Best decision I made in a long time
Best decision I made in a long time. I used to worry about my delivery at my front door. Not anymore. I get an alert and see exactly what they did. Where they left it. And if anyone come behind I can also tell if any foul play. Great camera. Easy to setup.

Hands down the BEST bang for your buck!!!!!
I have an 8 camera HD security system and the biggest advantage of the Canary is the motion detection and live alerting system! The camera video and footage is amazing, plus to hear audio and check temperature, humidity and air quality only add to the many advantages canary offer, the the larger security camera companies. Canary also offers an audible alarm system and emergency calling features which only hit the nail on the coffin and the best security device on the market today. I own 2 Canaries and have had them for almost a year and have never had any problems, all it's given me is peace of mind and a secure feeling that my family and loved ones are being watched. I have recxomended this product to litterlly 20-30 people and most have purchased one without regret, I would highly recommend this product!!

Provides safety for your home in one succinct package
Home automation and security are big in my home. I started installing systems with Dropcam and Philips Hue and now, I have cameras and connected devices running all around the house. Each time I get an opportunity to try a new device, I think, “What will this one do better then what I currently have?” I also wonder, “What makes this device worth the valuable power strip space that’s filling up in my home. Canary is a complete security system inside a single device. First and foremost, Canary is a video camera. It provides real-time 1080p HD video that you stream to your mobile device. You are always connected to your home and you can view recorded video and audio for up to 30 days with Canary’s cloud storage. Second, Canary is a motion sensor. It detects motion and records video of the area and sends a notification to your phone so you can determine if there really is a break-in or if it’s just the dog meandering through the room. Canary automatically detects when you leave your home, too. And, when you leave, Canary sets the system to ‘armed,’ which will send you motion notifications. If the system is not armed, Canary will still record video upon motion detection, but it won’t send you a notification. Canary wards off intruders with a 90+ decibel siren that you are able to control remotely. Let’s say you are out at dinner and you receive a motion notification and pull up your video feed. Because it’s HD video, you can easily tell that the person walking through the room is not a family member. So, you can sound the alarm from your phone. The siren scares the intruder because they think they tripped an alarm system and they leave the premises. It’s very loud and very effective. Another nice feature that goes hand in hand with the siren is the emergency call feature. You have the option to set up emergency phone numbers in the preferences of the app and when you see that there is someone who has broken into your home, you can tap that button and immediately be connected with police, fire, or any other service you want to alert. In addition to the security features, Canary has home health technology integrated. It’s a air quality sensor, thermometer, and humidity sensor all wrapped up in one package. INSTALLATION In this particular case, “installation” is sort of a misnomer. You see, with Canary, there is no installation. You simply pull the unit out of the box, download the app, and your device is connected to your network within about 3 minutes. When we first set Canary up, I was in awe of how simple they made it for people to use this device. We have many devices that have taken hours to set-up so it was refreshing to have a device ready to work out of the box without any poking and prodding from you. So, the device itself is easy to get set-up, but what about the app? Well, the app, too, has a high level of ease of use. After you’ve created an account and connected your camera, you are met with a screen that shows all the people in your home that are connected to the Canary. From here, you can watch your video feed live, or you can use the menu to modify your settings – like how sensitive you want your motion sensor to be. You can also choose to review the timeline, which shows all the events recorded from the sensor being tripped. TESTING With a camera like this, the best way to test it is to set it up and let it do its thing. We picked a good spot for it to live (on top of an old organ) where it had a birds-eye view of our front entryway. This corridor of our home is also a main thoroughfare for all of us – including the dog. We are very fortunate to live in a quiet neighborhood and the only activity we ended up with were the occupants of the house and our guests. The dog walking through the room – he’s an 85 pound boxer – was quite enough to trip the motion sensor and trigger a recording. While we do have the option to turn down the sensitivity of the motion sensor, we decided to leave it as is because we didn’t want to