Good size (larger than most). Kids love to draw on it while sitting on couch or floor. Mac Book Pro 15 fits very easily with room for mouse on the side if desired. Surface is too reflective to allow for optical mouse to work (have to put down a mouse pad). We bought two more.

Like some other reviews note, out of the box, this lap desk smelled rather toxic. I thought I'd have to return it, but instead I took a chance I could get the bad smell out. I loaded the black fabric part down with baking soda and left it alone (in a closed up room) for a week. Then I vacuumed up the baking soda and no more smell! If it had been warmer and dry outside during the detoxifying process, it would have gone faster to put it outside for a few hours.

I'm not using this as a lap desk. What I really wanted was a corner piece for my desk, so I could have my keyboard closer to me. But I didn't want a keyboard tray; I still want my keyboard at desk level, not below. I just wanted something that would bridge the corner of my desk. Unfortunately everything that's actually made for that purpose is SUPER EXPENSIVE. So I thought I'd just get a lap desk instead and deal with it that way. (If I have to use a lowered keyboard, I at least wanted it in my lap.) But little did I know, I was able to use this lap desk as a corner piece for my desk! First, the padding on the bottom comes off. It's held on with several strips of velcro. So I took off the padding, then ripped off the velcro, and pulled out the staples. Now it's perfectly flat on the bottom. I put it flat on my desk, with the handle (wider) side facing me, and the narrower side pointing towards my monitor. And this works GREAT! I can use the handle to move the tray around, when I want to adjust where my keyboard sits. I can pull it closer, move it away, rotate, etc. I can also move my keyboard to one side and fit my mouse on the board if I want to, too. I have a small tea towel at the bottom as padding for my wrists. The lap desk's shape and size means I can actually pull it quite far towards myself, and it's still very stable.

This is a great little laptop desk. My daughter spends many hours every day doing school work on her laptop and she prefers to sit on her bed with it instead of at a table or desk. I decided to look into a lap desk for her comfort and productivity as well as for the well being of the laptop itself. I had read it is not good to have them in your lap or on blankets where they cannot get a decent amount of ventilation below them. So the hunt began. I was initially surprised that it was more difficult than I thought it would be to find a simple lap desk that would be big enough for the laptop she was currently using. Many of them were too small or had legs that would not allow the desk to stay upright very reliably. I came across this model online from a large retailer and decided to check if Amazon carried them so I could have it at my front door within a day or two (YAY Prime!). To my most pleasant surprise, not only did Amazon carry the exact desk I wanted, they offered it in more colors. She opted for the teal. I believe there was a really neat looking indigo one but it was back ordered at the time. Side note about the color options really quick... I understand supply and demand but I have never been a fan of the practice of charging more for the same item just because it is a different color, as was the case with these lap desks. She first used the desk for an older 17" Dell Studio laptop and it fit just fine on the top. She now uses it for her new 15" Dell Inspiron which also fits great. She likes it very much and uses it everyday. It can be stored under the bed when it is not in use which would keep it out of sight and easily accessible. This is a really good investment if you or your children often sit around with your laptop on your lap. Getting my moneys worth with this one.

I got this based on size and can confirm it is big for a lap desk. I can easily say it should fit a laptop computer. My 10 inch tablet looks small on it. It is very comfortable on my lap. It is slippery, but so are most plastic surfaces or tables. Most likely I'd be upset if it wasn't, because while doing paperwork I want it to move and not be stuck in place. I bought the blue version, because it had a better price and matched stuff around me. If the black one was the same price I would have bought that because I wear a metal splint on my hand and it will leave dark marks all over this blue surface, making it look like pencil scribbles everywhere. I might buy a smaller black lap desk in the future for just using my tablet and cut down on size. I'm very happy with it.

