Awesome!
This thing is awesome. I have a ditch that I HATE to cut with my push mower because it's heavy and hard to maneuver. I bought this little gadget in a desperate attempt to cut the knee-high grass that had accumulated due to my procrastination. This thing killed it! I didn't think it would. I thought it would get bogged down and not be able to cut through the thick parts, but it works like a camp. My only wish is that the battery would last longer. I had to charge that bad boy 4 times to get through this ditch. I imagine though that if the grass weren't so extremely high, it would only take one or two charges. Still, I think this is the best lawn product I've ever bought and wish I had purchased it sooner.

I really love this little machine!
So far, I am very impressed! I live in Colorado, where it is hilly and uneven and rocky. There are places I just can't push a lawnmower, or ride a riding mower. This little machine fits the bill so far! I'm able to easily push it uphill in the "mowing" position, and quickly switch to trimmer when I need to. The batteries don't last all that long, but it comes with 2 batteries, and you can order more. The convenience of this machine outweighs that little inconvenience for me. The trimmer is quite powerful, and is so much lighter than a gas trimmer. I haven't had any trouble with the trimmer cord, and it really does feed itself without having to bump it, like we used to have to do. I had a friend who laughed at it when she watched me unbox it, but after she used it, she was a believer!

Highly recommended! Especially if you have some medical limitations.
I cannot tell you how much I love this little gadget. I have used it so much already. It's a good thing it comes with two batteries. The regular lawn mower is very heavy. I have fibromyalgia so I was looking for something a little more lightweight for my bad days. This little thing is perfect. The automatic string dispenser is awesome. The fact that it's lightweight and uses battery power makes it so easy for me to carry all over our large property so I can clear out little areas where larger mowers don't fit. I have learned that the thicker brush will drain the battery quicker, which is expected, but it still does the job for everything I have used it for. I actually mow our small patches of lawn in front of our house rather than dragging out the big mower that is cumbersome and hard for me to manage sometimes. I really, truly love this.

Wow. Wish I would have had this years ago.
I wish I could give this 10 STARS! I have a backyard with a walkway to the pool, numerous flower areas besides the raised boxes for veggies and also a fish pond. This mower/trimmer makes it so easy to take care of this unusual setup. I don't need to bump it to get the string out, it just reloads as you go. I can switch from mowing to trimming by just stepping on the lever. I purchased an extra battery that has double the use time. It's a little heavier with that battery but not a burden. I use the 4.0 battery and one of the 2.0 each time I mow but still have power left when I'm finished. I also have a screwdriver that uses the same batteries; thus that is why I purchased an extra. You can go over things that you couldn't with a real mower (it's a weed wacker on wheels) so you don't have to be afraid of any blade breaking. This would be perfect for a small yard or for someone elderly who doesn't want to deal with a gas powered mower. Just an incredible product. Here's a photo of my complicated area.

Love the easy use of the caddy most
Love the easy use of the caddy most. That is the main reason I bought the first one. It makes the trimmer so much lighter to operate. You can just push it and walk behind it for low or thin grass/weed areas. If you are cutting thicker stuff you can move it back and forth like vacuuming or remove the trimmer to cut it down. I usually get 30 minutes or more from 1 battery for light trimming and any thick stuff will get a little less time but it comes with 2 batteries so it is possible to trim for an hour. I did start to have issues with the battery charging after a few months. I was getting a "bad battery" signal from the charger for both batteries. I took batteries to Lowes to recycle, bought a new battery, plugged it into the charger and was still getting the same bad signal. Went back to Lowes with the charger and new battery, employee from that dept. brought me a new charger, the new battery flashed green and was ok. They still had my other 2 batteries up front and I got those back and they flashed green and charging. So then I had 3 good batteries to get more trimming done. I have a habit of trying to run lawn equipment like a bush-hog and eventually the first one burnt out. I ordered a second trimmer (no caddy) with same model number(1 more charger/2 more batteries included) and it fit the caddy I kept. I'm taking it easier with this one and everything is running great. My mother got so tired of her gas trimmer and the weight from holding it then she borrowed mine and said to order her one. So I ordered a third one with the caddy (1 more charger/2more batteries). *These batteries also fit the black and decker chainsaw and with all the chargers and batteries we have, we get a lot accomplished in a day or a couple of hours. Very satisfied with b & d equipment.

