I ordered this 4 pack refill when I ordered the Litter Genie 3 months ago and I still haven't gone through the first cartridge that came with the Litter Genie. Anyhow, it's a good price and I won't have to worry about reordering for a long time.

The Litter Genie is one of the best purchases I've ever made! It saves so many bags and makes cleaning out the litter bin much less of a hassle than it would be otherwise. And there's no smell! As for the refills themselves: These are the same as the starter pack that came with the Litter Genie itself, so they fit the unit perfectly. It can be a bit hard to pull off the plastic tab that keeps the bag/tube in place, but I've always been able to get it open after a few seconds. I've been getting these refills for three years, and in all that time, I've had one defective refill--the bag was apparently stuffed into its container the wrong way around, because I had to pull out the entire tube in order to get to the end. It was a shame to waste all that plastic, but at least the refills are inexpensive enough that it wasn't a huge loss. (I'm keeping the review at 5 stars because, in general, the product is awesome, and I consider that one defect to have been a fluke. If it happens again, I'll come back and reduce my rating.) Bottom line: If you have a Litter Genie (and, if you have an indoor cat and use clumping litter, I'd highly recommend it!), you'll need refills to keep it going, and these are the ones to get.

I have been using the litter genie for about two years now. I find this a great way to store used litter until it is time for the weekly trash to come. Regarding the 4 pack refills, I always have a difficult time finding a 4 pack at my local pet store. Buying them individually or in a 2 pack you will always pay more. The price is slightly less than what is available at my local PetSmart, and this saved me the hassle of going there only to find that these are not in stock. The bags fit into my original Litter Genie that is gray. I have two cats, a 12 year old calico named Honey and a 3 year old ragdoll named Suki. We can usually get about a month per refill using the Litter Genie bags. If you have one cat, I am sure you could easily have one refill last a few months. As I have not used them that long, I do not know if the odor would be significant after that amount of time. However, I have been impressed that the smell does not seem to permeate out of the bags or the system. I have looked into alternatives to using the bags, but this is the most straignt forward method that is meant specifically to use with the Litter Genie. You tear off a black tab on the top, lift the top part out of the inside of the unit that is on a hinge, pull the bag out a little and pull it down past the spring loaded cover. When the bag is almost empty, you will see a black line on the outside of the bag. This is a great indicator if you become low on refills that it is definitely time to order a new one. I can't picture a life without my Litter Genie!

Absolutely love our Litter Genie. Before we adopted a bonded pair of cats last summer, I'd privately made fun of friends (and my own sister!) who owned a Litter Genie. Was it really THAT much more difficult with two cats as opposed to just one? Were they really SO lazy that they couldn't be bothered to walk the cat turds to the trash daily? I'm telling you, I could not live in a two cat household without a Litter Genie. It makes all the difference. I've never tried any of the "hacks," as I don't find the price of these refill bags to be offensive, so I can't compare, but these bags are somehow, magically odor-leak-resistant. Sometimes a cat will even lay down next to the full bag of cat turds after I change it - just casually lounge next to a large (and HEAVY) bag of her own poo.

I've been using the Litter Genie for almost 3 years and it is the best litter solution I've found anywhere. It really does seal off the odor and the bags can hold a lot of litter before they need to be emptied. I also love that I can eliminate using a plastic bag every single day that is harmful to the environment. The refills are a great deal on Amazon so I buy the bulk packs like this one - it's nice to have a backup on hand in case we accidentally run out or are going on vacation. These refills fit both the standard Litter Genie and the Litter Genie Plus - I have both and have used these refills in both pails with no problems. Definitely recommend! Like most people, I rely on honest product reviews to make purchase decisions. Because the experience of others has been so helpful to me, I try to provide honest, helpful reviews to assist other shoppers in selecting the right products for them. I hope my review has been helpful to you!

Other than the fact that we had to go on-line to find out how to first use the bags with the Litter Genie Plus, that product with a replacement pack constitutes a good system. This replacement pack fits both the Litter Genie & Litter Genie Plus. The pack is actually one long tube of litter bag type of material that is tied off to create a "bag", and later cut whenever you want to discard some cat feces. Then more is pulled down and re-tied, with that process being repeated until the entire package is empty. When starting a new replacement pack you should handle the material very gently after breaking the tab. I use the Genie mainly for feces, only occasionally including clumped litter. Sometimes you have to jiggle the Litter Genie container or push the cat feces down with the scooper while holding the "movable tray" out, but other than that, it couldn't be easier, and there is virtually no odor when the Litter Genie/Plus is closed. I keep a spare refill pack on hand for convenience. Granted the price has gone up, and it really could be a little cheaper, but still, I prefer the convenience of the pack to attempts to "hack" the system by trying to use large garbage bags, because the Litter Genie refill packs are strong enough, and with one cat (Chloe) lasts us for weeks.

Here's how I make the Litter Genie refill last longer: I keep some twine and some scissors handy as I begin and then change the bags. Instead of tying a knot in the plastic tube (which uses up several inches), I tie a sturdy knot an inch or two from the end with the twine. I also have a round plastic wastebasket, lined with a small grocery store plastic bag, in the base of the Genie. When it's time to empty the unit, I carefully tie a new knot with twine a short distance above where I'm going to cut off the plastic Genie liner. I use the scissors to cut it and let it drop, open at the top, into that grocery bag. It's then easy to pick up the grocery bag by the handles, tie it closed, and dispose of it. Then I put a new grocery bag into the wastebasket, extend the tube of Genie liner down to the bottom, and we're good to go (hmm, pun unintended, but it works.) Tying the Genie bag itself uses up precious length, and I've gotten seven uses out of one tube with this method. I live in a fairly small home and the best space for the cat's box is actually partially hidden in my living room! Unless you happen to spy the semi-hidden box, you'd never know it was there because of my fastidious cat and the Litter Genie. I'm happy to give the whole system five stars and thumbs and paws up from both of us!

I love using the litter genie. It makes cleaning the litter box less of a hassle. I foster kittens for my local humane society and I clean their boxes multiple times a day to encourage the kittens to use them. I also work full time and don't have much time to fuss over the box and running bags out to the garbage because the kittens themselves take up my time. Cleaning the boxes is a quick scoop, drop in the litter genie, pull the trap door and off to wash hands. It takes a while to fill up for little kittens, and it doesn't smell. Dropping plastic bags into the house garbage definitely stunk, meaning I had to run each bag, each time, outside to the bin the old way. Definitely order these online as the refills are much more expensive in stores. Great for adult cats too, but the bag fills up more quickly. I have not had a bag rip yet, even if the bag is really full and heavy.

We've been using this product now for about three months. We've been using clumping litter for as long as I can remember. Normally, we'd just dump it in a bag and then once a week dump the bag. Messy, smelly, etc. My daughter found the Genie and kept telling us to try it. We finally did and were sold after the first few days. I've got one gotcha. The first time I used it I didn't realize you had to make sure you were using a single ply of plastic and ended up with a double ply. Makes the entire process harder and obviously uses up material much faster than you need to. I've found the end of the bag on both sides of the container. Just keep searching until you are sure you have a single ply. The instructions aren't real clear on this. You can tell by sliding the plastic between your fingers. If it slides too easily you have two plys. Once you start the bag you don't have to worry about this again. Highly recommended if you use clumping litter.
