Good for aching necks
I was hesitant to try this as it claimed much but seemed overpriced. I only wanted something like this for just normal sleeping with my often aching neck. I've used other neck pillows which all helped somewhat. So I purchased this one hoping for better results. Thankfully it did—not a total cure but the best results yet in the morning after a good night's sleep. With the pillow I received there is also a sticker to claim another free pillow for an honest review. I haven't seen that mentioned here before. Anyway that clinched my rating here, and I trust that's not a subtle persuasion to unduly inflate any other reviews here.

Real TRTL pillows and both newer design.
First of all, my main concern was receiving the old model (which is terrible) or receiving a “fake” trtl pillow. This is a pricey product for what it is, and an off-brand is a third of the price, but after reading numerous reviews I figured I would rather go with the real thing. My husband and I are traveling to China, so I wanted to get a good quality pillow for the long adventure, since the old school “donut” pillows are terribly uncomfortable. Initially when I received my package, I was instantly irritated to see that one package advertised the new model and one advertised the old model (received ripped open as you can see in the picture).... especially since I purchased two at the exact same time. But before I went crazy, I decided I better take a closer look. Luckily, both trtl pillows were the new model despite what was pictured on the package. I have not used them yet, but they seem to be comfortable enough (as comfortable as you can be while sleeping sitting up). HOWEVER: if you are not in a rush to get these pillows, I recommend you buy directly off of the trtl website. It’s the same price but shipping takes a little longer. The only reason I bought these off of Amazon was because I waited last minute to purchase these and I needed two day shipping (obviously not wanting to spend an extra $30 on it). So if you have time to spare, buy them directly from the source to ensure no “fake” or outdated models.

The BEST device for airplane sleeping.. Period.
This is by far the best travel neck support / sleeping aide available. On two 17 hour flights I slept for 8 hours straight while my neck and head was supported by the TRTL "pillow"... I have tried a lot of different methods for long flights but this was the very best I have seen or used. Nothing comes close. I did add a two small hard foam pads at the base of two of the support prongs since I am tall (6'3") and my neck is a bit longer than average. Simply attaching two 1 inch cube foam pads did the trick.

This or that? Trtl or the "other" brand?
I acutally really like this thing. Kudos to the inventors. I bought this Trtl brand in black and another brand for $10.00 cheaper and although the other one actually does work just fine there were some differences I wish I had known before buying. So if I may help anyone else in making this choice. Trtl will be B1 because its the black one in the pics and the other brand will be G2 because well you guessed it.....its's gray (looks more like brown in the photos). Pic# 1 I have put B1 (the original brand) next to the competitor G2 and you can clearly see that B1 has thicker padding however the fleece is just about as soft on one as the other so that is not a problem. I like the color of B1's velcro better (gray) than G2's greenish-yellow color not that it matters you won't see it when its on anyhow. In terms of working better however I like how easy G2's design pulls apart without feeling like your going to rip the Velcro off the stitching like you do on B1. (Sorry no pic with velcro colors.) Pic# 2 & 3 Here is where it really starts making sense in the price. In B1 the plastic piece is really solid and super easy to get out of the fabric to clean and wash it. G2 however has a horrible design and I almost ripped it trying to get the cheaper plastic out. The design here on G2 sucks. How do they expect us to clean it? B1 Wins hands down in this area. Not only is the plastic support piece built soooo much sturdier in B1 but it is 10Xs easier to get out of the fleece casing but with the tag being so easy to find in B1 washing really is so much easier in this choice. Pic #4, 5, & 6 In terms of a better deal? Well G2 is the winner here. The design works just about as good and you actually get a couple of extras to make your trip even better in terms of getting some shut eye. Summary: If you are wanting something a little more cushy or maybe you have a fat head? Sorry that wasn't nice but anyhow B1 Ttrl would definitely be the one for you however if you want something that works just about as good and don't mind fussing to get the plastic piece out of the fleece each time you wash it and saving some money while at it well then I would definitely give G2 a try for $19.99 especially if your someone who would actually use the eye cover and/or ear plugs which for you would make this a no brainer.

