This was a great Idea who ever thought of it, the functionality of a mower and weed eater. I bought this because I have a small yard and my electric mower broke after 7 years. I don't like gas power mowers or do I need one for my tiny lawn so I was thinking about buying another electric mower tell I saw this. Its perfect for my needs, very easy to use and slips right into the mower part and detaches very easy. The Trimmer/mower is easy to clean and store in my garage, and Its pretty powerful for only being 6amp. I had no problems mowing my lawn for the 1st time this season and the grass was really tall. I posted pictures of it and the job it did here on amazon if you want to check them out. The unit is really nice to just un-click this thing from the base and start weed eating and edge trimming and then snap it back in and continue mowing. My experience with weed eaters is if you keep them clean by rinsing them off after you use them they last along time also I store my tools in my garage and not outside which really increase's the life of them. The trimer is single feed which I like a lot more than the double, its just easier to put more cord in it, and with the single feed the cord seems to last longer. Set up out of the box took me around 2 mins, took me longer to locate my screw driver than it did to screw the one screw that attaches the guard to the trimmer and that was it. I was mowing within 5 mins of pulling this out of the box (its the Corded Version BTW) I really can't say enough about this product it is a great idea and glade to have it!

My previous house had a tiny lawn (50sqft-ish), so I got this one and it was prefect, can finish mowing within 10min. Then now I moved to this house with about 500sqft-ish lawn, guess what... it still does the job just as good. I am glad my lawn is new, so it's evenly leveled, and this mower had no problem keep running for 20 minutes without much stopping. The result is consistent even trim of the whole lawn, looks almost identical to my next door neighbor's professional cut. The trick to get nice cut is DON'T USE IT LIKE A VACUUM CLEANER. If you use it like a vacuum cleaner and go back and forth every step, then you going to get very ugly pattern and uneven hight and balls of clipping everywhere. Instead, you need to set a direction, and go at steady pace, walk from beginning to end without stopping (if you need to stop to pick up something or untangle cord, don't move around or jerk the trimmer, just stay in the same position and continue after). After you reach to the end, shift the position a little so it overlaps with the previous line, and either turn around and continue to trim from other end back to beginning, or backing up and trim at same time to the start point. If you miss a little bit because you didn't overlap enough, that's fine, then you come back and trim from start to the end of the lawn to correct it, don't trim partial of the length, it will look ugly. And from time to time, stop and clean the clipping built ups from underneath the trimer and cart, it would make it less messy clippings afterwards. the only thing I wish it has is the collection basket, it's more work to clean up the clippings than the actual mowing.

After reading the mixed reviews, I was apprehensive about this purchase but am so glad I made it. I'm also very glad I decided on the CORDED version. After a recent move, I'm only responsible for taking care of my small, living-room sized back lawn. Rocky pavers in the side yard made lugging even my little push mower to the back a chore, and storage space in the garage is limited. Thus, on paper, this appeared to meet all my requirements: light enough to carry (rather than wheel) from garage to the back of the house, and very easy to store when broken apart. However, I've owned other B+D cordless products before (trimmer, leaf blower, hedge trimmer) and am familiar with their downsides: the batteries take a long time to charge, they have reasonable power for about 15 minutes and then slowly peter out, they need to be replaced about every two years, and forgetting to charge them is an all-too-convenient excuse to postpone yard work). So I decided to go with the less-popular corded version, and I'm very glad I did. It has about 2x to 3x the power of my B+D cordless trimmer, and of course, the power never dies out. In mower form, this product is incredibly easy to use and feels more like using a vacuum than a lawn mower. In fact, the similarities to a vacuum made it easy to keep the cord out of the way--hold the cord in one hand and push the mower with the other. The results were a low, even, professional mow that does not have the heavy wheel marks of a gas mower or the choppy quality of a push mower. Once detached from the trimmer, the mower deck can be washed off with a hose. The pieces are now hanging separately off hooks in my garage, taking up no floor space. Highly recommend.

I bought this little trimmer/mower in August 2018 and I LOVE it. This is the ultimate mowing machine for a little old lady such as myself. It's light and maneuverable, easy to carry, and starts every time. I got the corded version, and judging from the reviews of the battery-powered ones, I'm glad I did. If you have run a vacuum cleaner in your house you'll have no problem managing the electric cord for this machine. One commenter suggested that it feeds string every time you start and stop the motor, so I don't stop it unless I have to. I think that's the way to go. The first spool of string lasted for two months last summer, and it just ran out during the first mowing this spring. That seems fair to me. Replacing the spool was simple and easy. It's not a powerful gas mower with a bag and adjustable mowing height. It's not built to last forever, but it's cheap enough to replace every year if you need to. It's not going to impress the neighbors with its sleek design. It's plastic and, yes, cheap-looking, and lightweight. But for a small yard it works GREAT.

I have my 10 year old son cut our grass. We have a small front yard with a broad curvature. This is PERFECT! Detaches and reattaches fine. This is not a wide cut, so dont slam this for poor cutting. It does tear the grass, Duh, it is a weed wacker. Ive read some other reveiws and laughed at some stupid ones. ITs a WEED WACKER! Its been several weeks and my lawn is still thick and lush. My son loves to use it, FOR NOW LOL. The exstension cord fits right in the handle. Other reveiws said they had difficulty. A replacement repaired plug end WILL NOT fit. Any standard cord plug end fits in fine. I like the fact the designed a loop for the cord to be LOOPED through the handle to LOCK the cord in place. Nice touch. I for one am an old hand with Black and DEcker power tools and have watched them go from a quality tool maker to burn down in flames for crappy tools. Seems maybe someone noticed there no longer recognized as a NAME BRAND. This wacker is a nice design comback. The deck most deffintly needs strengthing. But if it does sag and crack. Ive already palnned for how to FIX that. Long review. I am a full on straight up Jack of all Trades. I dont buy crap. If i find an item to be, BACK to Amazon it goes!

