I bought this for my daughter's cat who loves watching squirrels and birds out the window. The cat is quite intrigued by the fish swimming around. In the attached picture, the cat had been watching the fish for several minutes. It's Cat TV at its finest! Yes, the aquarium is a bit on the small side, but it is built well and looks awesome. Just remember, to help those little fishies swim, you need to add 2 drops of dishwashing liquid to the water.

What a delight to watch these colorful fish swirl and swim thru the tank in ever changing ways never t O repeat a pattern. I got this item for my Grandchildren, but on second thought think I will keep it for myself. I will share it with them when they visit but at this point keep it in my room full of my treasures. The aquarium comes with a light cord but it is also battery operated so it can be placed anywhere. I thought of taking it to a restaurant to share with friends as a colorful centerpiece but declined at the last minute as they might think me a little strange. However, in place it in my room from place to place where I can best observe the delightful antics of newfound friends. My wife has taken a like to them and named all. This makes a smart birthday or Christmas present to loved ones. I found that reversing the background photo to a white background gives the desired effect of reflected colors which come from the lights. I, of course, would and have, recommended it to those with playful minds. One thing I found: use only one drop of soap as too much will cloud the water. I used too much, but upon a refill, using no soap, now have crystal clear view of my new found friends.

I recently bought this for my daughter. She really loves this. It is of a great quality. The fish look so real and the dancing colors inside add to the beauty. This is a great product for anyone who wants an aquarium without having to look after a real fish. A great gift idea too.

I bought this for my 17 yr old cat who is sick and can no longer get up in the window to bird watch, it is perfect for him to sit on the bed. Very lifelike fish. Thanks for making his days a little brighter.

Wanted something fun and somewhat entertaining on my desk at work. This did the trick! Everyone around the office love it and it's a great conversation starter for people walking by my desk. It's very quiet when turned on. Tad on the small size so if you're worried about the size I'd go with the bigger version. Would buy again if need a fun gift for someone in the office or a kid who what's a fake aquarium.

Perfect solution for our 3yo! We were trying to phase out a "fish tank soother" that hung on the side of her old crib. My hubby was going to punch that "soother" if he heard it singing in the middle of the night one more time or if he had to buy anymore C batteries. So, we were able to tell her this Lightahead fish tank was her new "big girl" fish tank. We got the mini and it's such a cute size--not too big, not too small. It couldn't have gone over better! She had so much fun helping to set it up. We used tap water and a couple drops of dish soap. It comes with two orange clown fish and a blue fish--instantly they were Nemo, Marlin and Dory from Finding Nemo to her, which was an unexpected added bonus! It makes for a great night light that she can still look at her books by. We love that it is silent! If you listen carefully, sometimes you can hear the fish tap the "glass," which doesn't bother us or her. She loves to watch it during the day and it doesn't seem to keep her up at all at night. We love that it plugs in (no batteries needed). It's been running 24/7 for weeks and all the fish are still swimming great. The motor does a great job creating a current. The fish use the whole tank and turn around and bump each other; it's dynamic and interesting. At first we were worried we got a dud fish; he was kinda just hanging out in an upper corner. Within 20 mins, he finally got caught up in the current and acts just like the others. There aren't any visible bubbles in ours. No biggie. No leaks. The hole for the water and fish is rather small and has a nice stopper. I think it would take a lot of shaking to cause a spill or leak. Our kiddo understood pretty quickly that it was not for holding. Highly recommend. It really is the cutest little thing...and we all get more sleep!

