Fascinating!
This is the second of five toys I bought on Amazon for my son's third birthday. I'm a writing a review because, frankly, I found this toy fascinating. I knew it was one of those -build-it-yourself kits, so I thought it would be good for son, who seems to like to build things. It turned out to be better than expected. All the gears assemble in such a way that when one starts turning, they all start turning, and there's quite a number of them to turn. You can make all sorts of configurations and the gears will just turn and turn and turn. I can't explain it, you have to see it. I highly recommend it for the young ones who like building blocks and that sort of stuff. Or maybe fathers who never grow up.

Encourages fine motor and general cognitive skills in a fun and creative way
These gears are a toy that my kids can spend hours playing with. They love to watch how they all connect depending on what they created - and then turning the handles adds to the fun. This is the second set I've purchased now and I would highly recommend them as a creative toy that helps boost cognitive reasoning skills and fine motor skills.

A hit at 2, still a hit at 4
I bought this back in November of 2017 for my son for Christmas. He was 2 at the time, and is almost 4 now. He loves them as much now as he did then. He has always loved watching how gears fit together and spin, so that is how he originally played with the toy. Now he builds robots, cars and trains all on his own. It is also fun for him to break the creation and fling the pieces around. The value for the amount of play is amazing, and everyone has had fun playing with it, from age 2 - 60. If you have a child that likes building with blocks or legos, this will be a hit.

Home run for multiple ages
My Drs office has a large, table version of this, and my son loved it whenever he had a chance to use it. I actually bought it for my younger daughter, almost three, for the STEM value, but with the small pieces, I hoped that they would play it together, so that one of us could supervise while she played (she doesn't put small pieces into her mouth, but one can't be too careful). Both kids just LOVED it immediately, out of the box. My older boy can still use some work with his fine motor skills, and he is a building toy/Lego freak, so this hits a few sweet spots for him. My toddler also loves to play with bigger Lego bricks (mega blocks and duplos), so she has a ball building with them - the gear size is prefect for her little hands, but they aren't so strong that they can pinch her fingers when they turn. She also loves the bright primary colors, and we have fun making patterns and shapes with them. Heck, I even find it fun to play with, myself! We have only had it a short time, but it is out multiple times a day, and I have plans to supplement this first kit with other kits as soon as I can. Even as a basic kit, there are plenty of pieces to play with, so it is fun on its own, but there are plenty of more complex kits to choose from. I can definitely see this being something that both kids will be interested in for a long time, especially as they become more creative in their building. Great toy!

Even mom had fun!
Bought these for our 3 years old who is always trying to assemble things. Fun for everyone! Only change would be to include 2 cranks instead of just one. Packaging was very basic, and would be nice to have a storage box, but the toys themselves are awesome!

Great activity toy
We recieved these fast with Amazon prime. My 2 1/2 yro daughter loves anything she can assemble/disassemble. The pieces are a little difficult to put together the first few time you play with the set. Keep that in mind if you have an inpatient kid or it's close to nap time so that you can avoid a melt down. Good quality considering it is plastic. Most of our toys in our house are made of wood.

Home run Toy
Bought 2 sets for my twin 2 yr olds and am so happy that I did. This set is in a rare category of toys that actually keep the little ones quiet and occupied for a time. They love being able to attach, take apart, build, and crank the gears. They struggled a little bit at first, but quickly got the hang of it. And now look forward to playing with these almost everyday, no exaggeration...and we bought these for Christmas! That's a win in my book

A good toy for my toddler
We bought this set for my son for Christmas. He was about 25 months at the time he received it. This is one of his favorite toys. Often it is just him playing with it but sometimes it is me, my wife or other kids that use it with him. All the gears and how the interact with each other really keeps him occupied. He wasn't very good at building structures at first. He started off just plugging the gears into the base pieces and making them all turn in sync. After a week he was creating long columns and adding gears to those.

Imagination Plus
Oh my goodness, when I bought this product I got it at a great deal. It wasn't in the original box but a plain brown box. (you could choose either but plain box was cheaper). I opened the box and put the gears in a plastic file folder container. JUST GREAT! My grandchild carries the box around to where he wants to play with it and puts it away nicely. THE GEARS are AWESOME. I don't know why I thought they just laid flat, but you can build them vertically or horizontally. You can make canals, towers, almost anything your mind can imagine and the gears work. Coolest and most inventive toy for kids' imagination. This scored BIG with my preschoolers age 3 - 6 and i'm sure above that age would love them too.

Great for home or preschool use
Great STEM toy for preschool and early elementary. Another reviewer claimed there were no instructions included with the frustration free packaging. We ordered our set with frustration free packaging as well, and we did have instructions in ours, but I found the set to be intuitive to use anyway. Pieces of the set came in a clear plastic bag within a tall and narrow non-descript cardboard box. I would not choose frustration-free packaging for gifting, but for personal or for school use, it made no difference. Multiple configurations. Fun to play with. My family was pleased with this set as is, and we are considering buying an expansion set.
