After working for days with various hardware and software that claimed to be "the solution" for extracting and working with files from a Sony Handycam super 8 formatted tape, I finally came across the Dazzle Converter. It IMMEDIATELY delivered a conversion, with little or no instruction needed and allowed instant editing! All the claims of everyone else, both in software and in hardware, should take heed and try to 1) Make their claims about their tools really work; 2) make their use as eloquent as that of Dazzle. I'm quite happy, as is my daughter who was the recipient of the DVD containing footage taken of her three children made when they were infants!

Very Good Buy

Easy to setup and use. The software is basic and easy to use, The tutorials that are linked to the help screen are easy to follow and understand. I have converted about 25 VHS tapes to digital over the past 3 weeks. Each project has become easier with more experience. A more serious user who wants to go farther than I am, may want to consider the software upgrade. However, the basic package perfectly serves my purpose,

Worked like a charm

I tried other converters that were poor quality and didn't work. Then I came across this (I don't know how I missed it when I was first looking for a converter). I installed the software, plugged this in and was able to resurrect my Sony DCR-PC110. I'm getting quite nostalgic watching and transferring my old tape videos.

Editing software will take some learning.

It worked very well for my purpose. Easy to connect and convert videos from my vcr into my pc. The editing software is not intuitive and I have had problems with editing. When I have time(next month) I plan to purchase tutorials to see if that helps.

Easy to use with no issues with compatability or use.

I spent a lot of time reading reviews of many devices. Then in an effort to be thrifty I purchased an economical device. I could not get it to work and returned it. I was leery of spending the amount for this product when many reviews said the experienced many different problems mostly surrounding drivers. I wanted to plug and play. So I purchased this device and when it came followed the directions that came with it. I had zero problems. It was also easy for me to get started and figure out. My computer was just purchased so any driver issues may have been with older windows versions. I already have studio 20 so that is what I will be using for editing. I transferred all of my old VHS and VHSC tapes. I had well over 150 of them. There were no issues with copyright errors that others experienced. This worked as good as one could expect. It did exactly as I wanted. Its a simple reliable product.

Easy to use, works great - save money

I bought this VHS to DVD Converter to digitize my old home videos, and honestly the most complicated thing about it is finding a VCR to play the tapes. It doesn't give you any options in terms of digital output, but the files are high quality MPGs, 224 kbps, 720x480, 29.97 frames/second. That's probably the highest quality you're going to squeeze out of an old VHS. I can't stress how simple and easy to use this device is. I'd recommend saving hundred of dollars on home video digitization by simply buying this product and doing it yourself.

FOR VHS ANALOG TO DIGITAL CONVERSION it's a winner!

works like a charm! i have a closed case HP envy 23 so no way to add a analog video capture/ tv tuner card - no pci . i have the power director software and it would not read any of the external capture devices i tried. dazzle has its own pinnacle movie making program which recognizes the signal from dazzle analog converter . piece of cake. so now i have two movie production programs but the hp has room to spare so no problems . HIGHLY recommend the dazzle it is the only option for anyone in a similar situation trying to preserve old school analog tapes in digital format and no pci slot for a capture card.

IT WORKS!

After reading all the negative comments about this I was very worried that it would not work with my old Sony Camcorder Hi8 tapes and my newer computer with Windows 10. I am so glad I bought it from Amazon rather then from Pinnacle at a savings cost of $30.00. IT WORKS! I downloaded software - already had the proper plugs. It played immediately but rather than sit thru entire video I tested a portion. It worked so I deleted it and then did the transfer - Only negative is you have to watch entire video you are dubbing in REAL TIME which can take a long time but my videos were mostly under 30 minutes. Then I used my Sony Vega 9 Movie Studio program to trim it and burn to a DVD. And it played! I am so glad I don't have to return another product. Amazing. That's all I can say and these tapes are from 1992 thru 2000 when camcorders were not digitized yet with SD cards. Soooo happy!

Works well on my Dell PC running Windows 10

As advertised. It does take a while to install. I installed it on a Dell PC with the Windows 10 operating system. It seems to work well on the system. The software takes a little getting used to. Loaded two VHS VCR tapes onto a DVD so far. Happy with the program in that I was able to convert the movies to digital format saving the memories.
