I love to use this program to erase picture backgrounds. It works better than any of the programs I have for doing that.

Love it!!!! Corel you are the best with your phenomenal product and at very wonderful price for ones the can't afford the cutting edge software. Love you software!

I really enjoy my Painter Essentials 5. A real value for the price. I have used the full program Painter in the past and find even with its limitations (such as no masks, limited ways of selection from individual layers etc) PE5 it is a good program. Very stable and has many of the basic good brushes. (Would love to be able to add more ). I found auto painting works very well. The buyer should have a basic knowledge of using layers to use this program to its full potential. I found it very compatible to use with work done in Photoshop Elements. Good videos on YouTube, but we could use more with simple basic painting use of the program. A good starting program for painting and a good painting program that does not take a lot of hard drive space up on your laptop. Try it you will like it!

Holy Moly, is this software fun! I take and edit a lot of pictures for business, and have done so for years. Essentials 5 has revitalized my pure enjoyment of computer art....photos and other expressions.

So much better than the Paint app that comes with Windows 10! I love it!

Does what It says it can do. It works with Win 7. I was missing the scan photo feature in building backgrounds for illustrations that every later version of Corel Draw, Painter and Essentials lacks. This has sped up my illustration creation ability to also match my art style, instead of looking like the same f stop throughout the photograph, background. I also like the tools that work well in the blending of color and creating better illustrations that is more like when I paint by hand on canvas or bristol board with oils or acrylics.

I use it now everyday to incorporate multi media and art into my digital work..Wouldn't be able to function without it now! Very easy to use and great tutorials

I've wanted to give Corel Painter a try ever since Adobe instituted it's subscription-only access to versions of Photoshop past CS6. I have been a Photoshop user for decades and have taught classes in it, and my main focus has been using it as an artistic tool rather than as a straight-up photo retouching app. Since Painter Essentials is a photo effects/painting program, rather than a photo editing program, I thought it might fit the bill, and it does so rather nicely. I began having fun with Painter Essentials as soon as I launched it. Although I do not have experience with the full version of Painter, I can say that Painter Essentials 5 features an incredible array of tools and effects for the price. One of the things that surprised me the most was the speed at which the program works. Even though my computer has a very fast processor and an upgraded graphics card, I am used to sitting and waiting while Photoshop effects are rendered, so I expected the same, or longer, with Painter. Not so. Painter instantaneously renders almost everything. Love that! Among the things I like: - Fast rendering - Mind-blowing selection of brushes (the jitter and particle brushes are amazing - the ability to easily create realistic hair and fur is awesome and the water-loaded and blending brushes allows for some beautiful effects) - Photo-painting, especially the Soft Cloner Brush - Tracing - Layers - Works with a Wacom tablet, although you have to be sure the pen settings are not set to trigger unwanted events - mine kept switching me to a new desktop before I changed the settings - Ability to zoom in with a nifty inset Navigator screen - 32 levels of undo - Great choice of canvasses - Cool paint-mixing palette - Easy to learn Cons: I can't stop using it! Some of the auto-effects require additional manual touch-ups to look right, but this is not unique to this program Not entirely intuitive if your brain is wired to Photoshop, but if you poke around a bit, you can generally figure things out Whether staring with a photograph or a blank canvas, Corel Painter Essentials 5 offers great tools to help you create beautiful images.

It was a bit hard to get used to at first, but I love it, I love the brushes and how easy to use it was once you got used to it.

I got this because I wanted something to use with a drawing tablet. It works very nice, and unlike the newest versions means I don't have to connect online to use.
