Excellent way to store your most-important documents

I love my waterproof, and fire-safe chest from SentrySafe. We always had one of these in my house when I was growing up, so it that did help in my decision to purchase it for my new home. It's a bit heavy - but is absolutely worth it. I trust it to store all of my most important documents. Also, the grey is a nice color. Doesn't show any dirt. I would highly recommend SentrySafe, especially this product. 5*

A Great Buy

We were looking for a basic home safe to keep passports, car titles, etc, in. We chose this one to give as a gift based on the price and reviews. We were very happy when it arrived and we saw it. It is much better than what we have. It is nice and sturdy, fireproof and it has a lock. When we saw it we were surprised at how nice it was for the price. It's the perfect safe for personal use and a great size for placing items in that you want to protect. A definite thumbs up!

A nice safe to lock your valuables in

A nice safe to lock your valuables in, namely documents like passports, SS# cards etc. Not a giant space but fits the bill for our needs. Has a nice weight to it, I was actually surprised by how heavy it was. My only complaint is that at times the latch is difficult to open when the safe is unlocked. I found that if you lightly press down on the lid and then actuate the latch I had no problem. Other than that i've had no real issues.

Works as Expected. A Tip on Opening the Unit

The fire-safe unit I received has so far had none of the problems mentioned by some other reviewers. As far as difficulty opening, I found that pressing down on the top part with both thumbs while at the same time pressing up on the latch underneath with both forefingers and middle fingers causes (on my unit, at least) the box to easily open. Closing is equally easy by pressing down on the top with both hands. There may or may not be a sound when it latches. Of course, the only way to find out if the unit performs as promised would be to put it through a house fire, which hopefully will never happen. In that eventuality, I'll report back :-)

If it were easy as some wish it would not be water proof

I noticed on some reviews they say this box is difficult to open and I can see where that might be an issue for some. Since it seals well with foam rubber gaskets to make it waterproof those gaskets have to be compressed slightly to get the latch to release. For some this might be difficult. Here's what you do. Turn the key to unlock the latch, press down on the lid and pull up on the latch handle at the same time....that's it!. It does take 2 hands, you have 2 don't you. If it were easy as some wish it would not be water proof. This box serve my purposes exactly.

nice suprise

lovely surprise for the price. I was expecting something less solid because of the price but it fit my budget. I did purchase it from amazon direct for 19.88 and the price has gone up but still the product is well worth the price. very sturdy, slightly smaller inside but still roomy enough for paperwork if folded and would definitely hold jewelry and the flash drives with family pictures that I am using it for. only draw back is that if it was stolen and you hadn't registered a thief could get a key using a code.

This safe is heavy and roomy inside

This is a good secure safe. I do not know how it holds up in a fire. I hope I do not need to find out. In the mean time it works great for securing valuables, spare checks, ID's and papers that are important. Its roomy inside and can stash quite a bit plus it has a handle which makes it ideal for traveling or frequent use. Keep in mind that this safe is heavy and I would not want to try and carry it too far if you need to bug out on foot.

WE USE IN ANOTHER SAFE

We bought this for our important documents and passports etc to be used inside of our Liberty safe. We wanted extra fire protection for those items encase of fire. Plus it is nice to store and move them in. It’s a very well made safe and serves us well and I’m sure it would work well as a firesafe on its own. As far as theft it is pretty portable so it’s only gonna stop kids from getting in or someone from pocketing small stuff, a burglar is just gonna walk away with it. I recommend it

Very nice

Pretty heavy, lock works fine, doesn't have much space but can fit plenty of folded documents. Good that it has handle. Checked it's waterproof.
