Really effective, easy-to-use, high-capacity stapler!
I'm such a nerd that I get super excited about office supplies. At work, I used to use binder clips for larger stacks of papers, but found them more cumbersome to deal with (not to mention keep track of) than traditional staples. The Swingline Optima 40 is a great, compact, high-capacity stapler that still uses standard staples- which is great because at first, I was worried that I would have to find specialized staples to use this. It's worked great for everything I need, and I've successfully stapled up to 44 sheets without a problem. It also requires minimal effort to use- I don't have to be He-Man in order to stapled though a huge stack of papers.

Best Stapler I've Ever Had - Coming from an Accoutant who staples A LOT
I bought this stapler for work as I work in accounting and handle a ton of paperwork. It is lightweight and can be stapled while sitting down or by lifting and stapling. I have been using it for several months (1000s of staples) and have not had one name yet. I liked it so much I purchased another for home. One reviewer mentioned they saw this one in store and it was too bulky to staple. I believe he may have been referring to the full size version as this was a mini. I have stapled hundreds on invoices at one time and not felt any discomfort in my hand or wrist. I would DEFF recommend for anyone.

F-Ing AMAZING
Ok-- i use a stapler every day and I was getting tired of trying to staple 10-20 sheets and it jamming or not stapling all the way. I purchased this and cannot BELIEVE IT. I can't believe it can staple 30-40 pages and you barley squeeze it. I was sooooo damn amazed that I showed my buddies at work. They were even surprised!! This thing is awesome.

Used to dislike having to use a stapler....
How staplers have evolved in the probably thirty years or so since I bought my last one! I'm used to having to take a deep breath before whacking it with the heel of my palm, and suffering the after-pain. This is sort of like moving to a very well made compact car from one of those 50-ish autos with the big fish fins. Still made by Streamline, which I guess is the Cadillac of staplers, but smoother, more efficient, and attractive, besides. Who hasn't always secretly wished for a fashionable stapler? I've always believed that it's what inside that matters, but in addition to acquiring this very up-to-date and workable office accessory, I learned that I am shallow enough that appearance *does* count. I'm looking for a self-help book to assist me in correcting this character flaw.

Excellent Quality for the money!
I bought these through Amazon on 2-13-2019. If I remember correctly, 25 pages is recommended, but I have stapled just over 30 pages at times with this stapler. It is sturdy, well made, and is excellent for the home or office. Nice short length in size. Good sturdy stapling action. To me this is the best stapler you can get without upgrading to an electric power stapler. It is perfect for those "middle of the road" stacks needing to be stapled; not 50 pages, but perfect for 25 to 30 pages (for paper with regular thickness). I was tired of those flimsy staplers that can't seemed to staple more than 10 pages. So I bought a big desktop stapler, which was great until it broke down. I dont know how to fix it. So I bought this one. I'm happy with the stapling action. It's perfect. Update 6-6-2019: I'm still completely satisfied with this stapler.
Pretty Swag
WORKS ON 47 SHEETS IN ONE SHOT!
Pretty smooth so far. Stapled 24 sheets, tested 3 times and did not jam. I can't test anything over 25-sheets with the staples I bought because the staples have a stated capacity of 25 sheets. I wish they have a recommended staples for this stapler. I can't give a 5-star unless I tested on 35-40 sheets. I need staples with 40-sheets capacity in order to fully utilize this stapler. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. UPDATE 10/10/2016: This actually works on 47 sheets even with the Optima staples, which claims 25 sheets capacity (Swingline Staples, Optima Premium, 0.25 Inch Leg Length, 210 per Strip, 3,750 Staples per Box (S7035556)). I tested it and it's amazing, zero jam on anything within 47 sheets capacity. Changing this to a 5-star review.

Swingline Optima 40
The Optima 40 really does staple 40 pieces of paper together. Stapled appearance has a crisp fold, and stapler lever is VERY easily pressed down to operate. It did not come with staples so i used staples out of my regular stapler. Worked great, but went ahead and ordered some Optima staples later. The only potential failure MIGHT be the little flat piece inside the slide that guides and holds the staple is not metal, it's plastic. That and the spring seem a bit flimsy, but time will tell. Everything else about it has the look and feel of quality, and as before, it is a pleasure to use. I'll post later if there is a problem down the road. Nicest stapler i've ever used.

Listen for the Second Click. Uses Regular Staples
I have this stapler. People in my office who used it love it. It is small and easy to use. The reduced force is a welcome touch. Because of the reduced force mechanism, you'll feel a first click, when you push it. It is just top part of the mechanism closing onto the staple. But your staple isn't pushed through at this point. You need to follow it through until the entire staple closes with a second click, and then you'll get a perfect staple every time. I have a feeling people who get jammed staples is because they didn't staple all the way through, like mentioned above. Another thing is, this stapler uses normal staples. It does NOT use fancy "high capacity" or "heavy duty" staples. I know this little thing can staple 40 sheets (amazing isn't it?). Maybe that throws people off and think it needs the special staples to do the job. No, it doesn't! It uses the regular staples. But Swingline does recommend use their premium staples. I have used both generic staples (though it's still Swingline branded) and premium SF.3 staples and I have no problem with either.

great replacement for 25 page stapler!
I was looking for a stapler that can staple multiple pages to replace my 25 page stapler. I came across this one and was very pleased at the fact that it can staple 40 pages and use standard staplers! That meant that I would not have to replace my box of 1000 staples. When I received it, the first thing I did was test the stapler out. I folded a piece of 20lb printer paper until it was 40 pages thick. I had my doubts...but those quickly went away when I tried to press down on the stapler. The pages held up to the staple and it did not take very much effort to do so (in comparison to those metal desk staplers at work). Overall, If you are looking for a stapler that can staple multiple pages with minimal effort, I would chose this one.

Must have for any office worker
Update 3/1/2019: a few days before 1 year of purchase, the internal spring mechanism broke and popped out, rendering the stapler useless. I emailed Swingline customer service and they were quick to send out a replacement, no questions asked. Glad to see the company honors their warranty. ****************************************** Best stapler ever. A thousand times better than the basic crummy stapler provided by my job. I frequently have to staple legal briefs and this goes through 30-40 pages without effort. The muscles in my hand also are no longer sore from stapling all day. I like that you can just use regular staples with it. Would be nice if it were a full length stapler though so I don't have to refill it as much. It only fits a half row of staples.
