This is exactly what I have been looking for and what I wanted. It's most definitely worth the money - don't settle for the non-LED ones! I'm very happy it has a brightness control. And it's so light and slim that it just makes me want to refine my drawings more just to use it more :)

I've used a traditional flourescent light box for years. I wanted one that was flatter, rather than elevated above the work surface. I use this for stained glass work, traditional glass painting, and other crafts, and the elevated profile of other light boxes can make it difficult to work with. This fit my need exactly, and at a great price! The product itself is beautiful, and is less than a 1/4" off the work surface. The light is adjustable--just press on the power button until it is the brightness you need. I found that it will get just as bright as my older light box if I need it, but being able to turn it down is great for some applications. The screen reminds me of my Kindle Paperwhite. It has a similar look and texture, and with the adjustable brightness, seems very similar when they are both turned up to the brightest level. I haven't tried powering it from my computer, but I did use a regular USB power plug to power it. (The product comes with a USB cable but not the USB wall adapter. That's listed in the description, but is worth noting. You'll need a plug adapter if you don't plan on using it with your computer.) I should also mention that the product is extremely light. That means it is easy to move around or take with you if you are working outside your studio. A great bonus. For the price, this is one of the best products I've bought on Amazon.

This is a very nice small light box. It is ideal for tracing or for using a guideline underlay for calligraphy. I bought one for myself, them bought two more for friends. Both of them share my high opinion. My only caveat is that as shipped, the light pad derives its power from a USB port, which means that it must be in close proximity to a computer. This was inconvenient, so I purchased small Belkin power adapters from Amazon.

I've been putting off purchasing a light box for a while and I've very satisfied with my choice of the Huion LED Light Pad as opposed to a light box. A far cry from the old standard light boxes, this is much more modern and efficient. It's light and compact. Portable enough to move around the house and I can tuck it away with my sketchbook. USB powered, so make sure you have access to a USB port. Cord is pretty long so it isn't much of a hinderance. Light is adjustable to accommodate different thicknesses of paper.

I've bought two Huion products before: both graphic tablets, the first lasted me a year, but I trusted their newer model enough to buy a second, which I've had for little over a year so we'll see if their products are long lasting. I say all this because Huion seems to be doing well in the market with very competitive prices, good features and good reviews, enough for me to trust their other products, and that's partly why I picked their light pad over others. So far I'm not disappointed! I've had this light pad since January but I've only started using it on a daily basis since Inktober started and it's been so helpful! Its sleek and doesn't feel cheap despite being super lightweight. One tap turns it on to the highest level, one tap turns it off. Only challenges are the hyper sensitivity of the on switch (very easy to brush against it and change the setting), and knowing how long to press to change dimness levels requires a bit of patience. It's bright enough to shine through 300lbs watercolour paper and Bristol paper. The only time the dimness level wasn't strong enough was while tracing on Bristol paper over Rendr sketchbook paper. That's due to the thickness of both papers and Rendr's unique paper quality. Working in the dark with the light pad as my only light source was a quick fix for that. But otherwise I don't need to. Overall I highly recommend this to someone who is looking for an affordable light pad that gets the job done.

Wow, i really love this light pad! It's very very bright at its highest setting and also very thin and very sleek as well. I was worried that sketches i have done on regular paper would not show through a thicker paper like watercolor paper or card stock, but it really shows up pretty well (and only using pencil, no less!). The light is even and a nice solid soft white color that doesn't strain my eyes. It doesn't feel cheap or of poor quality. I am very pleased with this product and is easy to use, no fuss, no mess at all. I highly recommend it if you are looking for a light pad!

I'm not sure how long Huion has been selling battery powered light pads, but it's one of the best purchases I've made for creating my art work (and I wish I'd had it ages ago). It's a fairly straightforward gadget, so the instructions are just a couple short paragraphs with a detailed diagram of the light pad. I don't think the instructions need to be longer, but there are certainly a couple opportunities to be more clear. Example: since the battery needed charging initially, it took me two tries to figure out which way to have the switch toggled in order to get a charge - easily remedied with a little sticker or symbol. Otherwise, once it's charged, on/off/battery, and operating the light strength were all rather intuitive. Before I bought this light pad I was using natural light from my window to transfer my work. Not only was it uncomfortable to stand and trace on a window, I could only work if it was bright outside. Why hadn't I bought a light box before? I didn't want to deal with some huge, heavy, cumbersome beast, and I was hesitant to make an expensive mistake. I would rather go without than waste money on something junky. I've been using my light pad for just under two weeks. There is so much that I really love about my light pad. I can sit comfortably on my sofa or the middle of a cafe with the light pad on my lap while I draw without an annoying cord. I can rotate the pad for comfort depending on what I'm working on, and easily switch it on as I need it for tracing and transferring, and back off while sketching. The lighting is even, and the ability to adjust the strength of the light has been quite useful since I'm often switching between copy paper on copy paper, to bristol on copy paper, and then bristol on bristol during the same drawing session. It fits in my backpack and is super light weight, so I can bring it and my laptop with me when I head out to work on comics or sketches with friends or at a coffee shop. And I love having the option of powering it with my computer or a wall outlet. The one minor annoyance is that I keep accidentally brushing the touch activated power with my left hand and turning the light pad off while it's on and I'm working. (I'm right handed, however a left handed reviewer mentioned the same issue). I suspect it will just take some experimenting to figure out how I can avoid touching the power button. Or maybe this will just be something that happens. It's a fantastic solution for me, and was well worth the price. I would not hesitate to buy it again.

I love my new HUION light box. I am and have been a quilter for 20 plus years. The last 5 or 6 years I have been doing a lot of appliqué quilts. Other light boxes I have used were bulky and hard to use. They seemed more fragile then this HUION light box. They weren't as bright and they were harder to store. Quilters like other artists have plenty of supplies. This HUION light box is much more practical to store as it is the same size for drawing on but much more compact. Most importantly to me was the price. Since I buy so many supplies I appreciate spending less and getting more. I would highly recommend buying this light box. This is a sample of one of the appliqué quilt blocks I have made using this light box.

Beautifully made. I'm very happy. I would like to clarify the real dimensions. They say it is a 10" x 14" pad with diagonal size of 17.7". There is 2 sizes to consider, the "outside" and the "illuminated". The ILLUMINATED is 9" x 12.5" with a diagonal of 15.5". The OUTSIDE is 10-5/8" x 14" with diagonal of 17.7". Televisions, computers, cell phones, iPads, etc., are all sized according to the SCREEN SIZE, not the size of the outside plastic housing. Anyway, this is the L4S model. I could not find this model on Huion's web site. I bought 2 each & gave one to daughter for birthday. The dimming is gradual, not in steps like low, medium, and high. I love the gradual dimming. Also, after you turn it off and restart it, it remembers your last setting and restarts at that setting.
