Really works well. I am a 69 year old woman, and it is not as light weight as I had hoped, but is manageable. It is the only way to quickly clean our pool deck made of pavers. Assembles very easily. Bag is very durable. Will actually pick up small twigs as well as leaves of all sizes. I use it at least twice a week.

it blows. but also mulches great; more important in my opinion. I don't even use the bag attachment just let her rip and leaves shred into confetti. leaves shoot out like a cannon. power setting 1 is great for mulch. not as much suction power and less noise than setting 2. you don't need setting 2 for sucking up leaves. setting 2 high power is for blowing the hardest biggest leaf piles. the mulching feature can even shred big magnolia seeds in the south. impressive. how to use mulcher and vacuum. easiest way. rake or blow leaves into pile. lay 5600 on ground. attach bag and open zipper about a foot. lay trash can or crate on side to catch shredded leaves after they shred and shoot out. turn unit on. and rake leaves into suction hole. rake leaves into container and spread around garden or wherever you want mulch. what power cord to use. 25ft - 16 guage / 3 50ft - 14 guage / 3 100ft - 12 guage / 3 these guage power cords will not stress your machine and cause it to die prematurely

This is my first leaf blower, and I’m very happy with it, so far. I only used it to herd maple leaves, and those little maple leaf pinwheels, around the yard and down the driveway, and it really works great for that. I’m still trying to get the hang of being a successful leaf shepherder, but the Black & Decker leaf blower’s dual power settings make that job pretty simple. I’ll admit that the higher of the two settings can be pretty intimidating, like the other day when I accidentally uprooted two or three of my wife’s favorite plants. And I got myself in a little trouble, when the shoelace-like string at the bottom of my favorite LL Bean jacket got drawn up into the bottom of the leaf blower, and was sucked out of my jacket like a strand of spaghetti. I haven’t used the vacuum feature as yet, but based on the job it did on that string I’d say it probably works really well. The leaf blower is well balanced (probably more so than me), making it’s moderate weight easy to manage. I comes with everything I was looking for in a leaf blower, with the possible exception of a replacement jacket string. While there’s some assembly required, it was pretty straight forward, even for me. I’m giving the Black & Decker BV5600 all five stars.

I am impressed with this machine....it is easy to switch from the blower to the vacuum. I have several trees in my yard that includes oak, maple, black walnut and catalpa ( which I will be cutting the Catalpa trees down ). I haven't had any issues or problems with this blower/vac at all. I do wish that it had a longer strap and that the bag was a little bigger but you can't have everything. All in all a very good buy !!!!!!

i use this as a vacuum only -- i despise leaf blowers -- so if you need a review of it as a blower, look elsewhere. i got this one after carefully reviewing all available leaf-vacuum-capable models, and determining that reviewers using them as vacuums preferred this one, mostly due to durability of the collection bag system. it has proven to be one of the best garden tools i have ever bought, truly revolutionizing my yard management, and improving my gardens markedly. i have had it for 2.5 months, and used it for 20-30 hours in that time, and it still runs perfectly. i have subjected it to a great deal of abuse, including vacuuming up mud and sodden leaves, and it will even do that to a better degree than anyone should reasonably expect (although you'll want a long-bladed screwdriver handy and get very familiar with popping it open if you do that). it will also suck up most small twigs and branches, although if they are limber and just the right size, they will cause clogs. miraculously, it will suck up heavily matted leaves over the top of gravel beds, of which i have several, without grabbing the stones! this is a wonderful thing. i use it on the lower setting 95% of the time, only using the high setting when it starts to clog (usually clears the clog quickly). the metal fan is a must; my yard abounds in oak leaves and acorns, and a plastic one would be demolished by those and by the occasional small stone it does pick up. there is one very tiny nick in one of the fan blades on mine at this point, and i project at this rate of wear that i will get many years out of this inexpensive wonder.

I FEEL LIKE TIM THE TOOL MAN TAYLOR WITH THIS THING! IT IS POWERFUL AND EASY TO USE. I AM NOT GETTING ANY YOUNGER AND MY CHILDREN ARE ALL GROWN UP AND MOVED AWAY....WHO ELSE IS GOING TO RAKE LEAVES? I GIVE THIS PRODUCT A 5 STAR BECAUSE IT TRULY IS A GREAT MACHINE. YOU CAN NEVER GO WRONG WITH B&D.

I moved into a house last year with 2 50 foot trees. The amount of leaves I had on my lawn was overwhelming. It took two different weekends to rake them all up into 30 lawn bags. This year I bought this Blower/Mulcher and using it for the first time I had great success. I was able to blow my entire front yard into about a 3x3 foot area. I then swapped out to the vacuum mulcher, which only took a minute or two. I then proceeded to vacuum up all the leaves and was done pretty quickly. I filled up the bag on the vacuum 4x, and with squishing it down it all fit in one lawn bag. What easily would have been 4 or 5 lawn bags if I had just raked it. I highly recommend this product!

This mulcher/blower has been my go to tool this fall with leaf clean up. I have a lot just over 3/4 acre with many tall trees and love the mulcher. It mulches the leaves better than my old mulcher (a toro model which lasted about 5 years). I also like the two speeds on this model but have found I mainly use the high speed. It picks up and mulches small sticks with no problem. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a reasonably priced mulcher which will do the job for small to medium sized yards with many big trees. The blower attachment also works very good. I hope this review is helpful. If so, please hit the helpful tab at the end of the review.

Ok first of all this thing is way bigger than I expected. You could almost fit a head in that sucker tube :'D. Standing on the tube end it's almost as tall as my 7 year old kid. I will say it works very well though. I was sucking up clumps of wet leaves and in some cases small sticks and the fan chomped through it all without slowing at all. The mulching action is just about perfect too. The bag doesn't hold as much as I'd like but I purchased the attachment that puts it in a trash can instead. Works well and seems well made, definitely recommend. **Note I've only used the suck feature, no clue how well it blows**

My 23-year-old B&D shredder/blower blew a hole in its side just at fall leaf removal time. After extensive research, I bought this one and have been well rewarded for my choice. It's not light, but it is well balanced. The re-usable bag is well supported, so I barely used the strap. The specs say that this shreds leaves so they fit in 1/16 of the number of leaf bags. I don't have a big yard and can't vouch for the 1/16 ratio, but it was remarkably efficient. While the unit itself isn't really loud, the leaves and yard debris shooting through the wand and being ground by the shredder are loud. The zipper on the bag is easy to open, and emptying the bag into one of the monster yard waste bags was pretty easy, much more so than my prior shredder. I have not tried the re-usable bags and don't plan to do so. I played with using each of the fan speeds for mulching (I rake and then mulch, so I don't use the blower much). So ... for its first use, this did everything I needed, quickly and cleanly. I'll update this in a couple of years to see if it holds up as well as my earlier B&D.
