lights -- pretty neat! Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my purchase. Since I somehow committed to Wemo devices, I will most likely continue to buy more in the future. I do not want to have to manage different devices via different apps, unless they are compatible with Amazon Alexa.

This light switch and the other outlet style plug has worked reliably for over 3 years. There would be occasional hiccups like power interruptions that cause the switches to restart, but they have never failed on me. However, you are at the mercy of your internet connection and if you happen to be away while the network crashes, you won't be able to communicate with the switches. The daily programs will continue to work regardless. Setting this up properly does require some networking knowledge and how to properly implement security. The switches both work on hidden and broadcasted SSID Wifi networks. Half of my switches work on the hidden SSID and the other half are connected to the broadcasted SSID. They do support security password keys, but if you want an extra layer of protection, turn on your router/basestation's MAC address control to enable only recognized and authorized devices access to your wireless network. I have assigned static IP address to these switches by way of their MAC addresses, to avoid IP conflict when power cycling happens to my router. This is the general rule for all of my stay-at-home devices. Update 2017 My eleventh switch will be arriving tomorrow. The first switch I bought in 2013 is still working to this day. All switches are still working reliably. Works perfectly with NEST thermostat, Amazon Echo and IFTTT. Update Dec 2017 1. The WEMO App first lets you name each switch and then allows you to set up "Rules" for unattended on/off times to a switch or a group of switches. So that a switch or a group of switches will turn on/off at a scheduled time. 2. The Amazon Alexa App allows you to first create intelligent named "Groups" of switches, such as "Exterior Lights", "Interior Lights", "Living Room Lights", so you can use voice control to address them in a meaningful way. "Alexa, turn off Living Room Lights" or "Alexa, turn off All Lights." 3. IFTTT will integrate all the functionality of your smart devices with WEMO and ALEXA (NEST and others too). i.e. The GPS in a smart phone can be used to create an invisible fence that can turn WEMO switches on/off as you pass in/out of its perimeter. My living room lights and exterior lights come on when I'm about half a mile from home. NEST can also sense I'm coming home and start cooling/heating the house. The are thousands of "recipes" ready to use. With these three Apps together, there are thousands of possibilities to automate your home if you are willing to experiment. These are just some of the ways I use mine. Update March 2018 1. Recently purchased the Wemo Mini Smart Plug to make the uplights in the kitchen cabinets smart. Set up was easy but I first had to add the switch's MAC address to my basestation before connecting to one of my home's SSIDs. 2. That makes twelve switches and all are active and functioning as you can see. 3. The Wemo App is very laggy, but luckily with voice activation, I rarely launch the app except to take screenshots. I use Alexa's voice recognition instead. The Mac version of the app needs to support higher resolution displays like the Android one does.

The Wemo app leaves something to be desired. I had to end up deleting and reinstalling it on my iPhone for it to fully function with this switch. However, the switch looks and works great! I love that you can use it like a regular switch and control it remotely. I bought it to control and outside light. When our home was originally constructed, there was only one back door, and the switch for this light was next to it. However, we have since converted a window into an additional back door, and the switch was in another room compared to that door. Now we can turn on the light without having to go into the other room. Pros: • Switch works both manually and remotely • Green indicator light lets you know when the light is on • Reset and restart switches are easily accessible and nicely hidden at the same time Cons: • Wemo app is just not that great Tips: • While it is understandable, the switch's box is large and doesn't leave much room for the wires in the junction box. If you can, install a larger wall box to mount this in. • Strip a little extra off of the wires so that they are easier to connect to existing wires with wire nuts • If you are mounting in a box where you are connecting to multiple wires, you might want to have larger wire nuts on hand

This dimmer installed without a lot of fuss. One may have trouble with swapping the live input (black) and output (red) wires, as a "normal" dimmer may work fine with either of those switched, as the dimmer just changes pulse width, which would work on either input or output. This is a relatively complex dimmer electrically, so the order matters. The instructions were good as far as troubleshooting; if they are reversed the dimmer just won't work. This connected to the app just fine, and you can choose whether you have incandescent, CFL, or LED bulbs, and the dimmer calibrated to my LEDs instantly. There are some limitations on current, so really you're not going to run 10 incandescent lights off this; 1-5 should be OK in just about all cases. I've also paired it with Alexa and Google Home without issue. It worked just as it should. One thing to keep in mind is that the dimmer does require a "neutral" wire; this is usually the white one behind your wall (and the black one is the "hot" line). Most light switches do not really need this, as they have the live input, output, and ground (green wire). My old dimmer did not use the neutral, and this line was sort of buried way back in the wall, with no lead. I had to tap into it to make one. Not a big deal really, but something to be aware of. It is noted on the package, so that's fair. It would probably be good to make this more prominent in the listing, though, as installing this dimmer to replace a switch or dimmer with no neutral line starts pushing this into a "medium" difficulty job rather than an "easy" one. In terms of behavior, it does brighten and dim when you turn these on/off. I'd say it's about 0.25 seconds to turn on full brightness, and 0.5 seconds to go from full brightness to off. I didn't expect this, but it's fine, and is NOT like the first-generation LED bulbs that had a noticeable delay in turning on.

