• RICE AND SPAGHETTI WON’T FALL THROUGH THE HOLES: A big improvement over both old-fashioned colanders with gaping holes and mesh colanders. They drain fast and won’t clog up with food.
  • QUICK DRAINING MICRO-PERFORATIONS: Tiny, closely spaced holes mean your food drains fast without having to tilt the bowl. The stable draining ring base won’t tip over and won’t leave your food sitting in a puddle.
  • RUST-PROOF DISHWASHER SAFE 18/10 STAINLESS STEEL: You'll be impressed with the quality of the heavy duty steel with riveted handles. Designed to stand up to the rigors of a professional kitchen.
  • STRAIN EVEN TINY GRAINS AND PASTAS: The holes in this colander are small enough that you can strain most beans, pastas, and grains as well as fruits and vegetables without any worries.
  • HEAVY DUTY STEEL TO LAST A LIFETIME: High quality steel for a colander that is thicker and more durable than any colander you’ve ever had. Easy cleanup - just run it through the dishwasher.

Very nice, especially given the price. It is a bit larger than I was expecting, but that is a good thing as I can put quite a lot in it. The bottom stand is convenient as it allows the colander to be placed in the sink. Some cheap plastic ones don't have that, meaning you might need to hold a pot of boiling water in one hand and the colander in the other. It seems fairly sturdy and well made, but time will tell how it holds up. Then only thing I don't like about it is the outside of the colander is a bit rougher that it could be. The inside is nice and smooth, but it seems like the outside where the holes were punched was not machined to be as smooth. It is only slightly annoying as brushing fingernails or skin across the back while moving it with a full load is a little uncomfortable (like nails on a chalkboard feeling without the sound for me).

This colander is the best I've owned. I bought it because it was similar, though less expensive, than the one recommended by America's Test Kitchen. That makes it perfect. It drains instantly, so pasta doesn't continue cooking. It's tiny holes stop fine pasta from slipping through. It washes up beautifully. Look no further..... and enjoy the money you saved!!

I love this colander so much that I just ordered a second one. I did not realize the difference it would make, but this drains so much easier than my old plastic OXO colander and is easier to clean. The OXO is going to the yard sale and I am a believer. Update October 24, 2015: The more I use this colander, the more I love it. It's holding up well and is sturdy. I have a small kitchen, so I'm attaching a picture of how I store mine in on the side of my refrigerator.

This is exactly what we needed. Our ancient colander finally had to be replaced, as it was plastic, and one of the handles snapped off. Plastic probably wasn't a good idea to begin with, so we were happy to order this stainless steel version. The price is much better than the one for the brand that America's Test Kitchen recommended, and as far as we can tell, the features and quality are probably as good. It is quite sturdy and heavy duty. So far it's working just great!

Worked fine while the handle stayed on. Bought in February 2016, handle fell off July 2017. We only ever hand washed it. Seems like it should last longer than 17 months. EDIT: So, Epica Products stood by their product; apparently it has a "Complete Replacement Warranty". They replaced the colander, easy, peasy, no fuss. If you have any problems with your Bellamain Micro-perforated Stainless Steel 5-quart Colander contact Epica products at support@epicaproducts.com or call 888-507-0576.

This is a very nice colander/strainer. I purchased it to use with rice, as my other colander allowed the grains to slip through. This one does not, though the odd grain will still go through if it hits at just the right angle, which is unavoidable. I love the foot on this, too, as it keeps whatever I'm draining from accidentally getting hit with water in the bottom of the sink (like, say, if you accidentally seal the drain with the foot of this colander :-). I'm very happy with this purchase, as it's good quality and cleans up beautifully.

I used it to drain salted chopped tomatoes and also to rinse and strain rice for sushi. It performed really well at both tasks, allowing the excess water to drain completely from the tomatoes without pooling and the perforations were small enough that they didn't allow the short grain rice to escape. It's a good size, too. I was able to stir and agitate the contents without it spilling over the side. Finally, it is constructed of a solid material, so holds it's shape unlike most mesh strainers that seem to flatten out over time.

This colander meets my expectations. It replaces both an old colander and an old strainer; effectively does the work of both and is easy to clean. The colander is well made with the handles being quite sturdy. As one reviewer commented, the only problem is if you place the colander directly of the sink drain so the water pools in the sink. Her solution is simple; just offset the strainer across the drain and the problem is solved. I would buy this strainer again.

I've looked for quite some time for a colander like the old aluminum one my mother used when I was little. It seems like the ones they make now don't have enough holes, especially on the bottom, to drain food properly. Not this one! OMG! This is the best colander I've ever seen. I ordered it thinking I'd just take a chance on it. Am I glad I did. Even my older brother and sister both looked at it and asked where I got it and commented on how well made it is and how there are so many holes. I would buy this as a gift for someone, because it's so sturdy; the holes are small enough that you can drain anything in it (though I haven't tried quinoa, yet), not to mention it is very nice looking. Oh, and BIG! I'd highly recommend this for anyone looking for a good colander for a gift or for themselves.

I recently had a plastic colander which I have owned for over 16 years develop a hole large enough to have macaroni fall through it. Since I needed to replace it, I looked at on-line reviews to see what colander I should buy. The Bellemain micro-perforated stainless steel was very highly ranked. I feel that this colander met my expectations. It seems well made and it drains well. It also is relatively large which is good when making food for groups of people. I would recommend this colander for someone looking for a good functional and durable colander.