chance it being ‘tricked’ by someone who could sneak into the house under the radar. The camera did a fabulous job of recording, clear, crisp HD video that was easily viewable from our phones. We tried accessing footage both on WiFi and LTE and found we could connect easily in any way we tried. Another remarkable featuMy fiancé connected one day while she was at work because she received a motion notification and she said she could hear the conversation my grandmother and I were having in the living room that is located in the opposite side of the house. It’s quite a remarkable device. The siren is very, very loud. In fact, I would compare it to a storm siren and honestly, I would love to see Canary do some sort of tie-in with a weather service to turn the security siren into a weather-capable alert. It seems as though the technology is there and I could see it being a great add-on. CONCLUSION Canary is a very easy to use, capable security camera. It’s been my favorite to work with so far because it’s so easy. You can set it and forget it. Not too long ago, ABC News featured a story about a family that had a Canary in their home and with it, they were able to dissuade three burglars from remaining in their home and the family ended up not losing any valuables from the break-in. This is peace of mind Canary will bring you. It’s not intrusive in your home’s environment and it provides safety for your home and family. Works exactly as advertised
I am not giving the Canary five stars for being the best home security system on the planet. I'm giving it five stars because it does exactly what it says it's supposed to do in the product description. This is a motion-activated video recording device, that also allows you to manually activate a siren if you receive an alert and witness nefarious activity in real time. It does not automatically sound when motion is detected (critical for me, as I have a cat), and it does not automatically call the police when motion is detected (critical for everyone, since the vast majority of police notifications from home security devices are false alarms). It doesn't claim to do these things, so I find reviews here that criticize it for not doing these things odd. I guess some people fail to read the entire product description before hitting one-click. I bought the Canary because I was moving from a suburban neighborhood (where you can leave your car unlocked in the driveway with keys in the ignition, no worries) back to "THE CITY." The likelihood of my apartment being burglarized is, I think, fairly slight... I'm on the second floor of a triple-decker, with locks and deadbolts on the exterior doors to the stairways and locks and deadbolts on my apartment doors, two downstairs neighbors who are home much of the day, and I'm directly across the street from a middle school where there's constant activity. But still, I wanted some peace of mind, and so far the Canary is giving it to me. The unit takes about five minutes to set up, link to your wifi and synch to the app on your mobile device. The first few days I was getting a lot of alerts triggered by my cat. Fortunately, there is a sensitivity slider on the app that allows you to alter the number of alerts you get based on the amount of motion detected, so I'm having fewer of these show up on my phone now. I've tested it by taking it out of privacy mode when I'm home, and walking into the living room from either the front parlor or the kitchen, and it alerts me in these conditions. I do still get an occasional false alarm from a window blind flapping in the breeze or some such, but it's not annoying at all. One of the best features is the auto switching between modes. I leave the house, Canary detects that my phone is out of range, and it flips to "Away" mode. One less thing for me to think about as I am scrambling out the door, late as usual. I see some people complain that you can't save a backlog of many days' worth of videos without paying for an upgraded plan from Canary. I guess if you are using this thing to record birthday parties or naked romps on the couch or whatever you want to preserve for your own amusement, that might be a feature that you would need. The only video I would want to save would be the one of the guy ripping off my stuff, and the whole point is that I should be seeing that in real time if I'm keeping my phone with me at all times. So for me, the free subscription works out just fine. I have had no issues with losing connectivity that I am aware of. It's been connected constantly for over a month without any loss of service as far as I can tell. If I could ask for one feature, it would be a way to set up a dedicated alert tone just for the Canary. It think the tone to alert you to a possible home invasion should be something different than the tone for an incoming text message... something louder, more obnoxious. I don't know if that's something Canary could upgrade through the Android app, but it would be much appreciated. I'm willing to let text message and email alerts wait, but now I can't, because every time I hear them I think, "That COULD be a burglar!" But overall I am well pleased with this product.

