Works Great For The Surface Pro With A Portable External Hard Drive.
The Surface Pro only has one USB port, so you can only connect one USB device at a time. To me, it is imperative that this USB hub will be able to let me access the contents inside my portable external hard drive while at the same time, let me use the USB mouse and keyboard. I've previously purchased a different USB hub (model: HB-UMLS) from Sabrent before and it has been working quite adequately. The main reason I choose this rotatable hub is because it doesn't have the short cable between the male and female connectors unlike the majority of other USB hubs. After several tests, I’m happy to say that the hub was able to power all of the USB peripherals that I plugged into it. I was able to access the contents from both my flash drive and external hard drive all while using my two mice and one keyboard at the same time. They all worked flawlessly as expected. I’ve also test the data transfer speed between the internal and external USB hard drives. The transfer rate is fairly consistent and the connection is fairly solid during the transfer regardless if the Surface Pro is plugged in to a power source or not.

Overall GREAT! So useful!
This has been really useful for my laptop which only has ONE USB port. I can now plug all sorts of everything in AT ONCE. Transferring images from my camera and phone to my external hard drive was a juggle struggle before this handy device. It is convenient that it can rotate. There's a little blue light that lets you know it's on, but it's not very bright, annoying, or useful. I haven't had any issues with it not turning on or being active, but I suppose that if I was having issues, the blue light would be more useful then :] The only possible negatives I can see are: 1) The mechanism that keeps the rotation feature locked might get loose over time. I am rotating it VERY minimally to hopefully prevent this fate. 2) It makes a funny distribution of weight for my laptop and I worry that there is a lot of stress on my USB port. Because of this concern, I keep one of the cords sort of propped up on my laptop screen to prevent too much downward pull (thanks gravity!), and this will hopefully prevent any stress-damage to my one and only USB port.

Good product design; works with Windows 10; simple; compact.
Other than noting I am working on Windows 10, it would be hard for me to add anything not said in 1,100+ review already posted for the Sabrent 4-Port USB 2.0 Rotatable Hub. It connects, it rotates, and it recognized devices attached through it to my laptop. I did not have to install any drivers. There was no documentation shipped with the device and no documentation on the sabrent.com company website for this product, model HB-UMN4. That does not concern me given simple needs. I don't know how much power is conveyed through each of the 4 USB ports fanning out of one PC USB port. I would not expect to attach more than one power-hungry device (e.g. USB hard drive), but hoped to attach 2 or 3 simple devices like my USB trackball and USB numeric pad - - which worked easily and automatically. My real purpose for this USB mini-hub will be to add ports to a television which has but 1 USB port. I need at least two ports to support powering both one Chromecast and one Bluetooth transmitter. This should handle that neatly, cleanly, and out of site with its compact form factor and lack of needing cables.

Reliable - all ports work and it's mildly durable if you need to move it around a lot - just be gentle!
this is my 2nd one of these. The first one fell apart after a month but i do accept the blame on that. I am pretty gentle on my things but this particular item has to switch from computer to computer. It works very well if you're gentle with it. It's def worth the money and hasn't failed on any of my 16 USB ports on my desktop PC and is solid on my chromebook work computer. I can't really take any stars off for it falling apart because I was prob rough on it the day it cracked and I replaced it with the same item so, that tells me I trust it. Def not a sturdy product but for the money, you just can't beat it (please don't beat it, it will crack in a million pieces).

Compact & Unobtrusive, Works Great on Laptops, HTPCs, TV Boxes, and more
I have bought several of these, and we use them on our laptops, Home Theater PC/TV Boxes, and more. They're great for any device that you wish had more USB ports. I like that you can swivel the ports to any position. I also really like that this USB hub is unobtrusive, since it sits right up against your device's USB port that it is plugged into, and it doesn't take up any "desk" space. I especially did not want to have yet another box-type device sitting on top of my entertainment center, taking up lots of room there and collecting lots of dust. I also didn't want a USB port dangling from my laptop. IMPORTANT TIP: If you use one of these to connect USB hard drives to your device (as we do with our Home Theater PC/TV Boxes), be aware that your device will assign new USB port letters to the new USB ports that you have just added with this hub. Therefore, if you have previously designated a path for any media on a connected USB hard drive (using Kodi or other media player software), and then you plug that same hard drive into one of these new ports on this USB hub, then you will probably have to go back and change the path of your added media to the new USB port's letter so that Kodi (or other media center software that you might be using) will be able to find your media in its new location.