I love it!
I bought this to cut the grass for my small mobile home yard. It is perfect for what I need and it gives a clean even cut. Plus it is easy to use like pushing the sweeper. This is not really for a big yard, so if you think that you will probably be disappointed. I use mine about once a week now but twice a week in the springtime. The first time I used it my grass was pretty high but it still cut and then I went back over it and then it was just fine. If it breaks by the end of cutting season I would probably purchase another one for next year, but I did buy that warranty! Meanwhile my neighbors are all checking it out while they are either driving by or pushing their dirty smelly gas guzzling heavy mowers and I am like using one hand to use it and one hand to wave, Hey girl, I got this on Amazon! And no you cannot borrow it, get your own! I bought the one with the two Lithium batteries that I charge as soon as I am done using it. So glad I did! Plus you can use these same batteries for other Black and Decker battery operated tools if needed. It usually almost takes the power of the two battery packs to do my yard but probably because I am using it to cut the front of my neighbors yard next door too plus the edging I do all the way down the street. And it is not very loud, so no disturbing the neighbors when I get up early to mow before it gets hot outside. I got this in April 2017 and the spool just ran out today June 5, 2017. So I have ordered the 3 pack to hopefully get me through the rest of the summer. I actually never realized it was running out until it was gone! I never had a bit of trouble with the feed on it so I think that is great too. I just rinse the deck with the hose, let it dry, then I clean and wipe the weed eater part off and put it all in my coat closet, no need for outside storage! And no I DID NOT receive this at a discount for giving an honest review. I really do love it! Update; October 21st 2017 Still runs like a charm! Tomorrow I will use it for the last time before cleaning it up and putting it away for the winter. I did run out of string the last time I used it so replacing that first thing before I run it. I would probably forget running it at this time but I know that if I have a good clean shorter cut the leaves from my neighbors will not get hung up in my yard but blown over to the other neighbors yard. Like I said before if this doesn't start this coming spring I will just order another one. I still think this is one of the best things I have ever bought. And also as a side note. I read some of the other reviews and noticed a couple of people say they charge it all night and that after a while the batteries did not hold a charge as long.. It is probably because they are overcharged. I set a timer and always just charge each battery for 4 hours only. I use both batteries until the are completely dead, then I am done with mowing for the day. I take them and charge them for the 4 hours each and then put them in a cool dry place.

It's A Keeper!
I am absolutely pleased with this little gadget! I have owned a traditional gas powered mower and as it has aged have had to have it serviced in shops more often than I've been able to use it. In the past, I have also owned a manual reel mower (Fiskars Momentum). I'm writing this review, comparing to both types of mowers I have had. This is by far the best! First, it is so light weight that I barely broke a sweat when mowing my yard. Since my yard is quite hilly, the reel mower was quite challenging while pushing into some locations. Centipede grass is not very tall so I was able to complete cutting with this in one pass, as opposed to some reviewers with taller grass who have compared using this to a vacuum cleaner that requires you pushing it back and forth. Unlike the reel mower, because this cuts with trimmer line, I am easily able to cut the weeds. With this, there are no gas fumes! It's quiet enough that I had my mobile phone in my pocket and could hear all the alerts from texts and emails while using it. Now here are the cons: if you have a large lawn look else where because it's a small mower and is battery operated. Using this alone might take you several hours with a large lawn . Each battery lasts approximately 20 to 25 minutes, so you're looking at 50 minutes max of continuous operation. You should have one or two extra spools on hand. I was able to mow my lawn and still had trimmer line left, but since you can't measure how much is being used as you're cutting, you definitely want to be prepared in the event it runs out. The cut grass stays on the ground so longer grasses left behind may turn brown in a few days, possibly being an eyesore. This didn't seem to be a problem with the centipede . If this is a problem for you you'll need to follow up with cleanup after mowing. In summary, I don't see returning to the traditional gas mower unless I end up moving to a house with a large lawn that requires a riding mower. I'm sold on this battery-operated technology! Unless this turns out to be junk, my next mower will be something that runs on a battery. I'll update this review after a period of longer use . Updating July 4, 2018: Still works as intended. No complaints.

