Works good
I’ve had no issues. I have seen other reviews that state it stopped working shortly after first use. From looking at the thermometer it is cheaply made. That said it will last good, but it takes more care. When washing I never get water too close to the plastic. Hot soapy rag to wipe only the metal probe. Then a hot damp rag to wipe off the soap. Then dry cloth to dry. Through all this I hold the thermometer with the probe faceing down to prevent drips into the plastic. It can probably handle a little water, but I don’t take the chance. To me it’s worth the money.

Wonderful and fast grill and kitchen tool
I love it. If I knew how handy these were for grilling, or cooking in general I'd have had one years ago! What prompted me to buy one was using my Cuisinart slow cooker and destroying a nice big round roast since the 'Low' setting is a constant 200 deg, not how slow cookers used to operate originally. With this PT12, I now can adjust my methods and the new slow cooker's settings. It manages to show temp within 1 or two seconds normally which is great when reaching over flames. Time will tell how long it'll last, but over all very happy with the PT12. Also, it is magnetic so you can stick it to the fridge, or a cold spot on the grill for storing.

Nice Thermometer -- Convenient, Easy to Use and Compact
I haven't had much luck with kitchen thermometers in the past and finally decided to buy another. Having received and used the Lavatools Javelin I can say that I am happy I did so. I have used it for meat, water temp, and oil temp for double-frying french fries. So far I have been pleased with the time it takes to stabilize and report a temperature. Other than checking the reading against boiling water and ice I cannot really comment on accuracy other than saying what I think looks like medium rare steak is consistent with the temperature measurement of 140 or so. For the price and convenience I think this is a nice thermometer and hope it lasts a couple of years.

My Favorite Digital Thermometer!
I got disgusted with the cheap quality of an OXO digital thermometer, so I decided to spend a little more money so I can get my meats to the proper internal temperature--chicken 165* breast and so forth...this Lavatools PT12 comes in a neat package, it's very well constructed and it has a handy magnet so you can put it on your refrigerator instead of losing it in a junk drawer. It's set to Farenheit, can be changed to Celsius, and it comes on when you pull out the metal probe and shuts off automatically when you twist it back. Works great, I love it!!

Very good instant read at a reasonable price.
I needed an instant read thermometer for grilling/BBQ, and was able to snag this during an Amazon sale. I cannot say enough good things about how well this thermometer works. It has helped me greatly in improving my BBQ and other grilling. If you are looking for a good instant read thermometer, you will not be disappointed with this one.

SO GLAD I BOUGHT THIS
well, i've owned a few Taylor digital thermometers and was happy with them. then the last one died, and i bought one of the highest recommended units on Amazon. unfortunately it malfunctioned within a few weeks. given the good reviews, i assume i got a bad one. now, this thermometer obviously costs a little more but i'm very happy with it and would recommend it to you. it registers tempt withing maybe 2 seconds and the thin tip goes in easy and doesn't leave as big of a hole in the meat. folding design makes for very easy storage. i recommend this product.

excellent
After years of using typical (slow) thermometers, I bought this because a consumer review site said that it's the best product in its class and price point. I love it. I got it for cooking chicken on the outdoor bbq and knowing that it's safe to serve, but now I use it for everything (turkey, steaks...)

I wouldn't use over grill heat) and it adds a wealth of confidence to producing a great finished product
Bought this last year after another thermometer failed me on Christmas Day... (Oy, really Other Thermometer? Christmas Day?). have been practicing with the Javelin since then and waiting for redemption this Christmas.... My usage experience is positive. its fast, accurate, compact. I've been using it for beef tenderloin and burgers (food taken out of oven only; I wouldn't use over grill heat) and it adds a wealth of confidence to producing a great finished product.

I like it as much as my Thermapen
My thermapen broke. I was going to buy another one for almost $90 but I checked Amazon first. I saw all the great reviews and figured I would roll the dice on this one. I am a regular, everyday cook. I have noticed no discernible difference from my Thermapen. I will say my Thermapen lasted for at least 8 years. Let’s see how long this one lasts. I highly recommend it for the price!

It is well built and easy to use
Very impressed. It is well built and easy to use. I was able to get accurate readings within 5 seconds. Ice water test was within .3 deg F and boiling water water test was spot on for distilled water at sea level. The probe is a little short to keep completely clear when measuring over a hot surface such as a grill but that is to be expected with the compact design. I'm pleased with this product and would recommend it.