Fits my Heavy 17” Lenovo Thinkpad great with just enough room to the right for a standard side mouse AND still room on the top right of laptop for a drink, phone placement, pencil cup, etc. Another had commented the msg wood was thin. Absolutely not. Perfect thickness without getting too heavy or bulky. There’s no “flex” at all in the top wood. Things I don’t like: 1) I wish the padding underneath the board went all the way across like others. Men tend to sit more open legged then females and I could have used the extra width of padding. 2) as one reviewer mentioned the material used to enclose the padding is thin and cheap feeling so I hope it lasts? It is probably breathable however so this could also be a benefit. 3) I am not sure why they only have a small rectangular strip of Velcro holding the pad on but I am thinking it’s becuase the padding material is thin so too much Velcro means the padding material may give way before the Velcro. There is a large rectangular “material enclosure” tag on the underside of the pad that I added a few Velcro squares to do that should be fine. It just kinda bugged me when lifting the desk, the top part of the pad would separate a tad all the way down to where the Velcro started. More aesthetic looking now when but it bugged me enough to add Velcro squares. Summary: great unit for the price! I ordered the white color becuase at the time it was $6-$8 cheaper than the other colors. Now a day later it is the same but the Mint blue is cheaper!...lol Perhaps Amazon does this for inventory reduction temporarily on certain colors but I have become accustomed to looking at all colors and or options because this allows me to save money many times.

I work full-time from home as a writer but unfortunately can't always sit at my desk due to back pain, fibromyalgia, and various other illnesses. I'm a disabled person, but not so disabled that I can't work, so I ordered this to try and make working from the couch a little more bearable (and to prevent wrist pain/further back pain from leaning forward when resting the computer on my legs). I'm not sure why I put it off so long! This is a super simple, sturdy lap desk and it provides a nice smooth surface for my laptops without being heavy or unweildy. It slips pretty easily under my coffee table for storage when not in use and the handle makes it easy to move from that spot. It's wide without being unweildy and is a really nice size for both my 11" Chromebook and 13" Windows laptop (with extra space on the sides and back). I didn't have any issues whatsoever with smell or heat. The only caveat is that this seems to be solid wood on the top and thus a LITTLE bit heavy (compared to the plastic and microbead lap desk I previously had), so if you have wrist pain or trouble lifting items (as I sometimes do), you may want to have somewhere to leave it out and only move it a little bit vs. lifting it up from the floor or inside a closet. But the sturdiness and extra space for a notepad, my water bottle, my wrists, etc. is worth it for me.

I purchased two of these; I use one at home when reading/studying on my bed or when eating on my couch. The 2nd one I use in my car (without the removable cushion) when I eat or read while waiting for my train (I park & ride and sometimes I arrived 15-30 minutes early) I tuck the tray away between my sit and console when not in use and it fits perfectly. Very useful for me.

My 17 inch laptop and mouse fit just fine. I like that the surface is flat, painted and glossy. I didn't want one with a paper veneer or vinyl wrapping that don't tend to last. The surface of this lap desk has no seams. My laptop has rubber feet and doesn't budge while on this lap desk even when the lap desk is tilted at a 45 degree angle! The detachable foam padding is comfortable enough. Not having a built-in mouse pad is a plus because the other lap desks I considered had a plastic bezel frame surrounding the mouse pad that seemed way too confining. The only very small issue I found is that my Logitech M305 wireless mouse won't track on its bare surface. That may be due to the completely uniform texture of the glossy surface. This was not really a problem for me as I had planned on using a small pad with built in wrist pad. This lap desk costs easily half the price of any of the others I almost purchased. I can recommend it without reservation.

I love this "Laptop" Lap Desk, & though I didn't buy it for my laptop, I use it for this now. I wanted a sturdy, well made lap desk to work on my art work: drawing, and sketches, as well as inks & I use it for this too! This is unbelievably h-i-g-h quality for the price! The pad underneath is the best ever before now, perfectly angled for what I need to do, and is made of comfortable foam that isn't going to wear down with use and time. I've bought products like this in the past that, despite their description, were not smooth on the top. And the pad underneath was like a bunch of tiny bb's rolling around - not at all comfortable. For my needs, this gets an A+++
