Brother P-touch PTD600VP PC Connectible Label Maker with Case. I just received the P-touch and Case yesterday. I registered the product and was able to download the software and drivers for the unit on a Windows 10 machine. The is a great product. I love that you can use the software & your PC to do printing of labels etc. The software has some great options and ideas of creating labels. The case does not have a lot of room for additional tapes, but if you remove the book etc, you can store 2 additional small label tapes under the unit and use the downloaded manual to look up info about the unit (Same as the Book) and put the book and stuff in a safe place. Like any product, there can always be room improvement. I recommend this unit. Thanks Brother

Very happy with this new label maker! It can print on a wide range of tapes, from 1/4" to 1" wide. the instruction book is a little clumsy, but once you get used to the symbols in the directions, you will be a label expert! Only takes a couple of minutes to unpackage, plug in, read instructions, and you are on your way to making simple labels. Once you become proficient on the simple labels, you can start exploring all the fonts, symbols that you can use to make fancy labels. The only downfall about this product is the MASSIVE case that it comes in! Way too big, could be made to be much smaller and still hold the label maker, charger, a few tape cartridges, etc. Update: we labeled all of our phone charging cords, computer cords, electric bike cords, electric tool charger cords, gaming cords to make sure we knew what charger or cord goes with which device. I now have the label maker hooked up to our computer, using the P-touch software gives you so many more options, including small pictures for your labels. Love this machine. Update: Now, every time we purchase a new device, we automatically go to the Brother machine and print out wire labels to make sure we know what wire goes with which device. I keep it hooked up to our computer full time now.

Really nice label printer and build quality, with the computer software you are able to add graphics or pictures on your label as an added bonus. Fastest way to get up and running is to plug it via USB to your computer, download the software and off you go. I haven't try using the keys on the printer itself yet, since the software provides me much more flexibility I just haven't bother. By using the computer software I am able to reduce the label waste by 50%, I make sure that I adjust my label size to end at the last letter of the word and this will avoid wasting that inch or so of expensive label (can't do anything about the waste at the beginning of each label). Another way to save is to wait until you have a few labels you need to create and then just type like a run-on sentence so that it prints a long label and use scissors to separate each label out (don't forget to move the label size to the last letter before hitting Cut).

Love my label maker! I especially appreciate being able to use many types and widths of ribbons. I also like being able to change the size, font, and style of the letter in my labels. The screen is very clear and easy for my aging eyes to see. The size the words look like on the screen can also be adjusted and made larger if you need it. This doesn't effect the actual font size on the label when it is printed. The case is very sturdy and easy to use. I love having an AC adapter to power up my label maker when my batteries die. It's a very usable size and light enough to cart around. When I set the machine to use a short tab cut, it shortens the amount of tape wasted on the last end. It seems very reasonable the amount I loose on the front end of the tape every time I make a new label. Like others have suggested, I try to make several labels at a time and then cut them apart myself. This allows me to control the margins on each label. What I wish for: cut and paste option and slightly better navigation tools when moving around on a long label. I can move from the beginning to the end, but if I have two lines on a label, I can't move up a line while retaining the same position with respect to the beginning and end. I haven't figured out how to use the computer label generated option yet, but that's me, not the machine. It is more complex than just opening a document and typing. I would definitely recommend this to a friend.

I picked this one to start with since I dropped my old one and broke it. I find I use it more as label printer off of my laptop when I need to do labels than as stand alone label maker. The case protects the printer and can carry 4 tapes with the printer. I did put in batteries and found that the batteries did not last a month until I tried to first use them and then failed to power up. Plan on using the power adapter as the power source. You will need to pull the brother software down from the internet and will need to register to do so if you want to connect this to a PC.

I have been using this P-touch for a few months now and I am extremely impressed! The label maker by itself is extremely easy to use and the color screen makes it easy to review what you are printing out. The included case is what makes this buy a "Love It" because I can keep the Label Maker, all of the label tape that I need, the power cord and the USB cable in one easy to reach place(see picture). The software for the computer is not as intuitive as I thought it might be but I was able to print out some logos using images from the web. The print quality from my downloaded images was impressive so I will definitely use that feature in the future. In summary, this is a great buy for any type of label making need you have!

I've had an opportunity to use this as a stand alone machine and also hooked up to my laptop. Check prices daily. The best price will be around $65.00 but fluctuates constantly. Buy right away when it hits that price point. It will skyrocket a lot higher. I paid $350 for the Brother PT-9600 portable but that thing is ancient 1990's technology compared to this and failed after six months. I paid $775 for a Brady BMP71 portable labeler, but the software was completely useless, no fonts or other features, expensive labels. This PT-D600 is the absolute best value for your money. Hands down. Just wish it accepted 1-1/2" tapes because I have a ton left over from my defective PT-9600. I was buying the half priced generic COOL TONER label cartridges, but they seem to have run out and will not replenish a few sizes of black on white background. Very disappointing. There are alternative generic sellers on ebay and Amazon. Amazon generic sellers: Molshine, NineLeaf, Sienoc, Greencycle, NEXTPAGE® eBay has generic sellers, but be careful. Some tape generic cartridges do NOT work in this newest model PT-D600. I bought ten tapes from a seller in China that ended being $6 each. But the tapes came out both backwards and upside down! Weird!!! No reason for it because these do not use chips like ink printers. The seller has an almost flawless 10,000+ rating. Pros: -Laptop/PC download software offers many many more font and other options. Software is easy and simple to understand. Highly recommend using your computer or laptop to create labeling. So much easier. Easy to read display. QWERTY keys. Cons: -Buttons are excessively stiff. Must hit direct middle, because there appears to be play when pressing toward the edge of the buttons. Ended up missing too many characters. Having to go back and press again. Now using laptop to avoid that issue and faster productivity. -Cool Toner 12mm 1/2 inch does NOT work on this machine. (Generic tape found only on Amazon). Found some other generic tapes which do not work on this newest series of Brother tape labelers. Don't know why yet. Looking at forums to find out.

I have had this printer for just over a month. I am very happy with its versatility and range of functions. The case is a great addition and makes storage quick and easy. For those complaining about how the unit wastes labels and TZTape there is the ability to change the amount of lead in and following label in the menu settings.

There is no finer labeler and tape combo than the Brother. I know other Brother models are excellent too. I had my last one for 20 years. I love the combo carrier because it holds all the cords and tape that I need. I just Open and Print. No need to remove the labeler to use it. Everything is together neatly in a case that is large, but not too large for this label loving owner. I love being able to pop in different sized tape cartridges with ease. The brightly lit screen is awesome. My only preference is that the "clear text" button would do so without any additional input from me "formatting?" "text only?"

This is just what I needed to label my boxes of inventory. I am able to print as many duplicate labels as I need, I can adjust the font and I can print on more than one line. I love the carrying case as it holds an extra 1" wide cartridge and the instructions and the cord for the computer. I haven't attached this to a computer yet but I don't want to lose the cord. So far I've stuck with only genuine cartridges as I read that others have had problems with the generic ones. You don't want to use the default font size though as it is huge and wastes too much tape. Also, I noticed that the same tape is listed on multiple offer pages at wildly different prices on Amazon and on other sites. Some sellers are selling 4 or 6 cartridges at total prices much higher than Amazon's price. Amazon has very good prices for the tape and the printer including Prime shipping.