Love this thing
I travel a ton - multiple plane flights every week - but I'm a very minimal packer and a travel pillow never seemed worth it. When I ended up on a 9-hour red eye down to Rio, however, I figured I should find something to help get some rest and make the trip tolerable. After a lot of research, I opted for this "pillow". It's basically a soft fleece scarf with a brace to support your head. It took some shuffling to get it situated the first few times, but once I did it was super comfy and did a nice job of supporting my head so I could sleep. (For reference, I'm 5'9" with a fairly long neck and have no trouble with the height.) I never intended for this to become part of my regular travel routine, but when I left it behind on my next trip, I totally regretted it, and put it back in my bag as soon as I got home. Since then, it's been on dozens of flights with me. This is the little trick that ensures I show up at my destination well rested and pain-free. Yes, it can be awkward with headphones (although I make it work with my earbuds just fine). And, yes, the fleece can be a little warm (great on cold flights, less ideal on hot ones). And, no, it doesn't pack down completely flat (although it's way better than any other pillow I've seen). But those are minor drawbacks and it does a great job even with them. Is it perfect? No. But it's still amazing.

Great product, definitely works for us (5'3" and 6'2" people)
So, my family loves these things. Due to the price, I bought one to try out, which my husband took with him on a business trip soon after. He said he was unable to nap (because he can never sleep on planes, even when he flies to europe), but it was definitely more comfortable than being without some sort of support. We have a ton of various neck pillows (inflatable, brookstone beaded, brookstone foam-whatever) and he never takes them because they either take up too much room or takes too much effort (inflatable). In both of our opinions, this neck thing is no more or less comfortable than a neck pillow, so it is certainly a good substitute, especially if you never end up bringing the neck pillow with you. My mother was visiting and saw this pillow and thought it was a good idea, so I ordered one for her. On her flight back home her flight ended up getting delayed due to weather and then mechanical issues, so she (and the other passengers) ended up stuck in the airport overnight. She said that had it not been for this neck thing, she probably wouldn't have been able to sleep at all in the uncomfortable airport chairs. After their experiences, I finally got to try it out a few months later on a flight and I thought it was pretty comfortable. I was definitely able to nap and while I still had a slight crick in my neck, it was way better than not using a pillow at all and not much different than the foam pillows. I now use it in the car during road trips as well. For reference, my husband is 6'2", 250 lbs and I am 5'3" 150 lbs and we both found it comfortable enough.

Life-changing
I grew up intercontinentally & have spent so much of my life on planes, trains, & buses. I've never been able to comfortably or effectively sleep in transit in my adulthood without the help of a Xanax & a glass of wine. Spending $30 on a damn neck pillow seemed absolutely absurd, but the knockoff's shipping would take too long so I bit the bullet & made the investment. & the TRTL has changed everything. I boarded my transAtlantic flight, wrapped the TRTL around me, placed my headphones (awkwardly) over my ears, & woke up eight hours later landing in Stockholm. I couldn't believe it. Then I boarded a bus, trusty TRTL in tow, & knocked out AGAIN for another five hours! I wasn't even tired! I was just using it to relax & look out the window! I don't know if they soak the damn thing in chloroform but it works & I'm never traveling without the TRTL again.

(video test & demo) So far so good.

No more neck aches on the plane
I bought this over a year ago and used it on several long flights. As I like to sit on the aisle, it was the first time I slept comfortably on a plane without my head hanging out in the aisle. I also recently used it on an 8-hour bus ride and found it worked very well there, too. I like pulling the excess fabric up over my mouth so that people don't see it hanging open. The fabric is soft yet not overly warm so I don't get overheated. While on the bus trip, I passed the Trtl around as people were fascinated by it, and unfortunately, someone sat on it and broke the insides. I ordered a new one immediately as I don't want to be without it on my next vacation. I haven't used it riding in the car, but I imagine it would be great there, too. I highly recommend the Trtl!

I liked that it was relatively small/compact so it wasn't too ...
We read a ton of reviews on neck pillows before purchasing two of these for a trip to Europe where we needed to arrive bright eyed and bushy tailed. I liked that it was relatively small/compact so it wasn't too hard to carry on the plane and saved us from having one of the bulky traditional neck pillows attached to our luggage as we walked around. It was very soft and there is enough fabric that you can cover up part of your face if you like. The support is really nice, as is the ability to change the position. Even when your head is resting on this, it keeps you upright enough that you don't risk somewhat encroaching on your neighbor on the plane.
