These are very useful. I recommend using just as a reward first with no pill at all. Then, add the pill, and dog is less likely to be examining the new thing. These are large, so if pills are small, break them in half and only use half. This stuff moulds like play dough, only kinda oily. Be SURE to seal the bags or they dry out. If dog burns out, then go back to using as rewards, add some peanut butter. You can line up a whole group of halves, and the one with the pill in the middle of the group, and start giving them to the dog, but make sure the dog sees the next one right there in your hand. Most dogs will quickly finish one to get to the next, and you can slip the loaded on in the middle of the group. ("Machine gun" method) Feeding some plain ones to another dog, then some to the dog who needs the pill can get the dog very interested in getting his share.

I have a 14 1/2 year old dog that gets 3 prescriptions twice daily for arthritis and mobility issues. These pill pockets are the easiest way she will take her pills. She never gives me trouble and always chews and swallows everything (I cram one capsule, and 2 tablets inside). Getting pills twice a day, this 60 pack is a great value as it lasts me an entire month. The only downside I can report is the zipper closures on the bags are very hit or miss. In 3 bags, I had 2 of them tear away from the bag. This is easily remidied by pouring them into a ziplock bag, but might be an annoyance to you and is worth mentioning.

I have to give my dog about a dozen pills a day for the rest of his life due to his liver problems. I resisted trying these at first because I thought it would be too pricey given the number of pills I needed to give him. So I struggled with peanut butter, cold cuts and it was a hassle and he would spit some out it just made it very stressful. I finally tried these and I will never look back. It has made it so easy and quick to give him his meds. He loves them and taking his pills is probably the highlight of his day now! And I only use 2 pockets a day since a lot of his pills are small I just rip off a bit and wrap the pill see my pics. One whole pocket for a pill seems like a waste unless the pill is super big.

I spent so much money trying to find a glucosamine supplement my mastiff would eat. Chewables, liquid broth type to pour over the food, hiding the tablets in cheese, lunch meat, or just shoving them down his throat. That stuff is very expensive and he needs several for his weight so not just one pill. Keep that in mind. While the last option of putting them down his throat isn't difficult, it slimes your whole arm and is kind of gross. The chewables, though advertised as meat flavored, are eaten around. I have to break them up in small pieces. The liquid was ignored - even though he likes broth from a store bought container (this was advertised as beef flavor) and then his food was soggy and stuck in the bowl. He finds half of the pills if I try to hide them and because he weighs so much, he needs a lot of pills so hiding them in people food really isn't good for him. Anyway, I tried these as a last resort and just laughed thinking he would obviously not touch them. Nope! Literally the cheapest option and that dumb dog thinks he's getting a treat every time. Wth. I've been fighting this for a YEAR and I could have just fooled him with this crap? Unreal. Also, he's excited about the first one so I can fool him by sticking two pills in the first pocket since he swallows it whole. I swear. I could have killed him. Lol...

When I was told my dog would need to take a pill daily, I laughed... there's no way! The vet told me about these and they work perfectly. The first few times, my dog did separate the pill from the treat, dropped the pill on the floor and swallowed the treat. I solved that by gently holding my hand under her chin after I gave it to her so that she didn't have the opportunity to manipulate it. She has given up on even trying that trick now and just gladly takes it every day. It's been at least 6 months and she still comes running when she hears the package.

I've been using Pill Pockets for the last year or so. My dog has never spat one back out, and I find them much easier to use than e.g., peanut butter or bread. In the past, I've used the tablet size pill pockets, but decided to try the capsule version. For roughly the same price, the capsule version is far more economical. The pill pockets are huge! You can easily split them in half to make the bag last longer. I will never go back to the tablet version again.

One of the only ways I can get my Rottie to take her pills. She gives me a hassle sometimes, because she might see me putting pills in them, and she decides she doesn't want her pills. But ! Later, I offer to her and she thinks it's a treat ! These have overall been a lifesaver. Jasmine has an auto-immune disorder and must have pills several times a day. I have another rottie that I use these with sometimes, but they don't work so well with her because she has a tendency to sift through it and spit out the pills anyway!!! That's just her. The Pill Pockets are great. I have them on auto-refill which comes in handy.

