you can enjoy hiking and mountain with a toddler on your back

Totally love it. I took my 18-month son with this to national parks on my back and it works perfectly. Quality is good, and the weight allocation is almost perfect---most of the weight will be on your waist, while still some pressure on the shoulders. Carrying a toddler in it is like hiking with a normal mountain bag of 30-40lb of gears -- totally doable and you can still enjoy hiking and the view of the mountain. My son also enjoys staying inside the carrier.

It is very secure and both my husband and I feel very comfortable taking him on hikes! There is only one zippered storage compartment but it is HUGE! So it’s all you really need! We love it

Works great and is comfortable to carry

Our baby (11 months) loves this carrier! He falls asleep within 5 minutes of walking. Works great and is comfortable to carry. I would recommend buying the sun shade to go with it.

Exactly what we needed!

This is perfect! We did a 5 mile hike to test it out and our little guy was so comfortable! He smiled for the first half of the trip and slept the whole way back. Easy to use. Lightweight. Comfortable for adult and child. Quality material.

High quality

Very lightweight, nice padded seat and side/underneath pockets. Cool back for parent carrying and generous padded shoulder straps. Our toddler is 4 yo and 39.5 pounds so max carrying capacity for an adult. She sits up high and likes the view but she likes best of all sitting in carrier to watch TV (as pictured)! Worth the price for hiking.

Stop researching and get this one

We've been using the Deuter Kid Comfort 1 for over a year now, and it hasn't diminished in quality. We spent hours upon hours researching a framed hiking child backpack carrier, and after several debates over brands and styles, we decided on this. We are so glad we purchased this one! our 2 1/2 year old loves riding in this, and the fact that it free stands makes it even more amazing. My husband is 5' 9" and I am 5'1" and we can both use it without any problems thanks to the fact that the lumbar support adjusts.

Really excellent.

This is very well designed and well made. We have no complaints and are only pleased and recommend it. Do get the sun/rain shield. In some pictures it looks too low, like the child is closed in, but that is not the case and then you don't have to worry as much about sunscreen and hats--which in my experience toddlers hate. I got this for my son-in-law for Father's Day for my 11-month-old grandson, and the parents, including my daughter, who also used it, were really thrilled. They like to camp and hike and also have a 9-year-old, so this really gave them much better mobility.

Comfort and well made.

Bought this for my grandson so my daughter could return to hiking again; she reports the carrier with the one year old aboard is light/balanced enough to allow her good mobility in the woods and especially likes the frame that makes it easy to set down or pick up. The straps are comfortable and the only negative would be that the area where the baby can put his feet might get muddy from shoes or boots, that requires some attention on outings.

Worth it!

This is PERFECT for us and our almost-2-yr-old boy. He's about 31 lbs and I can carry him comfortably in this carrier. I'm 5'5", about 150 lbs and this is easily adjusted for me to use. There are several adjustments that can be made for different heights, shoulder widths, waist sizes, etc. If I carry him too long one way, tugging a thing or two right quick shifts the weight enough to make it comfortable again. Its breathable, which is HUGE!! My back doesn't get hot, and my son stays cool. He does great in it because he's comfortable, too. There's enough storage in the bottom to hold several diapers, a few snacks, my sunglasses case, and there's still some room to spare. I like that the smaller storage area makes it much less bulky than some of the others. I'll strap a backpack on my husband if we need more storage for a longer hike! Great purchase for us, and he can use this until he's 45 pounds. Plus I think it'll make it to baby #2, too.

Highly recommend!

Wonderful! My husband and daughter both love this backpack! Every time we take it out, she immediately tries to get inside! She's been so happy to take walks with us in this and has even fallen asleep in it, which is rare for her now at 18 mos. Highly recommend!
