Exactly what I needed.
I DJ at a restaurant that gets extremely busy & has no sound dampening so it gets LOUD. I usually make it work by turning up my headphones but eventually I just got tired of that. Also, I'd like the drivers on my 'phones to last so I thought I'd give this a shot. I own bigger versions of these at the house & this little one didn't dissapoint. It gets loud enough to pierce through an LA dinner crowd & sounds fantastic. The driver does move quite a bit when you bump it but if you roll off the low frequency in the back it helps. Also, it tends to get kinda' hot but I haven't had an experience with it overheating to the point of cutting out. I've played on this bad boy for 4+ hours & all was good so I expect you to have the same experience. All in all, this was a great purchase. Just remember, speakers are the last thing on.. first thing off. Peace.

Great for all purposes.
Incredible speakers - punchy, but not muddy. High's are defined and crisp. Whether you're using them for listening as you relax, or for studio applications - these speakers kick ass! I ordered 2 - one of them came with a busted tweeter - but it's no problem to refund, ordered another one and it's awesome!

Worth more than they cost.
I bought a pair of gen 1 ROKIT 5's for my brother a few years ago, and I was really impressed with the way they sounded, so I went ahead and bought a pair of these for myself. I had no idea they had been updated twice! These things are fantastic. The bass response with those tiny drivers is really impressive, and as someone who used to do all my mixes with URI 12"'s and NS-10's I'm really impressed at how I can get the feel for what bass a larger speaker will give me, when listening through these. What I mean to say is, I used to use the URI's to get the full bore club power sound, and the NS-10's to hear what it's going to sound like everywhere else. With these ROKIT 5's, it seems like I can get a good feel for what the mix will sound like in all different applications, which is really impressive considering how much they cost! It could be that I'm finally benefiting from the years of experience, but I have to say I'm really impressed at the flat response and clarity of these things... especially for the price.

Excellent reference monitor, but be careful: the 8's are huge!
These reference monitors are superb. I'm using them in a pretty live room so I did boost the bass +2 dB and dropped the treble -2db. The sound fills out nicely with amazing clarity and separation. The stereo field is perfect. One caution: the 8's are very large for reference monitors! They fit snugly on either side of my computer monitor on a 48" wide desk. Make sure you have about 12" width available for each speaker. These are my first pair of Rokit monitors, having used NS10m's in the past. I highly recommend Rokit. You won't be disappointed!

Put down your ham sammich, men are talking
What? Whaaat? WHAA-? I can't hear what you're saying, my skull is friggin' caved in after turning this up to 50%. Grandma better have taken her heart pills or else this is going to get real sad real quick. These are the holy grail of sound for producing music on my DAW. The bass will keep the squirrels off your roof and cause your uncle to have flashbacks of the war.

Bright and complete sounds. 110-120 V ONLY! Beware
Really good system, I am actually really surprised that such small speakers generate such a complete soundscape. Highly recommend them (although I have no experience at all in studio monitors). My use is mostly for casual music listening and a few amateur music production. It is absolutely not clear in the description: this speaker comes with US socket and they are not auto switchable 110(120) - 220(240) V. The internal transformer is not easily convertible into 230V too. Hence you have to get a step down converter if you are in Europe or elsewhere with 220-240V. A 250W transformer works fine for both speakers (70W each). Consider an extra ~ 100-200$ if you don't have one, which may you reconsider the choice of getting the speakers from this seller.

You don't know what you're missing!!
I bought 2. They don't sound good, they sound perfect. Outstanding imaging, like wearing really good headphones. The headroom is amazing....and so far the've kicked a## on everything I've thrown at them. Hip hop, rock, alt rock, classical. I'll be getting a sub to mix down hip hop beats, but i don't think it would be necessary for most music. They aren't warm and fuzzy speakers. They reproduce sound the way it was originally mixed and allow you to make great mix downs.

Like hearing my favorite songs for the first time!
These speakers are AMAZING. Im so pleased with the sound quality and power! Listening to them is honestly like Im hearing the whole song for the first time! Hands down best speakers I've ever owned. My friend is a professional Dj and music producer. He uses the Yamaha HS8’s and just yesterday we set up my KRK Rokit 6’s identically so they could go head to head against the HS8’s. And for almost $400 dollars less than the HS8’s we both felt that the Rokits sounded warmer and more neutral.

They are really nice speakers. The bass sounds tight and accurate
They are really nice speakers. The bass sounds tight and accurate, with the dial set at 0 the low frequencies are quieter than my audio technica m50x headphones. Not a big deal since i can boost it if i wanted to. I keep the knobs at zero, to try to get as close to flat sounding as I can and adjust the eq in my computer. Midrange instruments like guitars and vocals sound fantastic as do highs. All around a very good sounding speakers. That said the cons these things are HUGE and very heavy. I'm a big fan of giant speakers but these will need some beefy stands if you plan to crank em up. Overall I'm very happy, yeah they're pricey but it's worth the money. Having two reference points is vital for mixing tracks. And even after I've found I still have to tweak the songs more after playing them through my car and cell phone. All in all its a good buy. I'd get these over the 5 or 8s if space is no issue. The 6 to me is the best all around size

Great near field monitors
Great near field monitors. I've used larger studio monitors in a home studio for some time, but was sorely missing the clarity of a good pair of near field monitors. In the past we had some Yamaha NS10's for mixing, but these have long since departed. I finally broke down and tried a pair of these little KRK 5's, they were just what I was looking for. A little less brash than the NS10, but still very balanced. They allow distinguishing and putting a magnifying glass on each area of the mix equally, which is exactly what I needed. They aren't the greatest sounding speakers for just listening to a groove, but I don't think they were designed to be. As a near field monitor, however, they are very honest to the mix. I would highly recommend these.
