I cut my cord with my old trimmer and it scared me. Tired of pre-mix 2 stroke motors with the smell, noise, and different mix ratios. So I Bought this with some trepidation. All I can say after using this twice is wow, it is really amazing. Have used it for an hour at a time and my body wore out before the battery. It cuts really well and has low noise. Did not even use my ear muffs. I got rid of a large amount of blackberry bushes that were over 10 feet tall. Used to take me several days with my wheeled string trimmer. This took me 2 hours. Was going to buy the Black and Decker, for about half this amount, but got scared when i read about the build quality. I just ordered the Ego chainsaw and leaf blower, without the battery packs, since since this battery pack is interchangeable. The battery also charges very quickly. Unfortunately, my body does not recharge as fast. This is one of the few products that I have gotten really excited about. The battery technology has reached a point where they can compete with the other sources of power and offer a lot of convenience. If you are on the edge about purchasing this product, don't be, it is that good.

Grabbed a bunch of ego products last year and finally pulled the trigger on the hedge trimmer. Great tool without having to deal with cords all the time. Its a tad heavy but its built very well. Cuts through branches better than my corded model did which was a pretty cheap version. The battery that came with my mower works very well on this unit along with the blower. The nice thing about the tools is how the batteries all work to fit your needs. You only really need 2 batteries if you have a bunch of items from EGO. Highly recommend these tools, I won't go back to plugs nor gas powered equipment for my home needs.

Man oh man do I love the EGO power tools...just got this for my birthday and that gives me an Hedge Trimmer, String Trimmer, Lawn Mower, and Blower...they are all great and if you get three batteries (the lawn mower battery is pretty good size 4.0amp... so that plus two of the 2.5 amps are great for me to swap out and get all the grass mowed, edged, and blown). Ego products are quality built, they have a great web site with all the info you need on the device and even a great registration page - I have nothing to give but praise for EGO for their tools - all well thought out with many "features" you'll appreciate when using them. MUCH MUCH better than the B&D brand, which is cheaper, but clearly - cheaper. AND I LOVE B&D for their drivers and drills, just not garden tools (and I've had their mowers and weed eaters for years). Oh yes, power - these tools are every bit as powerful as GAS models and while I'm sure we have some HANK HILL types that will disagree and love GAS...these tools will do anything as good if not better, weigh less, and are exceedingly quiet in the process. Lithium Cordless tools have finally made cordless worth while - kudos.

Works as advertised. I tested on all types of hedges, plants and small trees including a 3/4 inch branch which it cut easily. Battery was more than adequate for a 1/3 acre property. Never lost power. Highly recommend.

This is a very powerful trimmer on battery so no need to mess with motor! I used it several time on the hunting lease and it worked really well for what I needed it for, which is to trim down the brush around my feeder and blind. It cut through thick brush like nothing! Very impressed! The batter pack is great switching between my Ego weed-eater and 14" chain saw.

I had several hedge trimmers but they required dragging extension cords around as you worked on the hedges. I tried a trimmer with an 18V NiCad battery but it proved to be weak and ran out of power before I could finish trimming. So after many years of dragging around an extension cord, I decided to try this trimmer with the 56V L-Ion battery. It cut through the branches of my Podocarpus hedge without hesitation and ran without stopping after trimming all my other hedges. The unit is heavier because of the battery but since you need to use both hands to activate the switches this is not a problem.

My husband bought me this hedge-trimmer because my old Black and Decker batteries lost charge after 2 minutes. Ohh my, this hedge trimmer is the best mothers day gift ever :) I can finally cut my hedges in Mickey mouse shape or make them look like the Easter bunny. It doesn't come with battery though, bummer, but makes sense for that price. The EGO batteries are fantastic - charge very fast and last pretty long. The machine itself is not too heavy for a 130 lbs gal like me. It's a great workout.

This is the second EGO product I have purchased! That say a lot as I have NO product loyalty. That may have changed when it comes to my lawn and yard. No, I did not have to buy the hedge trimmer and get a second charger or second battery. The one with the string trimmer will work for both units and has the charge capacity to cover my yard for edging and the weekly touch up of hedge trimming as needed. As I already had an EGO string trimmer (a great product) my battery was already charged and ready to go. My hedges including an overgrown Holly were standing by and waiting for me. They got that way as I was tired of the hand clippers and trimmers as they take so long and always produce an uneven cut as you move along any length of hedge trying to get it right. With the 24 inch cut it is easy to move along and get a smooth level cut across any hedge and the jaws handle branches up to 3/4 inch. That may slow the trimmer down, but it does not stop it. The old 1 hour job was complete in less than 15 minutes even with the overgrown status. Make sure you do lubricate the blades prior to use. This is a great tool and I expect it is not my last EGO product.

eGo tools are fantastic. I have the bush trimmer, leaf blower, string trimmer, and a 10" chainsaw that goes on the powerbase to trim tree branches. They are lightweight and I'm done the job before a two-stroke would have even started running. More powerful than any two stroke I've owned. Just avoid the bush trimmer that uses the power base. It's about 8' long and I threw out my shoulder, sent it back after using for 10 minutes, but 5 weeks later still nursing the danged shoulder. Here's what I'd have liked to know: You can get a power base that is interchangeable with several tools. However, it works best with the 10" chainsaw only. It's far too long for the other tools so it's best to just get those as a standalone tool. One battery fits all. I keep the battery inside and the tools in a dry shed, with caps on open ends to avoid any damage.

I purchased this after purchasing the EGO string trimmer & the power blower. This thing is an animal on hedge branches! I was going through 1/2 "size branches & barely slowed it down. After about 20 minutes of trimming getting it all done, it still had plenty of power & that's with the 2 AH battery.
