I must say I am very very happy with this purchase and super excited to work on it. I have been looking for an easel for almost 1 year because I was not sure what to get. I roamed in stores like Michaels, hobby lobby and blick but always held myself back because it seemed very expensive especially for a budding artist with a limited budget. I think I made a great decision buying this one because it's everything one could ask for. This easel is very well finished, sturdy and guess what , you don't have to assemble it! It unfolds into this magnificent French easel! Plus you can use it as your art box, carry it around and use it as a table top easel too. The canvas holder is adjustable you can fit in upto 24 x36 canvases although I'm sure you can work with many other dimensions.

Easel is great.

This easel is great. It can be used as a table top easel or stand up. The drawer is very handy for keeping art supplies at hands reach. I also like that it is portable. I’m a beginner in oil painting but I’m certain this easel will help me create masterpieces. Look for originals by Van Gone. Lol. I recommend this easel.

Great value and a wonderful gift

I purchased this easel as a birthday gift for my fiance who is a hobby painter. I was originally budgeting for at least $150, but after reading all the positive reviews on this one I decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did because is just perfect for what he needs. It came ready to go- no assembly needed. There weren't any directions, so if you're not familiar with this style of easel it may take you a couple minutes to figure out all the adjustments. He sat and played with it for a little bit and was able to get accustomed with all the features fairly quickly. I like that it comes with a basic wooden pallet that fits in the storage area for traveling and also appreciate that it has straps for easy transport. We are going to take another reviewers advice about applying linseed oil to prevent it from drying out. You can tell that the wood will need to be maintained, but that is to be expected. One feature that I really appreciate is that the legs have rubber stoppers at the bottom so it won't damage our flooring. Overall, I think this is a great value. I'm sure there are fancier easels out there, but this is perfect for a hobbyist and actually quite a beautiful addition to our living room.

I bought this easel as an early Christmas gift for my Dad who sketches and paints often. The quality of the easel is quite good. It's very sturdy, and easily adjusts for standing or sitting. Dad prefers to paint while sitting, and it makes it much easier on his back rather than being hunched over his old drafting table. It was a very worthwhile purchase that will ideally see many years of use going forward.

Beautiful easel with a ton of space.

My little sister is a painter and I got this for her birthday. She bloody loves it. It's so so so cute. It's a little heavy, so not great if you're taking a long hike to paint, but it's definitely portable and pretty compact. It also fits a TON of stuff in the drawer. I got her a whole set of paints and a huge set of paintbrushes, plus a bunch of little rags and a large palette – it all fit into the drawer and closes up to carry. Totally would recommend. It also looks beautiful set up in her bedroom. The legs and adjustments were a little bit tricky to figure out, but not tricky enough to bother me. Might be helpful to have two people to prop it up initially. Everything is super adjustable though, which is another perk.

Sturdy, easy to assemble

Sturdy, easy to assemble. If you have trouble, there are videos on YouTube to teach you exactly ow to get it up and standing. You can also paint with it on a table, which is also good. Easily adjustable to your size/height/painting style-comfort level. If you're looking for a French Style Easel, this is a good one, IMHO. It's all here. My biggest concern before buying would be the sturdiness of the legs. I am satisfied after purchasing.

The Perfect Portable Easel

This portable easel is very sturdy, and easy to set up and take down. It also adjusts to different heights for different canvases, and has a sliding drawer with compartments. I'm very happy with this. I've enjoyed taking it to different locations and moving it from room to room in my house. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a strong portable easel.

Awesome!

Got this for my daughter for Christmas. She wanted an easel and this fit the bill and price. Super easy to put together and I love that it can be store by collapsing the legs. I love anything that saves space when needed. It can also be used as a table top easel. We are looking forward to summer weather so she can take it outside and paint. It has a sturdy carry handle so it's really portable. We may even take it on picnics. Very pleased and highly recommend!

I have been dabbling with painting for a while now, but the overall experience rose to a new level of heightened excitement when I came across this wonderful French field easel on the ever awesome amazon.com. My previous research found that these types of easels to be very expensive.after I had received my easel I was simply amazed at the architectural engineering of this wonderful item. one should remember that this is basically a briefcase, so to speak, that opens up into a fully functioning easel capable of numerous positions for your painting pleasure and is absolutely perfect for location painting, which is what I love to do. The easel has a drawer that can hold all of your supplies modestly, but I wound up getting a matching supply box for all of my additional supplies. I have taken this easel camping, have strap it on the back of my bike, and it also toss today in my truck so that I always have it with me for field location paintings whenever I am inspired. You can find a lot of other easels, but none at this price and it is really quite the overall value. Whether you're a novice or an expert, if you are like me, and are forced to watch every penny you spend, this is a great deal. Everyone enjoys painting should have one of these French field easels.I find it a specially inspiring when I have it hanging via the shoulder strap that comes with it and I walked into a park area, set up my easel and begin painting. People are amazed!