The right tool for obstacle course type yards
OMG, where has this thing been all my life? Seriously, I'd give it 20 stars if I could. So... a few caveats to begin with. If you have a standard lawn - ie a flat, smooth, open, easily accessible piece of land covered with turf, then you might be happier with either the corded model or with a standard electric mower. But, if you're dealing with an obstacle course like I am, this thing is a total lifesaver. I just did the entire yard in half an hour - it usually takes 2-3 hours - and it did a vastly superior job to my old corded mower. I kept expecting the batteries to die on me, but to my great surprise I ended up having battery power to spare. My yard consists of a bunch of disconnected areas of grass - the biggest area is about 50'x20', then there are about 3 sections that are about 15'x15' each, and a few other paths & odd shaped areas, with planters, greenhouses, bushes, trees, steps, and terraces between. This is basically a cordless weed whacker with a wheeled base. There is no blade, just the nylon whacker cord. It's super light and manuverable, which is perfect if you're trying to deal with tight spaces, hills, and various obstacles. It's really easy to pull the whacker in and out of the base, and that was really the only problem I had with it - It sorta got clogged with clippings and I wasn't getting it properly snapped into place, so it would pull out as I was mowing. Once I figured it out, I just wiped the clippings away and the problem went away. It's super convenient to be able to switch back and forth from mowing to whacking especially with all of the crazy edges that I'm dealing with. I was a little bit concerned about the small wheels because the ground here isn't exactly even, and my old mower would easily get one of its wheels stuck. But with this thing when you get stuck you just grab the top handle with your other hand and pick it up. Most of the time though, I just used one hand with a vacuum cleaner type motion. So I didn't mow in long rows like you have to with a standard mower, and for my space that works much, much better. I was amazed how much power it had. It could actually handle the small volunteer saplings that spring up everywhere in addition to the grass. I accidentally cut off a few pieces of wood vine that were nearly half an inch thick because I just wasn't expecting it to be able to cut through something like that. The only other thing I'm not wild about is the safety switch. I found it a bit awkward, and ended up having to push the safety in with one hand while I pulled the trigger with the other. So I could do without that, but I understand why it's there. But compared to the hassle of dealing with a cord, and trying to lift the old mower over the steps and terraces, that's a very small price to pay. I still can't believe I mowed the whole yard in 30 minutes with absolutely no cursing. Hooray!

It's a great mower!
When I first told my husband that I bought this, well... let's just say he wasn't thrilled. Our old refurb, stinky gas, loud, busted framed, hard to push mower went to scrap heaven last fall after one final belch of smoke. (May she RIP) She did good really, after being pulled from someone's trash and given a little TLC, that gal gave us 5 yrs. But you see, my husband LOATHES mowing. Of any chore, it's his least favorite. I was so tired of having to convince him to mow every weekend that I bought this to just do it myself. End of problem. It's a little lawn. Maybe 20x100'. It came, he laughed at it. We charged it. The weekend came and I started her up... He steps in to try it and I couldn't get it back from him! He mowed the whole lawn (On just one battery, btw) The whole week he goes on and on about how amazing the little mower is. We actually squabble over who gets to "vacuum the lawn now! " So, I do the front and he does the back. Cheers! No grass clippings blown anywhere. Minimal noise, no smell Easy switch to weed whacker Excellent edger Easy to push, light -even with battery Gets closer to objects than bulky mower wheels Gentler on wildlife during the mow (a couple little garter snakes were early spotted and avoided) Better for the environment Interchangeable batteries for other B&D products (I'm seriously eying the blower for fall).
