Awesome product based on an already great product!

This is the most complete, powerful, affordable and easy to use product on the market. If you used the 3D Home Architect that was made by Broaderbund, then you will be familiar with this product. It is basically the same interface with a bunch of upgrades. There are so many more options with this product than any of the other products in this price range, I can't even begin to tell you about them all. I own another product touted as "the best". Please, this blows it out of the water. We used it to design a re-model and addition to our house. Ignore the other low reviews here. Most of these people have not given themselves enough time to learn the software. OR they don't have enough computer to run it. Once you buy it, or download it, there is a free update that opens up lots of new features and possibilities. There are also a TON of FREE downloadable additions from the manufactures website. These are things like new brick, tile, textures, decorating items, furniture, carpets, fixtures, and lots more. I'm not going to blow smoke, it does take time to learn, but the manufactures website has dozens of very good video tutorials and the customer service is very good. Get it, play with it, watch the videos and start by building your existing home. This will familiarize you with the software and give you a good base to start with. Then explore, explore, explore! There are so many features included and I am still finding new ones. I just recently discovered how to build a glass shower! So cool!

"Old" Punch Architectural series 4000 is better in 3d realistic look and options to Geoposition the House for the sun shadows being real, then you can input Surveyor coordinates for the land and position the house exactly in the land, also you can copy-paste a Google aerial picture or your own into the terrain so it seems alike the house was erected in the real empty lot. I bought this because the 3d Custom workshop is not working since windows 7 and now I am in windows 10. Both Punch as Chief Architect use OpenGL that windows does not like nor support and you have to be technical to make it work fast as the graphic chip drivers have to be up to date to include their OpenGL driver latest version. Yet Chief Architect has the advantage and focus on the real material list and actual construction price of your project, that is their main focus it seems. So I am keeping both Punch for a realistic 3D view and Chief Architect for the accuracy of materials and cost project. The Chief Architect Premier is the only program I wish to have some day as it is as having an architect working for you with automatic up to code building and designing as you just draw walls, windows, doors, HVAC, electric and even framing at your wish.

Must have if you are building a new home.

I'm in the beginning process of building a new custom home. I'm using an experienced builder and using an existing plan. This program only took a day or so to easly get around. It's very extensive, you could spend months perfecting your design. But..... You don't have to. This software was worth every penny because it let me and my wife try EVERYTHING! We moved around every aspect of our future home. Once you get your house in the system it's super fun and easy to change things. The ability to see real world things in your home compleatly changes how you thought things might look. The best part for us was seeing the "use-ability" of a home. It's one thing to think of all the cool stuff you want in a home, then you get in a home that wasn't well though out and you know. There are so many wish list items we want but we spend far too little time thinking on how things will work when you are actually living there. This Is where this program shines. You can see it. You bed won't fit there. If you put a chair there it's in the way of a door and so on. Buy it and spend the time learning how to use it. It could save you mega bucks on change orders and screw ups.

Really good program to use and the online support forums are great! I got stuck balancing a flat roof with a pitch and the forum members were able to take my file and fix it for me in hours.

A fun program to help design your home

I've enjoyed using this program-it does take some practice and reading, but the tutorials are very handing. The program allows you to get the measurements and dimensions of the structure. Elevations are available as well. The 3D feature is very detailed and you can switch easily from 2 to 3 D. There weren't as many kitchen and furniture pieces to select from as I would have liked, but it's a good program to map out a home plan. They also offer software updates. I don't really know too much about architecture or building, but I think this is a good software for the price. It's better than some of the other programs I've used.

I loved my last version and this one is equally good for the price.

Great software but takes some patience to master.

A powerful program that has a multitude of resources and a lot of potential. As I have seen stated by other purchasers though the learning curve is a bit high for this program, but that is due basically to the high potential available to produce something of quality. I doubt most individuals will master this program immediately but there is a very large library of tutorial videos which will take some time to peruse and help you along the way. If you want something you can jump right into and start producing then this software may not be for you. But if you have the patience to learn all the aspects of this program and want to produce quality work Home Designer Suite 2015 will definitely foot the bill. I think this is a quality program that is worth the money but again if you are looking for something you can just slide into and have something that will do all the work for you (though this program works with you a lot) then you may want to look elsewhere. The Chief Architect Company that produces this software does have a 30 day return guarantee if not satisfied but I am not sure if that guarantee would still apply to software downloaded through Amazon. You would have to check on that one.

Love, love this software

Love, love this software. Used a prior version many years ago, and didn't need anything like it for awhile. Now Im designing a new house, and thought it might be hard to learn again, and thought it would be more complicated that it used to be, If anything its simpler but has more capabillities. And the online tutoring is great too.
