My first battery powered yard tools!
I've been waiting for some time to write a review so I would really know what this trimmer and blower was really like after regular use. I am surprised at how good the trimmer works. I almost never use full power and even at that it has plenty of power. The blower is OK, it will blow away grass and leaves from your driveway. It will even blow away small rocks. The blower will not blow away frog poop and it is not the blower you want if you are trying to blow leaves off of or through grass. It has enough power to get the regular suburban house done, but not over kill power some are use to. I do still have an electric blower but I haven't used it since getting this one so that should tell you something. I love that I can just snap in the battery and go! I do not miss the hassle of a gas trimmer and I don't miss having to deal with the 100 foot cord for my electric blower. This pair is perfect for the average suburban home owner that has a regular yard that is well maintained and just needs the average yard care done. The battery power last plenty for me. Probably 20 mins or more of continuous use, again if you have a suburban home you should be fine. If you live on an acre or more with lots of vegetation maybe you should look elsewhere.

I give it an A+
Love my new trimmer! I'm a 5'4" tall woman and it's great that you can adjust the length of the trimmer. I don't work out at all and I was in the yard for two hours trimming with this. I did have to stop and break a few times. My small hands got sore squeezing the trigger. When I was done my arms felt like they got a work out but not in a bad way. I did most of my weeds on the light setting, number 1, and even tough ones I only turned it up to number three. It has way more power than I need! The blower was great too, super light weight! The trimmer is super light too. It only comes with one battery that you have to switch between tools, the charger is a slow charge and takes (I think) 6 hrs. I bought some after-market spare batteries so I wouldn't have to stop to charge or switch out tools. No gas, no oil, no mess, light weight, no bumping. I give it an A+

I'm reviewing the 40V B&D not the 36V. 5 stars all the way.
I really wish Amazon would separate the 36V reviews from the 40V reviews. I.got the 40V trimmer/edger with the blower. I couldn't be happier with this purchase. They both have the power control 1-6 and rotating the edger to weed eater couldn't be easier. I also have the much advertised workx edger/trimmer and I found the wheel to be a hideous annoyance. Once you get a little dirty or head in it it just jams up. Useless! But with the 40V B&D the metal guide is perfect. Gives a perfect cut every time and it's so light, who needs a wheel. Second the battery lasted long enough to do my badly neglected yard and also my neighbors. Plus it only takes an hour to charge versus those huge batteries that take 8 hours to charge. And I'm in love with the blower! I use it for everything from getting webs off of my rafters, to blowing out the annoying particals that get in the handles of your car. Worn the blower you just now them out. No more using wipes, digging with your nails to get every speck. It's also great to blow out your car vents and floor boards. Same in the house. I use it to blow out dust from under the beds, stove, refrigerator. It's great if you mulch too because you just blow the stray grass back in the yard. 5 minutes Tops No more moving lawn furniture or bikes or any thing to clean. And those pesky autum leaves? No more raking and ruining your plants. I love both these pieces for ease and reliability.

Great Trimmer!
I purchased the Black and Decker 40 volt Chainsaw first and just loved it! The power for the size was more than sufficient. The battery seemed to last about an hour of cutting. And it was so lightweight it was easy to use. So when I began shopping for weed trimmers it was only natural for me to start here. I did look at gas powered trimmers but went with this trimmer because at the very least it would give me a second 40 volt battery for use with the chainsaw. But this trimmer more than held it's own on it's own merits. Again, it is so light because there is no motor so it is very easy to use. I love just pushing the button and going, no bad gas, no gummy carburetors, and no extension chords just go! The power setting allows you to either have more power or conserve battery life. Even on max power the battery lasts quite awhile. The only knock, and it's not a big deal, is that I really don't understand the self feeding line. When you snag the line and it pulls out, just like any trimmer you have to stop and rethread the line. It doesn't seem to be any better or any worse than any other trimmer I've used before. All in all, this is a great product and if you need something else in Black and Deckers 40 volt series then this trimmer is a no brainer!

Trimmer great, blower not so much so but still---
5 stars for the Trimmer, not the blower though. Love the trimmer! It is light weight but really does the job. So much quieter than the gas models too. Don't get me wrong though, this trimmer is great for smaller areas but probably would not work as well for someone who has large areas needing trimming. For along fences, walkways, walls etc. it is the perfect tool. The battery charges quickly and love the fact that you can leave the battery charging all the time without worry of it burning up. Love the charge indicator too. For the price, this is a great deal! Now on to the blower. Works OK to just clear the sidewalk after trimming but really not powerful enough for heavy leaf volume or larger areas such as driveways or roofs. We have many nut trees and the squirrels leave nut shells on our roof but we need more power than this supplies for those jobs. Again, considering the price, not a bad deal for small areas and handy too. Good pair!

Awesome electric combo set!
I have stayed away from electric yard tools for a really long time. I remember when they were first gaining popularity that they would run out of battery long before you could finish your yard. This set does not do that! Plus, the price is awesome for a combo set. Both of these items have adjustable speed so you can make it work as hard as you need it to. I would say that if you have more than half-an-acre then you may need to get an extra battery with it. If not, you should be able to weed-eat your entire yard with this thing! Would definitely recommend!

