We bought this to help with rescuing flower beds and gardens on the house we just purchased. It shredded and mulched old wet leaves pretty well when we used the "wet" setting. It did a great job on grass clippings and leaves from trimming bushes because I think they were dry. We can only put 5 bags of trash out per week and this made a big difference to use less bags than when we just stuffed the debris in bags without mulching. I estimate 10 bags down to 1 bag. The big test will be this fall when all of the leaves are down but from the 3 times we used it now it should do a good job. Only suggestion is to make the legs a little longer to fit over the tall paper yard bags better, but then maybe too tall for plastic bags, I don't know.

While we have a standard-size suburban yard, we have quite a few trees and leaf removal is a giant pain each fall. The week before we got this shredder, my husband spent 6 hours clearing the driveway and yard of leaves. Less than a week later, everything was covered again. I'm sure anyone reading this review is probably nodding their heading thinking, "Sounds like my house." After searching for tools that would make the job easier, we were curious to try the Yard Force Leaf shredder to see if it would cut down on time, bags of leaves or both. This product is not a panacea for excessive fall foliage; the only thing that will accomplish that is hiring a yard service. But if that's not in the budget and, like us, you compromised on the yard to get the house and neighborhood you wanted...give this leaf shredder a try. We were very impressed with it's performance! Overall, my husband said it wasn't a product we'd likely use year round, but would be indispensable for 6 weeks in the fall. I asked him if he thought it was worth the purchase price and got an immediate and emphatic yes. (Yard work is not a hobby for us, if you can't already tell.) Things we liked: - My husband estimated it cut down on bag usage by 70%. Yes, it will drastically reduce the number of bags you use - a huge plus if your trash service limits the number you can put out each week like ours does. - It saved time - easier to feed leaves into the shredder than stuffing them in a bag, and less time spent pulling out and setting up new bags. - Consistent performance. No clogs or other issues, even though some of our leaves were damp. - Noise level was not excessive. We compared it to the noise of a leaf blower, thinking it was actually slightly quieter. - The adjustable legs were a big plus on our uneven yard and driveway. - The bungee system kept the trash bag securely in place. - It made us really popular in the neighborhood! (just kidding, but we had quite a few curious neighbors stop by) - We like the way it stores into itself, but haven't tested that feature yet because Mother Nature isn't done having fun with leaves yet Thing we didn't like: - The directions said it was compatible with the standard garden center brown paper bags, but they didn't work very well. We purchased industrial-strength 2-ft tall black plastic bags from the garden center and they worked great. They were a lot more $$$ than the brown paper bags, but the big box should last awhile. - The hand rakes were a nice extra, but we thought a traditional rake was more efficient.

This is my 3rd leaf shredder in 3 years. The first, Flowtron LE-900 The Ultimate Mulcher Electric Leaf Shredder was great for one year, then died after two bags the second. I liked the stand at first, but it broke and was a real pain. The second, Sun Joe SDJ616 Shredder Joe 13-Amp 16:1 Reduction Electric Leaf Mulcher/Shredder was easier to store I put it over a big garden trug and emptied the shredded leaves into a bag. It worked fine last year and again, a couple of bags into this one. I took it apart and cleaned the filters, (not easy - you have to unscrew pretty much the whole thing). My husband figured out that if you whacked it, it ran for a second, then stopped. When I took the covers off I saw what appeared to be some kind of spark. It is now in the landfill. I bought this Yard Force locally today (I am waiting for the WORX WG430 13 amp Electric Leaf Mulcher/Shredder to come from Amazon, but I needed something right away). I immediately noticed that, other than the color, it is exactly the same as the Shredder Joe. The cutting line seems slightly heavier and is a slightly shorter length. I ordered more line for the Shredder Joe before it died, so I may use it instead of returning it to Amazon. I do prefer this line. Neither last very long - maybe 10 or 15 minutes. Given the quick death of the Shredder Joe, I am definitely keeping the box for this in case it dies just as quickly. So far it works just fine, but I am very cautiously optimistic. UPDATE: I was glad to see the quick reply to my review by Yard Force and the comments they have made on other reviews. I am happy that they stand behind their product.

so far it's good, hope it will last long

I'm more than ready to stop filling 25 bags of leaves every year!! I should have researched this sooner, duh, but I'm ready for the "fall". The product arrived a day earlier than expected which was a nice surprise and in good condition. The product is very easy to assemble and disassemble for storage. I immediately had to give it a whirl with a few leaves that have already migrated to my yard. Although it wasn't a major trial it gave me a bright outlook on the upcoming fall leaf Roundup, except it will be a mulch up!!!

I bought this a month ago but today was the first day i used it. It exceeded my expectations. It took a bit to position bag under bungees. Once i started using the corner of the claw to push everything down, it went fast. I only had set on medium but all the leaves were almost like powder. Wow. I have a ton of leaves every year and am looking forward to using it this year to help me.

Was very easy to set up and didn’t have to use any tools. We have a steep hill in the back year and the legs were easy to adjust to keep the shredder stable. Did a great job shredding leaves and weeds. A+

I cannot yet speak to the durability as I just got in from my first use, but it seems well made and sturdy. It worked flawlessly and quickly on my dry leaves with a few twigs, with no jams or broken line after this first use. Last weekend, before this arrived, I bagged 40 paper yard sacks of leaves. This weekend, I would estimate I had about 10 bags worth of leaves, which all fit into a single bag. I had the unit set to it's medium setting. It worked as easily and exactly as I had hoped!

We have lots of leaves. This shearer was super easy to use. It certainly made a large amount of leaves into a very small pile. It saved It’s of time.
