I love my new steamer. It is set automatic on 20 minutes, so for some vegetables I back it off to 15 minutes. I also unplug it when I am done. It washes easily by removing the bowl and the black under tray that is filled with collection from the steam. Then wash and use the black tray to refill the water.

I finally wore out the one I bought 7+ years ago. I used it a lot and it served me well so when it was time to replace it, this newer model of my old faithful steamer seemed like a natural choice. The features and capacities are practically identical. This new one is noticeably slower to go from a cold start to full-on steam, but not so slow that it's a big deal. I did have to grin at the new feature that lets you add water on the fly while steaming. It's a tiny pull out tray/drawer. Did I say tiny? I think you could get a little water in through it if you used a turkey baster, but if you tried something like a measuring cup it would all go onto the counter. That's OK, the old model didn't have anything like it at all. It sounds like I'm complaining but after living with one of these for years I can't imagine not having an electric countertop steamer. I've got plenty of other kitchen toys but this is right up there with the Almighty Microwave, well ahead of the slow cooker, deep fryer, dry fryer, blender, even (dare I say it?!) the critically important convection toaster oven. I'm looking forward to another 7+ years of steamy bliss.

First of all, let me explain that I use a steamer several times each week. I regularly steam veggies and rice, and always use it to hard boil eggs. I also use it occasionally for chicken, fish, and my grandkids very favorite food, hotdogs. So, as you can imagine, I was really disappointed when my old steamer finally died. It had been going strong for almost ten years, and now I was stuck with the task of trying to find something else that would work equally well. I did tons of research before finally settling on this model. It was a good decision. This steamer is all digital, whereas my old one just had a dial. It has a delay start timer that I can set for anywhere from 30 minutes to 24 hours away. The maximum steam time is 1 hour, but I’ve just added water and reset the time when I’m steaming tamales, which take up to two hours. When the set time is done the unit will switch to “warm” mode for up to an hour. If I’m not watching closely and the water level gets too low then the unit will beep and display “Lo”. Adding water is simple – just pull out the water drawer and fill. There’s a viewing window so I can always see where the water level is at. The two steaming bowls stack if you want to steam several things at once, or you can remove one of the bowls and just steam singly. The rice bowl will steam a cup of rice at a time. I have packed both steam bowls on occasion, and haven’t had any problems with everything cooking at the same rate. A really nice feature is that I can stack both bowls but remove the bottom from the upper bowl. This gives me twice the vertical space so I can steam corn on the cob or tamales in the upright position. I’m really loving this steamer so far, and hoping to get a lot of years of use out of it. I’ll update this review if I run into any problems.

After 15 years my old steamer was done. This is a nice upgrade with some clever features, like removable bottoms in the trays allowing you to steam reallly tall items (like corn cobs upright). The old one still worked fine, but the trays eventually cracked (dishwasher...they'd likely have lasted forever with hand washing), and the stainless casing on this one matches our kitchen better. We use it mostly for steaming rice...we also have a fairly expensive zojirushi (cost 3X what this steamer did) rice cooker, but the HB steamer cooks in about half the time. the zojirushi shines at keeping cooked rice hot and edible for very long amounts of time, but we don't do that so it has been pretty much supplanted by the HB steamer.

This food steamer is outstanding! I never used one before and read the reviews before purchasing. I steamed vegetables; small potatoes, baby carrots, string beans and broccoli. I couldn't believe the flavors! The carrots taste was intensely....carrots! Each veg tasted amazing! The next night I tried sword fish. Needless to say the sword was outstanding in flavor and was so tender. It's like the steam is cooking the food while at the same time infusing the flavors right back into themselves. The beauty of it all is that it has two tiers so you can cook two different types of food at the same time such as vegs and chicken. I will definitely be steaming all my food going forward. This is a must have in every kitchen!

I bought this to replace an older model that finally quit working. The dual baskets work well. In the old steamer, we used to have to add those ingredients that required less cooking time later. With this unit we just put those ingredients in the upper basket where the food doesn't cook quite as fast. The steamer also has a delay timer that comes in handy when you want to get everything ready but need to delay cooking for 30 minutes or more. Because the bottoms of each basket are removable, the steamer can be used as a single basket steamer if desired as well.

First of all, I loved the size of the item right away. From the pictures, it seems so much bigger but in reality , it is just the perfect size to stow it nicely in the kitchen cabinet. Easy to clean: just fill the sink with dish soap and water and you are good to go. So far, this has been a successful purchase and it is so nice to have food ready within 20-25 minutes. I love my steamer!! Being vegan I use it so often for broccoli, green beans , sweet potatoes , artichokes , and much much more....this has been such a blessing as initially i was a bit hesitant about purchasing one . Im glad i went ahead and bought it. Very very happy here. If things change or break or leak, I will update this review. Happy cooking!! :)

It is so easy to use! And filling the water reservoir is so easy with the water door. It works great! Made 14 hard boiled eggs using both baskets timed it for 40 minutes & they turned out perfect & so easy to peel! Peeled white pot. cut in half & stacked them by taking out bottom of 2 nd basket & steamed for 60 minutes. Turner out great! You do have to mash them while are not to turn out right! Really like this machine! Highly recommend it!

Have been looking for a steamer for sometime as have had this for a few months and really enjoy the benefits nutrition wise of steamed foods. Cleaning is not too bad if you let is soak in soapy water for a few your cleaning will be easier. I need to try steaming rice on top and rest of food at the bottom compartments so that seasonings won't get into my rice, just a thought. Maybe finding a good steamer recipe book would do as well. Haven't tried eggs in it but fish is great. Alll in all I do enjoy the steamer and glad I purchased it here on Amazon.

Got this 2 yrs ago, its still going strong. I love it, we steam veggies and make rice, and cook hotdogs in it. If your careful it will last a long time. I wash it and dry it right away after dinner. So far in 2 yrs no clouding. I love it!