Better than expected
I do very few product reviews. Being a Mechanical Engineer must make me a more demanding consumer because I find most products do not meet my expectations. However, this Black and Decker 40 volt product line has exceeded my expectations. I originally purchase this combo for the blower. My wife wanted a lightweight and easy to use blower so she could blow off the back patio and this fits her needs very well and I thought i could use the line trimmer for some lite trimming. We have two acres with a tremendous amount of weed eating and trimming. It didn't take but a couple of uses with this line trimmer to find out it was a work horse. On most mowing days Im able to get done with one battery charge and I get my gasoline trimmer out only for the toughest weeds and brush. Im now on my third summer with this line trimmer being my primary tool for all of my edging and grass trimming and it still is going strong. I would have never expected this amount of durability or power from such a light tool. I have since added a hedge trimmer and chain saw and so far very satisfied with them.

Beyond My Expectations: In Performance & Customer Service!
I love this setup! No more mixing fuel/oil. No more fighting to get the darn thing to start. No more having the stink of 2 stroke exhaust on me and my clothes. To be honest, when I was unpacking it, I was very concerned with how happy I would be based upon how light weight it was; I was wrong! The trimmer has PLENTY of power. I find I usually have the trimmer set on power 2 (range is 1 - 6). The head of the trimmer flips, very easily, to allow easy edging of sidewalks and flower beds. The appropriately titled "Sweeper" is just that... it is NOT A BLOWER. This does a fantastic job of "sweeping" any grass clippings, leaves & small twigs from my sidewalks, driveway, deck, porch & patio! This WILL NOT act as a leaf blower in your lawn to wrangle the fall leaves! It moves light debris from smooth surfaces quite well. I have used it to blow the lines of grass clippings left behind by my mower when I let the grass get too long. It worked, in this instance, but a traditional blower would have been the better tool. I live in a typical suburban home. I trim along the sidewalk, curb, driveway, chain link (aka cyclone) fence along one side and the back of my property, around the house and a large swing set/playground. The single battery charge provides enough run time for 2 lawn cuts for both the trimmer & the sweeper. So I only have to charge the battery every other time I cut the grass. Also the auto feed feature on the line for the trimmer works really well. I was prompted to write a review only after the experience I had today. After owning the combo set for 3.5 months, I noticed that the sweeper was starting to growl as it started and stopped. I expect it is an issue with the bearings. I contacted CPO Outlets (the Amazon seller) explaining the issue. They quickly replied and explained that since I was out of the 45 day warranty that I would need to speak to Black & Decker directly at (800) 544-6986. I felt quite deflated upon receiving this news. 17 days later I mustered up the nerve to begin the phone battle to start my warranty claim. I called; I spoke to a live person within 3 min (please note they spoke English); I explained the situation, gave them a model number and date code from the sweeper. After 2 more min on hold the woman returned and explained that there are no parts to service this piece (I got the impression this was by design, not that they were out or back ordered just simply designed as a non serviceable item) and that they would ship one out to me right away! I asked if they wanted me to return the damaged piece. She mentioned that she was going to speak to the engineers & if they wanted to see it, she would be in contact with me & send a return label, but if I receive the new sweeper & haven't heard from her to feel free to dispose of the damaged unit! My phone call time totaled 14:50! I got off the phone and was dumbfounded that it was that easy and painless to resolve this issue! Kudos to you Black & Decker... customer service like it should be!

Whack the weeds, save the noise and rope starting.
I ripped up my shoulder trying to rope start a 2 cycle weed whacker with about 38 consecutive futile attempts, so I trashed it and found this B&D 40V string trimmer. There was an identical one, higher price, and no leaf blower included ... gee ... what should I do? Anyway, I was worried that the battery would die out long before the job was done. No way! My yard is not large, but I can trim front and back, and then clean up the overgrown ditch behind my yard, and still have battery left for blowing off the debris from my patio, driveway, sidewalk, and the dog. Seriously. And, I don't need to wear my ear protection headset that doesn't fit under a hat. I've been using it now for about 6 weeks, and am thrilled to have this package of fairly quiet tools to replace my far more powerful, but oh so difficult to start weed whacker. Who needs all that power? I needed my shoulder back. (Note; I have not yet needed to replace the string spool, or try to re-fill it. I'll probably face that next spring from the looks of things.

Buy it on prime and return it if you dont like, you wont return it!
This is a great combo for the price and the list of good and bad about these two products are both short and simple. Good: -Both very light -Batteries charge quickly -Batteries lasted for 45 min at full speed (6), I have about 700 feet of fence plus my house plus all of the trimming around my curb (which is a lot because I live on a corner) -Trimmer is very powerful cut through everything and even edges well -Have had no issues with auto feed -The batteries never get hot and they don't slow down when they are low -My wife can use both with ease -My kids caagain. the blower -Extra batteries are not very expensive -charger and batteries both have charge indicators that are easy to understand and use -trimmer extends and is long enough for me and I'm 6'3 and easily scales down and the handle works great Bad: -You really should have two batteries, they should have included 2 and raised the price -The blower works well but you have to be close to the objects you are trying to blow away, it is not like a gas or electric blower but it does work well honestly I am very happy with my purchase the li-ion at 40v do not disappoint and I will not bother with gas's or electric cords again. Thinking cost of ownership I have no doubt that this will be cheaper to own and maintain vs a gas in the long run.