Love my WEMO switches. I now have 4 connected to my Amazon Echo. Received my switch in great shape....Easy to install, Instructions included explain it all...simple turn off your power and follow the diagrams. Even I could do it with no problem, The light switches controls important lights. We have one on our front entry that we have programmed to automatically turn on based on sunset and turn off at a specific time. The 2nd one is on demand on our front patio. What I love is I can turn it on using my Amazon Echo Alexa app. The 3rd is for our "doggie light". Our dogs are confined to the bedroom when we are out. The lights are set to turn on around 7pm if we are not home, so our dogs don't have to sit around in the dark. This latest one is for my pantry light. I often forget to turn it off after retrieving things...Instead of having to walk around my kitchen island to go back and turn it off, I can simply say "Alexa, pantry off" and it is done! I love that we can control the light remotely through our iPhone. This way, people don't know if someone is actually home to turn the light on and off. Works great and is a real asset to any home Best switched out there!

This switch never lets me down. I have other brands of Wifi switches that work on and off with Alexa and Google Home. This switch works every....single....time. I won't go into too much detail. It was very easy to install because it comes with the colored wires that I simply matched to my outlet. Because the wires come from this device, I just had to pop the cap on and voila, that's it - vs. other switches where I have to take the wires, re-twist or shave them and put them into a slot in the switch. Software is dead easy to use. You can't possibly mess up installation. Has some pretty nice modes and settings for automation after the fact. One mode I really like is auto-off mode. My home is semi automated. I have Amazon Echos AND Google Homes in almost every bedroom. I have wifi bulbs all over the place. Every closet and bathroom has an occupancy/vacancy sensor which turns on when someone goes in, stays on for as long as they're in there and then goes off shortly after they exit. You can't really use an occupancy sensor with a bedroom, well, you can, technically. You can use something that you manually turn on and will stay on for as long as it detects motion and turns off automatically when you leave. I wanted a dimmer for my master bedroom and it's very nice to know that I can enable this sort of behavior with this device when I want it. This is a bit more expensive than others you may see out there but in many ways, it's very much worth it. I will wait until it goes on sale and buy one for every bedroom in my home eventually.

While the paperwork says it is "Not compatible with 3-way (multi location control) switches", we used a little engineering logic and got it installed in our kitchen 3-way light circuit (2 switches). When we opened the electrical box in the wall where we want to install the Wemo, and we saw the Romex circuit jacket with Red, White, Black, and Green/bare wires coming up thru the bottom of the box. Then we saw another set of White, Black, and Green/bare going up through the box to the overhead ceiling light circuit. So, obviously we connected all the Green/bare wires together. Connected all the White wires together. Now here was the tricky part. The bottom circuit has the traditional hot Black wire, and a second control Red wire coming from the other 3-way switch across the kitchen room. Since the Red wire is really controlling the ON-OFF power between the two existing kitchen switches, it was logical to assume this Red wire was a Hot Power wire (just like the Black) from the other kitchen switch. The Wemo has 2 Black wires to connect to. One is the power IN, and the other is power OUT--as per the instructions, it makes no difference which one we connected to (nice). So we connected the Red control wire to one of the Wemo Black wires, and then connected the other Wemo Black wire to the two existing Black wires in the wall box (remember: one hot Black is coming from the other kitchen switch and the other hot Black is going up to the lights in the ceiling. ). We connected all 3 Black wires together---at first kind of strange, but think about it: we wanted power on all the time, and let Alexa control the On-Off function. Sure enough, the unit worked. Here is the downside. As long as the other 3-way kitchen switch is OFF, Alexa and Wemo work just fine. The good news is, we can still manually turn On-n-Off the light circuit with the other kitchen switch (old habits are hard to die)---but when we do that, it kills the power to the new Wemo switch and Alexa does cannot find it to control it. But we just have to get used to using Alexa, and keep the other regular 3-way kitchen switch in the 'off' position---pretty simple. The one complaint we have is that we had to go thru a double WiFi process. Unlike the Phillps Hue light bulbs, where Alexa recognizes the light bulb within the Alexa phone app Smart Home/Add Device commands (nice-n-easy/simple 1-2-3)-----another new Wemo App must be downloaded, then use this new App to search for the Wemo wifi using your phone Settings Wifi routine, then pair with the Wemo wifi, then update the Wemo software (it asked me if we wanted to update to the current version--obviously yes), and once it is paired with the Wemo wifi, we had to go back to the Alexa App and do the Smart Home/Add Device search to find the Wemo Switch. Sure wish these other 3rd party manufacturers figure out how Phillips Hue did it, and install the same chips, etc in their products, thus avoiding the added Wemo App work. If I asked any of my other family members to do this installation, their eye balls would just fall out---it was tough enough to get the family trained to just do a simple telephone Settings/Wifi search when we go to other friends homes, let alone a double process for this Wemo product. Please make it simple plug-n-play. Now that we have gone thru the PITA APP process, we will buy more to install, as we are very satisfied with the product performance.

Before I purchased the WEMO, I had purchased the Litron Smart Dimmer but after spending closed to an hour, it failed to recognize my LEDs and refused to turn them on. I have installed two WEMO smart switches before and have been pretty happy with them, so I thought I should give WEMO a try as I really want to install that as part of my smart home devices. The installation was pretty straight forward, connect the four wires with provided nut caps and labels (ground, line, neutral, and load). Once installed, you'll be prompted to set it up via its internal wifi (no internet yet). Once it's setup successfully, it would do the calibration to ensure your LEDs are compatible. No issues here when comparing to the Litron, at all!!! I was able to use Google assistant to issue commands without any issues. I can't be any happier. This is definitely a good buy. P.S. Though I didn't even bother to read the manual, I did turn off the breaker during the whole process, up until the installation is completed. Safety first!
