I got this with a adjustable bamboo drawer organizer for the other utensils. I placed this on one side of the drawer and then adjusted the organizer up against it. Depending on handle widths, this can fit a good number of knives. I have a dozen steak knives (admittedly crammed), a longer bread knife, and several small cheese knives in this. The trick with the cheese knives were that I leave some room on the bottom of this rack and the front of drawer. See those slots in the front of the block? If your drawer is deep enough, you can use those and let the knife handles rest on the drawer bottom! Perfect for the small cheese knives with 4inch handles.

I love these knife inserts. An ingenious design and they save lots of space. I am using 2 of them in my drawer and they look fabulous. See photo.

I bought this knife block because I had 6+ sharp knives (chefs, santoku, paring, etc) just lying in my kitchen drawer. Along with the knives, there's also thermometers, tongs, spatulas - you name it! It got to the point where I had so many knives that I had to be super cautious trying to get anything out of the drawer in fear of cutting myself. This block solved those problems! Also, let me mention how much more sanitary this is as opposed to a countertop knife block (that you drop your knives into, point down). The Bellemain flat knife block is so much more sanitary. Those huge ugly things that sit on your countertop are impossible to clean the inside of and dont allow your knives to breath. Should any nasty residue still be on your knives after cleaning, a typically countertop knife block is just going to trap and keep whatever germs/bacteria your knife had. Again, this laying knife block fixes those problems! It fit in my drawer perfectly and holds all of my knives securely and cleanly. I will probably end up getting another one for steak knives and the like. I highly recommend this knife block!

Point 1: The slits are too small to fit the tang of our Mundial santoku (it was a wedding gift from my brother). The grip guard is about 2 mm wider than the blade and made it impossible rest properly, making the knife wobble like crazy. Point 2: Like any slightly insane husband, I decided to take a drill to the holder rather than send it back. The wood splintered a little (it's bamboo), but overall it held. Now the knife sits perfectly! Point 3: The remainder of our collection, mostly Wusthof, fits just fine. So: 5 stars for doing it's job, minus 1 for not fitting an obscure knife, plus 1/2 for fitting the rest, and plus 1/2 for holding up under pressure. :)

Maybe it's an old work habit ... but each month I still do a continuous improvement project for our home. This month I took my kitchen knives that were in boxes and in a tray and organized then with my new drawer knife block. Excellent! I like how the smaller knives fit in the top 'shelf' and -- most important -- all the knife blades are safely in the down position. That's ten knives in a fairly small space. Amazon, that you for making this product available!

There's a reason this drawer insert has a 5-star overall review. It has been great. We used it in a home we bought as a guest house, which has standard-sized drawers. This requires a little more than half the drawer width and about 4/5ths of the drawer length, and when loaded up, still fit the drawer height perfectly. It has been a great way to get the knives off the countertop and neatly organized. I considered one of the magnetic wall-mounted knife racks, but this held more knives than those I was looking at and is more suitable for guest-house use. Most of the knives in the house aren't longer than 8" and fit perfectly; however, large chef's knives 10" + or those with large bolstered handles may not fit in this as readily. For me, it holds my collection of Victorinox knives perfectly - and if you aren't familiar with Victorinox Fibrox knives, I suggest you check them out; for the price, they are a superior value.

For the past two years I have been searching for the perfect in-drawer knife holder. Every time I was in a city with a Container Store I looked at knife storage. Because the drawer I store my knives in is not very wide I was limited not to mention I wanted one that would store all my knives! I found this one and the reviews were great. I had just purchased another Bellemain product that I was happy with, so I decided to give this company and this product a try. It fits in the drawer perfectly, it holds all my knives and there is one empty slot (gosh that must mean I need to purchase another knife). The knives are easy to remove and insert easily into their individual slots. I have not noticed any dulling, but I am good about sharpening my knives regularly. Definitely would purchase this product again.

We purchased 2 blocks and they fit with room to spare. I would recommend this product. I have the chicago cutlery set and the biggest knife measures at 3" high when in the block. I can still close the drawer with that knife in its place.

My utensil drawer was an absolute mess. When I began looking for a way to organize it I wasn't even aware that horizontal knife blocks existed. I was really attracted to this knife block because of the aesthetics, practicality, and price. I was able to fit 11 knifes into the block. My Chef's knife and bread knife fit easily into it. Everyone who sees it wants one. I highly recommend this knife block because of its beautiful appearance, price, and utility. I love pretty things. This is a pretty AND USEFUL thing.

Minimal footprint, ideal for smaller kitchens with little counter space. We moved into a lovely new home last year, and while the kitchen was comfortably large, it lacked cabinet and counter space. I'd had traditional knife blocks in the past, but just didn't have a good space here, and the in-drawer solution was ideal for most of my knives. Sturdy, attractive, and with enough types of slots to accommodate most prep, paring, steak knives, etc. (no cleavers, but come on!), this was an ideal solution for us. There is some scalability to fit within drawers or to allow items on the side such as honing/sharpening tools, tongs, etc. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a reasonably priced, attractive and practical solution to protecting and storing knives.