Small Price to Pay for the Sense of Security
Been very happy with our Canary System. We have a total of four devices, 2 indoors and 2 outdoors. They have been working great. No complaints. I realize it is our responsibility to sound a siren or call police when we see an intrusion, but we feel secure being away from home knowing we can always check to see what is going on, plus if anyone approaches our home or attempts entry we know about it right away. We did not have to have anyone install the system and found installation very easy. Canary also has a very good support system. I have had almost immediate answers for every question I had. I also like the fact that the devices are not hardwired into our home. If we decide to relocate, we are able to take them with us.

I love my Canary. Best overall value for Home Monitoring.
The Canary All-In-One is the absolute best camera for the price and my home monitoring needs. The design, quality and overall product offering is far superior than competitors. The field of view is great, with great picture quality and night vision. Most importantly, the camera is ubiquitous and blends nicely into my home decor (unlike my Arlo Pro). I especially like the environmental monitoring feature. The setup took less than 5 minutes (easiest amongst my Arlo and Ring) and the app is easy to to use. I’ve read a lot of negative reviews about the video plan, but when comparing prices of other cameras and their offering - the Canary was the best overall value. If I were an early customer I certainly would have been frustrated, but as a new customer I am very happy with the value.

Taking Cat Lady to Level 100
I’ve been using my Canary Flex for about four weeks now. As others have mentioned, each consumer should do their own due diligence in terms of the home security device that is right for them. Here’s my experience. From a security standpoint, material possessions mean little to me. In the last ten years, I have been burglarized twice (during both instances I was living in New York City, and I have long since moved away). I’ve had all of my belongings stolen and in both cases had an idea of who the perp might be, but no evidence to back it up. During both burglaries, my primary concern has been my pets. TVs, computers, etc are all replaceable, but the feeling of coming home to a pet happily wagging their tail can not. Enter Canary. Set up: My excitement peaked the very second I opened the box. Originally, I had been considering the All-in-One, but the Flex seems perfect for my little apartment. I was pleased to discover that it had a built-in battery and could be used wireless, but nevertheless placed it near an outlet. It came with a very long micro-USB cable to make charging even easier and also included wall-mount hardware. I placed mine near electronics in my living room so the recording light would blend in and not draw attention to itself, as other reviewers have noted. Initially, I found the app set-up on my phone to take longer than expected, since the instructions say set-up can take 10-15 minutes, but I figured it was an Android-based bug since I’ve had issues with Bluetooth in the past on other smart home related devices. I jumped online to chat with Canary support and a friendly representative had me up and running in no time. Operating mode: I’ve had to fidget with my settings a bit to get it to switch between home/away/night mode per my preferences. I tend to be a very private person so I have recording turned off while I’m at home. For whatever reason, I’ve always had issues with my Android disconnecting and reconnecting to my home Wi-Fi router, which I suspect is the case here when Flex is trying to determine if I’m located near my geofence to switch between operating modes. I’ve really enjoyed the functionality. I travel a lot for business and love that I can now check in on my cats – or cat sitter – anytime I want. And I can’t wait for the two-way talk to roll out in mid-September! I’ve upgraded to the annual membership as well: if I were regularly connected to any data network I think the out of the box package would be fine, but given my intermittent connectivity it’s imperative that I can review data for days at a time. It’s obvious to me that the team at Canary passionately developed a product that they’re proud of, and I’m thrilled to have one in my home.

A great product experience from start to finish
A great product experience from start to finish. To begin with, the packaging and presentation were much nicer than expected and setup is an absolute breeze with directions that truly anyone can understand. You simply download the app and and follow the simple prompts (with photos included). Up and running in 10 mins tops. The device itself is very solid and stable and appears very well made. The power cable is long enough for placement flexibility and is itself flat so it can be easily hidden and tucked under/behind things. Nice touch Canary. As far as the user experience, absolutely wonderful device that work exactly as described and as intended. Is this a full fledged home security system with central station monitoring? No, nor does it claim to be. For its intended purposed, as a motion activated security camera, it works wonderfully. The app is well designed and easy to use. Sensitivity can be adjusted which is handy for false triggers, and it does not automatically sound a siren or contact authorities when triggered which is paramount for those of us with pets. Speaking of pets, this is really my intended use of the device....to watch my mischievous dog when I'm not at home. It's great to be able to pull up a live feed and see what he's up to any time i like or be notified when he wakes up from a nap and starts looking for trouble. I usually keep the device pointed toward the front windows and I can actually see if someone is at the door or something if I see him get up and start barking. (The pay service has 2 way voice communication if you really want to freak out your pet!) Resolution in the daytime and in the dark are both excellent. My favorite feature is the fact that the unit automatically switches into away mode when I leave the house.....one less thing for me to remember in the morning. I have seen a lot of complaints about the free plan not saving video for long periods of time, etc etc....but honestly for me this is really a non-issue. The 24hr timeline and priority clips with the free version are really all that is needed for the intended purpose of being a security camera. You still have access to live video which is great for my purpose of watching my pet. Bandwidth and storage isnt free and if full length videos saved for a month and two way talk are features you require, I think their pay plan is very reasonable. Great device and experience, highly recommended! Both shots below were taken in relatively dark rooms on cloudy days. The processing in the Canary really brightens up the video well.

Added features & integration to a great overall service
This is my second Canary device – I purchased the original back in 2015. The product & service is perfect for what I am looking for: passive monitoring of my home (now office too) when I’m not there, and I’m not particularly interested in a monthly service plan. The algorithm they’ve built to identify suspicious movement that I can verify on my phone is exactly what I was seeking. Canary Flex is an improvement on the original model in four areas: 1) Built-in battery – long-life, don’t have to plug in if you recharge weekly 2) Outdoor usage / weatherproof 3) Flexible magnetic base allows for vertical (up/down) movement 4) Long power cord A+++++++++++ The battery is certainly the most useful addition and it’s built-in – this is critical for me, since I have a battery backup on my internet & communications it will continue to work even in the event of a power loss. Key for me was integration into the app that I already have on my phone – seamless set-up connecting to the wifi and all set. Now I have monitoring capabilities via Canary’s software both at home and my office. Considering another unit to watch the back door as well. Overall a quality device integrated with a great service that connects directly with your smartphone.

I caught him on Canary
Caught him in the act! Caught my husband, in the middle of a divorce, the soon to be ex husband, installing a fake smoke detector in place of my real smoke detector with a spy camera in it while I was out of town. Caught him in the act with the canary. Called the police and had a report made. He can't come into the house anymore. Highly recommend it. It only took me 5 or 10 minutes to install this little baby the day before I was going out of town. Well worth it! He thinks I spent thousands having a professional do it. When its as simple as plug it in and download the app. He's an idiot. Thank you canary. Update. I've had this a year. Although my internet is terrible, this device really works well for me. I still think it's a very good and cheap home security device. I don't know how it does it, but it can tell as soon as any door in the house is opne, even though it can't see any of them. Must detect some light change in the room or something. I'm thinking about getting a few for outside the house.