I have used a crap weedwhacker for years that I had to advance the string manually. I finally broke down and bought a cheap Greenworks one last year, and it was no better and advanced the string too fast and became a leg whacker. So, I was skeptical of this one. I have only used it once, but it was amazing! It was SUPER EASY to setup; just snap on the guard and you're good to go whack weeds. It was VERY WELL ENGINEERED and easy to use! As a weedwhaker, it advanced the string perfectly. After doing my entire yard, the string was the same length, and I didn't have to mess with it once. The mower attachment is the best invention since high speed Internet! It easily snaps in, and the whole thing is as light as.... a weed whacker! Instead of mowing my yard in strips, it was more like I was vacuuming my back yard! This is good and bad I suppose because it did take longer than my old mower and wear on my arm. However, the final mow looked just as good and even. Plus, while I was mowing, it was easy to snap the whacker out of the base and do corners and edging, so no extra step to do! My grass was overgrown, and this thing plowed through it without slowing down, like a small bush hog! No bog down problems like I've had from electric and gas mowers. I did have some problems with the whacker coming out of the base when going over rough terrain, but otherwise it was great. Keeping the base clean of grass clippings will help it stay locked in. Speaking of clippings, it mulches the grass very well since there is no place for the clippings to escape and the string keeps spinning full speed. I agree with a previous review, if this thing breaks, I will buy another one. This thing is so well built and works so great, even if you just need a weed whacker and have no intention of using the base to mow, I would but this one and use the base to store it!

I LOVE IT!!! If it died tomorrow, I'd buy another one in a heartbeat. I had my doubts and thought it would be flimsy and cheap. I'm a 63 year old woman who has a lot of weed cutting to do annually for a fire break. I was tired of heavy string trimmers to haul around but afraid electric would be a pain in the tush. When I opened the box, at first I questioned the purchase but I can honestly tell you, I've done more with this product than Black and Decker expected of the average purchaser. I'm cutting weeds on the hill and on the flat land. Some are up to my waist. On the shorter stuff (about knee high) I put it in the mower with wheels holder. It's lighter to push around than my vacuum cleaner. When it's in the string trimmer mode, the ability to shorten (I'm 5'1" tall) the shaft and adjust the handle takes the strain off my back and arms. Well done B&D! The string feeds flawlessly and I've had no issues with it. I've gone through 2 1/4 reels doing about 1 2/3 acres with no mishaps. It doesn't like thick green weeds and takes some concentration to cut through those. Remember, this is supposed to do sissy stuff like lawn trimming, lawns. light short weeds, etc., so I'm really working the poor little thing to death. I have no problem adding extension cords in order to get the job done because it's so darned easy and light to use. Also, I've hit the industrial extension cord twice with the string and it hasn't put a dent in the outer casing. What would I like to see in an updated version? When you plug the cord into the handle, I'd like to see a snap, toggle, something to cover where you slip the cord in the slot so it doesn't come undone. The plug has loosened on a few occasions. I told you I'm not gentle with it. I'd kill to be able to swap out the string with a blade. I'd even buy a second B&D electric trimmer that had a blade if it worked like this one does. Heck, I'd put it through the ringer as a real life tester if you wanted. Hint hint B&D. LOL!

Love this little mower/trimmer. Simple to assemble. My lawn was the size that might require a broader based mower, so I was reluctant to buy and spent a lot of time researching before purchasing. However, it turns out to be the perfect size and doesn't overwhelm my limited storage space. I'm a chick, so square footage is usually lost on me, but if I had to guess, my lawn is probably 600 to 700 square feet. You do have to be careful that the trimmer/edger snaps in correctly or it could pull out while using the mower. I'm not sure how I got away with it, but I am 54 years old and have never mowed a lawn, so this was a perfect compromise for me, easy for someone without a lot of experience with lawn equipment. I do regret not purchasing the cordless option, but I think with time, I will learn how to be more efficient with the corded version.

Wow, I could go on and on about how much I like this little combo mower! Like other reviewers, I had three-foot-tall grass, this little machine took it right down! It's like a cute, fun, toy! I have an average size city yard, and I love this! Some say it's only good for small lawns, I don't agree; I wouldn't want to use anything else. It is so handy to be able to trim the hedges and around the trees as you go. It weighs next to nothing and is simple to clean. The BLACK+DECKER MTE912 6.5-Amp Electric 3-in-1, is the best mower I have ever had and I have been mowing lawns for 46 years! I did not get the one with the battery, that would be nothing, but a hassle. I mow when I want, as long as I want, no: battery hassle, no gas, no oil, etc. I would definitely buy another, makes a great gift too!

Recv'd my corded version, unit today and assembled it in minutes. Cut my lawn nicely and edge trimmed my carport and sidewalk as well. Worked perfectly. 2 items for a heads up. First - The unit has a TWO PRONGED electric plug and the plug collar was slightly too small for my outdoor extension cord's three pronged plug to fit through to reach the plug. I solved this by modifying the size of my three prong plug by shaving the edges down, until it fit thru the collar. Secondly- I could find no instructions on how to raise the mower wheels. It is easy enough to do by turning the mower over (unplugged) and manually pulling the wheel axle into the desired position. This unit is a great idea. Mower, weed-whacker and edger in one.
