I am using this to make the papers for English Paper Piecing, a quilting method where you use paper (card stock, in my case) cut into shapes such as hexagons. Fabric is wrapped around one side of the papers and basted, then sewn together. Once together, you remove the papers. (Very basic description!) Anyway, it takes hundreds of paper hexagons - before use, I punch a hole in the centers to make it easier to remove them from the fabric pieces later on. I can stack 6-8 thicknesses of card stock to punch with this bad boy, and it has made what I am trying to do a WHOLE lot easier, and quicker. Saves a lot of wear and tear on my poor hands and fingers to be able to do that many at once.

This is probably the best single-hole punch I've ever used. I bought it to punch holes in tin can to make alcohol backpacking stoves, and it cuts through the steel can effortlessly. I also gave it a go on an old key card/ credit card, and it went through that fine too. It punches very clean holes--I tried it out on some printer paper as well and never once had any issues with tearing, rough cuts, or hanging-on punchouts.

I have done a lot of hole-punching in my career as a preschool teacher, and I have the sore palms that comes with all that punching to prove it. I heard about the Swingline Low Force hole punch and thought I'd try it. And I absolutely love it! It is so effortless and easy that I hardly knew that the hole had been punched. Best hole punch I have ever used!

Excellent hole punch! It takes some practice to get used to, as the paper needs to be positioned shallow in the jaw before punching (if you push the paper in all the way the hole will be too far from the edge of the paper). There is a little metal guide that will help you locate the proper depth (you can see it on the bottom jaw in the picture), and it works well with a template, as in a pre-punched paper that you can line up over the top of the papers you need punched. The quality is excellent, and the punch is quite robust. It is also takes much less muscle to use, so it is good if you have tendonitis (as I do in my dominant hand).

A quality item, very well made, and does a great job of punching through 20 sheets of paper as well as several other materials I tested, cardboard, hard plastic, soft plastic, a small stack of junk mail that would fit in the throat. It does its job like cutting through butter, as someone else noted. DO, however, turn the punch on its "back" with the chip tray cover open to align punches if needed. I used a piece of paper as a template to mark where holes should be made, and with the chip cover open, it was easy to line up and make punches. A great tip and works perfectly. I used tweezers to remove chips when needed. All in all for the price a terrific value.

I bought this "super strength" hole punch because I do a lot of laminating; and punching holes through even one piece of laminated 67 lb. paper at a time makes for a very limited life span for smaller, lightweight punches. So far, this 20 sheet punch has made it SO much easier to punch through laminated pieces; it'll even punch through three at a time with a little more effort. It is heavier in the hand, & does take a bit more force to punch holes. But the hole edges are cleaner, and the punch doesn't get stuck closed like cheaper versions. Life's too short for needless frustrations - ones that I was causing myself just to save a few dollars on a silly hole punch! Certain things are worth spending some extra money on, and for me this was one of those items. Now I can JUST punch holes, and not have to spend time extricating cheap hole punches from whatever I'm punching holes in!

Superb Single Hole (1/4 inch) Punch. Heavy duty but easy to manipulate and doesn't require a lot of hand strength. Easy to line up hole location if you take the time to view the side and use the wider bit of metal. Other single hole punches have just fallen apart. Not this one which I use mainly when making Hexie papers for English Paper Piecing.

Solid quality that you expect with the Swingline name. This handles multiple sheets with ease, with almost no resistance at all. The only issue I had was me literally forgetting about the holes material that was punched out until it exploded out of the hole punch since the storage is on the bottom. If you are looking for something to handle a lot of use, this is what you need.

This product is almost too high quality for my needs. I was looking to replace my simple hole puncher (the normal aluminum one we all grew up with) because my kids broke it. I saw that the typical cheap one had so-so reviews so I bought this one for a higher price. Yes its better than the other one, but that's not really necessary for punching a hole here and there. It does it's job and is smoother operating than the other kind and probably won't break down as quickly. Swingline is a great brand for office products. For my needs, it probably wasn't necessary to get this nicer one. If you're going to be using a hole puncher frequently, definitely opt for this one. If you use it only occasionally, I would get the other cheaper kind.

This is perfect for my uses. For all those who are having trouble aligning holes. See my pictures. I simply mark where exactly i want a hole punched, then i pop off the "guard" that catches the punched holes and you can see exactly where the hole is being punched. I used an index card and punched a hole. Then, i use that to align the rest of the index cards that i wanted to punch and with the hole catcher OPEN so i can see where the hole is being punched. It's pretty easy once you open the compartment and can see where it is being punched.
