I am strictly a casual video edit kinda guy. Trim clips, change lengths, move stuff around, add audio. I have published a few Youtube videos using MS Movie Maker. But my Gawd MM is so clunky and transitions are flaky and always an Easter egg hunt. Recently started another video. Couldn't even get transitions to work at all. Spent way too much time researching that issue. Finally gave up and began the 'replacement' search.. Stumbled across Movie Studio 13. Took about an hour to make a test video with audio. (I never read instructions unless all else fails). The only real criticism I have is the terminology us 'mere mortals' have trouble with... " Preset" is a typical example. I make my audio files with Audacity. Easy-Peasy to add. Found that Amazon had it for 30 bucks and change. Cheaper than the Sony site.

Does exactly everything I need it to edit YouTube videos. Easy to learn and use. The effects and title cards are limited, but I don't really need much. It's also a great deal at $30 for a download version of this. I'm able to make HD videos as well.

This software works great on my windows 10 pc, I've been using this software for about 5 months now. For the other people writing reviews about "non user friendly" or "it's to basic" clearly don't have an understanding in sony editing software. This does basic editing and some even moderate to even some complex editing if you understand how to use the software. I have an Elgato HD capture card and I render all my clips and do decent editing in this software. I used trials for sony vegas pro and I got really familiar with it and realized I didn't need to spend 400$'s on sony vegas edit or 600$'s on sony vegas pro. This software does everything I need to cropping, adding text, effects, splitting, fading, audio reduction, audio increase, mute audio in specific channels, rendering clips for youtube ready, and much much more. Wish I knew about this software years ago I had no idea there were lower end versions of sony editing software. If you get the disk there is no need to install the disk just go to sony software website and get the latest version of this software to run at it's best. If you haven't ever used any sony edting software before the best thing to do is go to youtube and look up basic tutorials and get familiar with the options and the interface of the software. Within a few edit projects you will get more and more comfortable with the software and it will become second nature and be very pleased. Sony Vegas Pro 13 and Sony Movie Studio 13 are virtually the same software that both do the same basic things except its about 560$'s less than sony vegas pro. Vegas Pro clearly has really in depth options and tons more options but majority of what is seen on youtube and other videos it's clearly not being used. All videos such as commentaries, gameplay, and reviews are done with basic editing and can be done in Sony Movie Studio 13. Heres an example of a simple edited video done in Sony Movie Studio 13 by me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KgGSh_HXu9s In conclusion, ignore the bad reviews. Most of them I read have to do with interface problems. Instead of learning the software or experimenting they take out their anger in a review to try to deface the product.

If all you're looking for is something to edit basic movies with standard effects, then this is for you. I've tried the more expensive ones, but for how little I edit videos they were overkill (especially their price). This works excellent for me on Windows 8 64bit. It's fast at importing video and editing. I use it for overlaying recorded tracks on top of videos. What really sold this for me was the waveform preview. It made lining up audio super easy. Again, if you're not looking for something advanced and want something that gets the job done with ease then give this a shot.

Normally this software is very expensive, but when its on sale, the price is great. Very nice affects when producing your own videos. Easy to use, no installation issues.

I've been using this software for about a month, first as a trial and then as a full purchase. While I have no doubt that there is better software out there for much more expensive, this is a great entry-level piece of editing software for those who want a product that looks and feels professional without a bank-breaking price tag. Of course, it's recommended you have a powerful computer, which for some is a prohibitive point on its own. I have been making videos 3 times a week for a little over a month now, with most of the edits being content trimming, panning, and cropping. It has done everything I've needed and surprised me with a few options I didn't know I had. One warning: it doesn't seem to play nice with the AVI video format. This is easily sidestepped with a format converter, but it might garner some unnecessarily negative reviews if people are unprepared for it.

Great software for editting down my son's baseball game videos.

I use this to edit my Youtube videos. It has a very easy to follow U.I. and a "how do I" section where you just type in what you want to do and it gives you step by step instructions to work you through it. Green screening(chroma keying) is a breeze with this, just add Chromakeyer to video clip, select the color you want to key out(either manually or with color matching too) adjust the thresholds, and ta-da! Definitely recommend this to anyone looking to produce quality videos on a budget like me

Perfect for video editing. Easy to use, really well designed. Missing a bunch of things you don't get if you buy standard edition, but still good price for a really well made program.

For creating videos of my recent trip to Ireland, I needed something that was a bit more in-depth than GoPro Studio but not too complicated. Sony Movie Studio has been a great choice. It is easy to place media - video tracks, audio tracks, music, text and makes transitions between shots incredibly easy. If you are just learning video editing, Sony Movie Studio challenges your skills without overwhelming you. For where I am at in creating videos, I love this software - it is perfect for me.
