Phenomenal Controller for Shield Tablet
This is by far one of the best controllers that I have ever used on a mobile device. It is comfortable in the hand, and all of the buttons and keys work just like a console controller (mainly like xbox). There is key mapping software for the Shield Tablet that I use so that I can use this with emulators and other games that aren't built for this controller. Most games actually come pre-mapped for this and the default mapping is almost spot on. The movements in games are very smooth and the games are extremely responsive to each press. The battery life on this is great too! I had put in about 12 hours of gameplay before I had to charge this The bottom silver area doubles as a track pad and is a bit slow moving screen, but works. This is the controller to get if you are using the Shield Tablet.

Great controller if your willing to spend the money
Firstly let me start by stating the controller is a bit pricey, but IMHO its worth it. Functionality - The controller works very well for navigating the K1, but also with playing games on with gamestream or moonlight. I notice no lag and with every game I have tested thus far it maps seamlessly. I have also used this with my remote PS4, and it worked again with no issues what so ever, I was fairly impressed. The controller has several options that work in conjunction with your K1. For instance there are volume controls on the controller, as well as a flat silver plate at the bottom of the controller that acts as a mouse. If you decided to play a game from the play store you can map buttons from your controller to said game. As an example I downloaded slither.io and mapped my left joy stick and a button for speed. You do this by pressing and holding the start button which brings up the mapping options. Feel - The controller feels great in my hands, though I have large hands, it is a little large as for my son but he quikly got used to it, and the overall weight is enough to let you know your holding a controller but not so bad that after several hours of play it bothers you. Look - The controller has a sleek look, that speaks Nvidia. Life - Nvidia advertises 40 hours of continuous play. I cant speak to 40 hours but I can say that i have played it for 3 consecutive days without charge and the controller still said it was at full charge (4-8 hours each day).

This controller is amazing. it reminds me of a Xbox controller but ...
This controller is amazing. it reminds me of a Xbox controller but with the thumb sticks of a DualShock. It is a little bit on the heavy side but I like that. It is large enough where I can wrap my hands around it without them cramping like a DualShock. The touchpad is weird though. It is pretty small and not used for much. I would have also preferred actual buttons in place of the 4 buttons in the middle. The Touch ones are just too easy to accidentally bump.

Great for Console Mode
I bought this for my SHIELD portable for console mode (which, by the way, has improved GREATLY). If you have the tablet or use the portable in console mode this controller is an essential purchase. First of all it is designed for the SHIELD. You have to download the new HUB to get it to work. The controller has pretty decent tension on the thumb sticks, much better than the NYKO. You also get a touch pad of sorts so you can scroll mouse pointer which is great if you have ever tried to stream GTA4 or any UBISOFT game. It feels like the 360 controller, which isn't bad. You can also use it for the pc but only as a wired controller. The in the cloud gamepad mapper will get most games working. If you use console mode on your SHIELD buy this now!

Simply excellent.
This really is a great controller. That silver triangle in the middle at the bottom is a touchpad! While it's never something you WANT to use, when you need it it works surprisingly well for clicking that one little stupid pop-up (whatever it may be). I got this with the nVidia Shield Tablet. I still don't regret it. I put emulators on there so I could play all those games I grew up with. I even hooked it up to my TV. It was fantastic! Man, now I want to play Final Fantasy Tactics and River City Randsom again...

Great controller for the nvidia shield tablet k1
I bought a Nvidia Shield Tablet K1 to replace a badly aging Asus Nexus 7 2012 edition. The original model with only 1GB of ram and literally full of issues. While the Shield is a MUCH better tablet in literally every single way, this controller actually makes it even better. It adds more functionality to the tablet and even makes "console mode" an actual viable option. That is if you can find a few Android games that aren't absolute garbage! (Good luck with that one!) The battery life is good and the connectivity is perfect because it connects directly through the Shield without the need of a dongle. It's very reminiscent of the OG Xbox 360 remote too, but with a small mouse pad. It's nice.

every shield owner needs this
I was a little put off by the price of this gamepad, I thought it was kind of a rip off at first glance. I could NOT have been more wrong. setup was , NOTHING, i took it out of the box, hit the shield logo, and BAM i was moving the cursor. The ability to adjust the volume with a toggle is AWESOME. the touchpad while a little small is amazing, and i wish all gamepads had them. the response time is perfect, and the overall feel of the gamepad is amazing, its light enough to not feel heavy but heavy enough to not feel cheap, and the battery life is amazing. I recommend ALL shield owners get this. and for the record i have the shield portable, not the tablet to stream games across my network to my projector, which this makes a TON easier than the CRAP CRAP CRAPPY gamepads from nyko

Surprisingly good controller, packed with features to make gaming on a tablet easy.
Received my Nvidia Shield Wireless controller today via Amazon. Amazon shipped it very fast, which I appreciate. It came in a well packaged box with a Shield USB to Mini USB cable. Was a little disappointed not to receive another wall charger with it, but at least it came with the cable. I have been testing out the controller, it feels comfortable and weighs about the same as a PS3 controller. It synced up immediately to the Shield Tablet, super easy. The buttons and triggers feel good and the responsiveness is great. Was able to do very well in Super Hexagon due to the responsiveness and low latency. And if you know Super Hexagon, then you know how important a responsive and accurate input device can be. The controller also has home, back and play touch buttons at the top along with a Nvidia button that takes you straight into the Shield hub. The volume buttons under the joysticks are nice, but can be tricky to use at first and take practice, otherwise it jumps to mute. The headphone jack on the controller is a really nice touch, next to the micro USB port which is how you charge it. It also has a microphone which I haven't had a chance to try out yet. My only complaint is that the touchpad doesn't track well due to the low tracking sensitivity and small track area. Also the surface isn't slick enough to prevent the friction from slowing down my thumb creating inconsistent movements. Overall this is a very good controller, and beats trying to use a PS3/4 controller. The battery life seems to be very good, but I won't know for awhile and will update this review after testing further. If your debating a controller for the shield tablet, and plan to play games / emulators you should do yourself a favor and pickup this controller. It will make your gaming experience easier and more enjoyable. Well worth the investment.

Battery life is amazing (I've charged it full once
Bought to use with my Nvidia Shield Tablet and have no regrets. Battery life is amazing (I've charged it full once, and it hasn't dropped below 80% yet after ~10 hours of gaming). It's thick and solidly built (like an Xbox controller) but all the buttons actuate well, and feel good in your hands (i t might be a bit much if you have small hands). The wireless connection to the tablet is so fast I never notice any button lag, and the built-in Google and tablet control buttons make it so you almost never have to touch the screen itself if you don't want to. Shame these aren't more readily available, because it's a fantastic controller. I would recommend the ShapeWays UTORCASE mount for it, and it transforms it into basically a really sophisticated Gameboy. I will say it collects hand oils and dust quite easily (because of the material) so it needs a bit of regular cleaning.