Pill Pockets -- my dog usually got as excited about these as he did for real treats and never refused them!! My dog is "the world's fussiest dog," as my husband describes him, and he needs to take 8 pills twice daily to treat a paw infection, along with his chronic conditions. I was able to get 2 capsules into each Pill Pocket. The bag contains 30 Pill Pockets, so we went through it quickly. Pill Pockets contain rehydrated chicken, glycerin, wheat flour, vegetable oil, wheat gluten, dried corn syrup, dried cultured skim milk, natural chicken bouillon flavor, natural flavors, sodium bisulfate, xantham gum, mixed tocopherols (preservative). I was hoping he would like something with less processed ingredients, but that didn't happen. More details: recently, the dog caught onto my tricks -- he sometimes rejects peanut butter and has even become suspicious of cream cheese, so I bought several products to conceal pills. Here is the breakdown of the others: Pill Yums -- came as a container of 30 "small" pieces, which were ~5/8 x 1/2 x 3/8", although other sizes are available. He ate these 75% of the time, although at first he was reluctant. The country of origin isn't on the package, although Spring Pet Products is in TX. Ingredients: glycerin, corn starch, cheese powder, corn solids, vegetable oil, sucrose, artificial flavoring, caramel color, sorbic acid, calcium proprionate. Pill Buddy Naturals -- ingredients looked more natural than some other options, but that doesn't matter since he refused them half the time. Made in Canada. These come as 2 attached pieces in a little cellophane-wrapped package, with 15 packages per bag = 30 total (which doesn't last long if your dog takes lots of pills, but would be fine for a pill or 2 per day). Each piece can fit a capsule, or 2 smaller pills (like synthroid + Pepcid) and these are easy to mold around the pills to conceal them. Contains barley flour, chicken, vegetable oil, molasses, whey protein, natural flavors, garlic powder, rosemary extract, xantham gum, citric acid and mixed tocopherols. Pill Paste by Earth Balance -- he ate this ~75% of the time. It comes in a small container (2.1 oz, 2 1/2" in diameter, 7/8" high) so it won't last long, but one nice feature is that you use just enough to coat the pill, so it's flexible for anything from tiny pills to big tablets, and much easier to work than Tomlyn's Pill Masker. Made in USA. Contains wheat flour, corn syrup, vegetable glycerin, vegetable oil, stabilized rice bran, dried pork liver, natural flavor, vegetable lecithin, salt, dried cheese, dried corn syrup, xantham gum, sorbic acid and calcium proprionate. Pill-Masker by Tomlyn -- a 4 oz. jar of bacon-flavored paste, which again was flexible for hiding tiny pills to big tablets. However, he turned his nose up at this consistently. No country of origin on the label, but Tomlyn is in TX. This is also labeled as appropriate for cats, so if you have to give pills to multiple pets, it may be helpful. Contains Brewers dried yeast, glycerin, lecithin, vegetable oil, salt, spray dried liver powder, cheese powder, natural flavors, arabic gum, sorbic acid (preservative), calcium proprionate (preservative), sodium acid pyrophosphate and Rosemary extract.

We have a senior disabled dog that takes quite a few pills per day. Leo is very picky and we have to alternate what we put his pills in. Unfortunately, over the last couple of years he has "caught" pills in some different items and will refuse to eat that item again (he may be old but has an amazing memory). We are always looking for options that are soft enough for him to chew, that he likes the flavor of and so far Leo has liked Greenies Pill Pockets. They are nice and soft which makes it easy to hide the pill and easy for him to chew. He does not like them daily, but we do change up his pill carrier so he doesn't get bored or suspicious and he will eat them a few times per week, which is a win in our house!! We did try giving them to him a couple of days in a row and he wanted nothing to do with them. Overall, we are pleased with the product as he is still willing to eat it. Little wins.

These work great for hiding pet medications. Just place the pill inside the pocket, squeeze to seal the edges, and then roll into a ball. I have four dogs, three of which will eat a loaded pill pocket with no problem, but for the fourth who tends to chew her treats thus discovering the pill inside, I simply place a loaded pill pocket inside a bowl of her favorite moist dog food and wait to see that she eats everything. This usually does the trick and she consumes the food along with the loaded pill pocket without noticing anything out of the ordinary. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION THAT YOU MIGHT FIND USEFUL: Because pill pockets are moldable, you can break the large size in half and cover most pills using only half of one, making the large size pill pockets the most economical. To prevent transfer of medicine smell or taste, do not touch Pill Pockets treat with the hand that held the pill. INGREDIENTS (CHICKEN FLAVORED PILL POCKETS): Chicken, glycerin, wheat flour, vegetable oil, dried corn syrup, wheat gluten, corn flour, natural flavors, lecithin, brewer's dried yeast, potassium sorbate (to preserve freshness), salt, methylcellulose, ascorbic acid (source of vitamin C), mixed tocopherols, vitamin E supplement.