Nice rotatable USB Hub
I bought this because my laptop came with 3 USB ports and suddenly one stopped working. I use one for my trackball receiver, one for my headphones and one for my controller, so this left me in a jam. I did not want a hub that was connected by a USB cord that would be dangling from my computer, so this looked to be ideal as a way to get me the extra ports I was in need of. When I plugged it into my computer, it fit securely and the rotation was nice as you can position it to the left, right or straight up, or whatever angle you like. I prefer mine pointing towards the back of my computer. It has a little wiggle to it, but holds firmly and takes a good tug to pull out of the USB slot, so a bump or jostle will not knock it out of the slot. The slots in the hub are nice and snug to plug into, and also take a firm pull to dislodge your item. I am happy with my purchase and would recommend this for someone who wants a hub that does not need the length attached to having an extended cord. It does what it says it will do at a great price. It is only a 2.0 and not a 3.0, but that is sufficient for what I need. My computer ports are 3.0, but if I need to use my flash drives, I can just plug directly into the the two working ports. For just my headphones and game controller, this is sufficient.

Perfect dongle for those on the move!
I used this dongle on a daily basis. I have the Microsoft Surface Pro 2017 and we all know that a 2 in 1 or more like a 3 in 1 only has 1 usb port and one mini display port. After I plug this dongle on the side of my SP I am able to connect other usb devices to it like my external monitors. The only thing is that unless you're using the MS Surface Dock-which I have at home, the more devices you use to connect to the SP the faster the battery will drain on you. It's a fair trade-off as I only use this dongle when I'm traveling for business and I don't want to lug around my MS Surface Dock. The SD is just too big to carry around with you at all times bc it's got 4 usb port, an ethernet port and, 2 mini display ports. Currently I'm using the display port that I purchased from Best Buy that was intended for the MacBook Pro but it seems to work well with the Surface Pro and it doesn't take up that much space in my backpack. When I'm traveling I just use the dongle to connect to other monitors that uses USB cable. That way I can just bring my SP with me and this dongle and I'm all set but when I'm at home I plug the SP into my Surface Dock which is connected to my 2 external monitors, well, 3 if you count the SP display as a monitor.

Great for for adding discrete ports to a desktop, or taking to-go with a larger laptop.
It is well built for the cost and came in some decent packaging. Much better for desktop use than laptop, I have all my wireless peripherals plugged into it on the front panel of my PC, where it can't block any other ports. It adds 4 ports and 0 wires to my desktop, making it that much more sleek and manageable. Because it lacks a wire (which is why I bought it), the only cons are where it may and may not fit. Sizing: It wobbles a bit when plugged in and doesn't have a very 'solid' feel over all, but I think this is a fair trade-off for how narrow it is. When rotated vertically, there is enough space on the sides to plug another USB along side it. However it may be just a little bit too fat for modern slim laptops. When plugged into the side of a laptop, you will need a little over 1/4 inch of clearance beneath your USB port to keep the USB port form touching the surface. Overall I highly recommend it to anyone who needs more 2.0 ports and dislikes having too many wires.

Really versatile
I love the fact that I can turn it 180 or 360, so it fits next to other ports. I have a Magic Jack that hogs 2, and this totally handles the problem. I also like that there's no cord hanging out of the computer. Be advised, the ports on it are tight and, at first I thought I wouldn't be able to get even my little wireless mouse into it. But it just takes a little finagling. And I'm confident that nothing's going to just slip out of it. Just got it today, so can't attest to durability, but it seems like pretty sturdy plastic and, without additional the cables, it should do quite well.

A real workhorse and dependable.
A real workhorse and dependable. I use this for port on my work computer. That means I plug it in every day and use it all day long. I ordered it because my new computer only has two ports and I needed at least four ports. It always works, it’s very reliable, and I like the fact that once you have your devices plugged into it, it can be left standing straight up or tilted to the side.
