Great application's utility limited by others...

A powerful genealogy tool whose limitations are the result of other genealogical programs, e.g., easy to download GED files from Ancestry.com, but no actual photos, documents, or stories because these do not download from Ancestry.com.

TMG user now pleased and relieved with Family Historian 6!

Just getting started with FH6, but so far have been very pleased. I've built a 12,000+ person database in The Master Genealogist, and the information transferred to FH6 with only a few tweaks. I was concerned about my list of 800+ sources transferring as well, but that also transferred, and with a little massaging, I was able to preserve my source numbering scheme as well!

Excellent application

I have used Family Tree Maker since its beginning, I bought the last update in 2009 and realized there was really no substance to the updates for the cost. Now 2009 doesn't work correctly on the "new" Ancestry.com, in addition to its own buggy operation. So I started looking for a replacement. I had downloaded the trial version from the Calico Pie website and was very pleased with its operation. Even the trial version took in my whole combined family tree. I was very pleased with the interface, and since I am not a touch typist I like the fact that when I set focus to type something in the focus stays even if the mouse gets bumped. This was not the case with FTM 2009 and due to hot key interaction caused many problems. All in all my experience with the trial was so rewarding that I bought the program. Once the full version was loaded I explored the links on MyHeritage and found new information that needs to be explored. My thanks to Calico Pie for an excellent application. 5 stars since I have had no problems at all with this software.

Best Genealogy software for assembling data and book making

Of the many many software packages out there, this package has the best features I was looking for to create books and booklets from the information that I have been gathering for years. The only con is that although it will sync to several genealogy websites, it cannot sync to Ancestry. It DID however flawlessly upload the Ancestry Gedcom files. I would highly recommend it. It is very easy to learn even for the newcomer and it gives you complete control of your book writing. It will create in .pdf or in rtf files to import into your word processor for your final touches.

Family History Made Easy!

The Family Historian 6 Genealogy and Family Tree software arrived in perfect condition and on time. I had no trouble at all installing on my PC and it seems to work flawlessly in Windows 10. It will take awhile for me to explore its vast array of features, but from what I've encountered so far, it's very forgiving and user friendly. I like the general layout of things and I think it will enable me to assemble all of my various bits of family history that I've been compiling from various sources over the years. It also has a direct link to the MyHeritage and FindMyPast websites which is very nice indeed! I give it top marks for ease of use and versatility. Very satisfied with this product!

Very powerful

Purchased for my wife, who's currently working through our family tree. She has absolutely fallen in love with this. It's very powerful, and provides so many details at a touch. We haven't gotten to the point of figuring out how to share it with other family members, but that will come. The capabilities of adding photos, changing root individuals, mapping family origins... all very exciting. We're looking forward to continuing to add as our research reveals more. I would say, for the non-technically savvy, there's a bit of a learning curve, but it comes pretty quickly.

My experience with this has been great and somewhat surprised me

As a former FTM user I waited a year until purchasing a product that works with Windows10. I'm a bit particular about functionality and ease of navigation. My experience with this has been great and somewhat surprised me. The GEDCOM files imported easily, it's intuitive, screens contain plenty of information but are not cluttered. I would definitely recommend this software product.

Like it so far

Purchased to replace my subscription to Ancestry. Tired of all the incoveniences in processing through Ancestry. Researched programs before I purchased. Like it so far. The presentation of information makes it easier to trace families.