I thought this little aquarium would be a cute way to jazz up my otherwise boring office and I was right. I didn't want real fish because I didn't want to be responsible for cleaning the tank and frankly, because I've always thought really small fish tanks (a gallon or less) were hard to keep and not really a healthy environment for fish. However my little plastic fish seem to enjoy their little world as they swim about. This little office doodad gets lots of attention and it's a great conversation starter. The fish swim around using the motion of the motor-blown water. It's incredibly silent and the only sounds I ever hear is the occasional 'clink' of one of the plastic fish as it bangs against the side of the tank. However, it's not very loud and you probably won't notice it in an average office environment or bedroom. The fish are moderately detailed and their tails are hinged to simulate swimming, though I've never actually seem the tails move. The 3 LED lights and the decorative backsplash are nice touches that make the aquarium seem more realistic. One thing to note is that the listed dimensions are wrong. The correct dimensions are 7L by 4H by 2.5D, which is considerably smaller than the description states. I have no idea why they exaggerate as the product is nice and should sell on its own merits. I want to emphasize that this is not your average cheap Chinese-made toy. The plastic is thick, the edges are smooth and the motor runs very quietly. I bought two of them and both were excellently made; right down to the three included fish. Try to resist the temptation of setting up this aquarium without reading the directions or you'll find yourself cursing like a wounded pirate because the aquarium doesn't work (I'm speaking from first-hand experience here). If you set it up correctly per the directions, you'll soon be enjoying this awesome little 'toy.' You may even find yourself naming your fish like I did. LOL. These make great gifts and I highly recommend to anyone who wishes to jazz up their office or cubicle.

This product was smaller than I expected, but that's on me for not paying attention to the dimensions when I ordered it. It's still a nice toy, and my 2 year old son loves it. We had been talking about getting him a real fish tank because of how excited he gets when he sees live fish, but ugh, the maintenance. He's not old enough to clean an aquarium yet, and I knew that despite what his dad claimed, that task would fall on my shoulders more often than not. 😊 My toddler doesn't seem to notice the difference between this and a live aquarium, and it doubles as a soothing night light. The instructions recommend using distilled water, and of course I totally ignored that. The first time I filled this up I did it directly from our filtered tap, but the oxygenation bubbles (at least I believe that was the problem) kept the fish from swimming. Or maybe they were just feeling lazy, but either way they just congregated in an upper corner of the tank. So i dumped the water out with the intention of buying some distilled water to try again. After returning home the next day from the store sans distilled water because I forgot, I spotted an old bottle of spring water that has been on the counter for who knows how long. I dumped it into the tank to give it a shot, and noticed all the oxygen bubbles that were present after filling the tank from the tap weren't there. It wasn't enough to fill the tank completely, so i put more filtered water in the bottle and let it sit for an hour or so, then filled the rest of the tank. I let it sit for a while and then followed the directions to get the fish swimming again, and voila! Magic. As soon as my son saw the fish in action, his face lit up and he got really excited. A great buy for anyone who is looking for the soothing effect of a fish tank without any of the feeding, cleaning, maintenance and dead fish that accompany a real one. This product does come in different sizes, so check the specs before ordering, and if you are having trouble getting it to work, follow the directions, use distilled water, or try letting the water sit until you don't see any tiny bubbles clinging to the sides before adding fish detergent and fish.

So. I work for a large company... My manager and i have a wonderful relationship. Facebook friends, best buds, what have you. One day i stood up and leaned over the cubical and said, "I want to get a fish for my desk" He looked at me, smiled, and took a breath, "Jeremy, you're not getting a fish. Not on my team." Me, being the smart mouth i know i am, "Well what about an emotional support fish? What if that's my security?!" He pauses, the fire glowing in his eyes as more and more employees tune in to our conversation, vultures to a sickly antelope. "Not on my team, not ever. But if you get a doctors note, and HR will approve it, ill let you." Flash forward 2 days and you see me, an intellectual. A man who is not about to go and spend money to get a note for a fish. Then behold. A childhood memory. A fleeting thought that had surfaced on the oceans of my mind. I find this. The "Lightahead Artificial Mini Aquarium Fish Tank." A week later my package arrives. $20 for a small artificial fish tank. It was Monday, my day off. I walked into work, a calmness surrounded me unlike the buzz of the floor. I approached him, my friend. My Manager. My opponent against fish. I stuck out my hand as if to congratulate him. A look of puzzlement across his brow. "I would just like to say thank you, for not only being my manager, but also for helping me." He responded a bit concerned, "Sure thing man, but with what?" "Allowing me to reach a new level of petty." I set the tank, filled to the brim atop his cubical wall and watched the anger of that instant turn to pure delight. I had bested him, for no note was needed for a fake fish. "Jerbear....dude.... you win this one" He spoke broken between haltered laughter. To this day, although i have moved up in the company and we are no longer on the same team, he still walks by my new desk to view the glory. The level of petty and cleverness, that he has not yet achieved.
