This is a nice attachment. It screwed on nicely to my kit lens for the Sony a6000 selp1650. The hood (which is a hard plastic) is attached to the screw cap (which is metal) with small balls. Things like this is why I like online shopping. There are no camera shops anymore to go to for questions and shopping around.

Great lens hood kit for my a6000. I'm not sure why people are saying you need to unscrew/screw back the hood to reverse it because that is not the case. With the product you have a mounting ring which you initially screw onto your lens. With the mount ring properly attached to the lense, the hood is easily attachable by snapping it onto the mount ring. If you want to reverse it, you simply just have to snap the hood back out and in, no screwing required.

Just received this Fotodiox lens hood for the Sony 3.5-5.6/ 16-50mm OSS lens. There were mixed reviews, some people saying you couldn't use this hood with this lens, others saying that there wasn't a lens cap with this hood kit. I received a hood, lens cap and cap tether, just like the photo and description said. The hood threaded without any problems and the quality seems great! It also came with a lens cap (which replaces the OEM cap) and it seems to fit and work just fine. The hood pulls off easily in order to reverse for storage and the mounted position seems sturdy. For $10 this little hood and kit is great in my opinion. I saw a comment that claimed this hood would cause focal obstruction, so I tested it out and I didn't find that to be true with the Sony A6300. No vignetting or blur with this particular lens, I can't say the same for wider lenses.

I lost my original sony lens cap and found this lens cap and hood on Amazon. At first I thought it was the correct size when it got delivered. Once I saw how the adapter ring can be separated from the hood and put on the camera lens with the threaded attachment, I found this to be an excellent piece of engineering. The hood just snaps on and off in either direction and is retained with small spring loaded balls that fit in a groove. I just keep the attachment ring on the camera all of the time so when I want to use the hood, I just snap it on. The lens cap is handy too, but you have to have the retainer ring on for it to fit. The original sony lens cap fit on inside the filter or lens. Very handy and a great price!

I purchased this hood for use on my Sony a6000 with the 16-50mm kit lens. I used this lens and hood extensively during a 2-month trip to Europe (4000 photos) and was very pleased with its performance. The hood provided the lens protection I was looking for and was easy to remove when needed. The only con is that the lens hood does cast a shadow when taking photos with a flash, so you’ll want to remove it for flash photography. Overall I’m very pleased with this purchase.

Thank goodness for answers to customer questions in this product listing. Instructions were not helpful, but once I read answers I knew to leave screw on adapter on the lens ( daylight filter in my case) and just pull hood off and turn it over. Getting ready to travel and I wanted the more compact size so now I' all set!

It works as advertised. Fit great on my SELP1650 before the camera fell off the Amazon Basics tripod (avoid those) and shattered the lens. The reversible feature is great for packing it away. It uses a ball bearing snap feature which rotates pretty freely so if it gets nudged the petals will move around the lens. The lens cap seems a bit cheap but I never had any problems with it.

I lost my original Sony lens cap and thought I can use this cap separately(Yes, I know I didn't read the description and reviews carefully). After getting this package, I realize the cap must be snapped on the ring and the ring is easy to attach to the lens. The flower hood is a optional for user. Great lens hood kit for the default lens of my nex6.

I purchased this lens hood for the kit lens that comes with the Sony a6300. I'm very happy with the hood. The hood easily snaps on to the base allowing you to leave the base on the lens at all times and for storing the camera, either removing the hood, or flipping it around. My favorite thing about the hood is probably that it has two sets of threads to screw in filters. The first set is the same size as the kit lens I think it's 40.5mm (I could be mis-remembering), which seems to be a pretty rare filter size. The second is a 52mm, which much more common. The ability to use either size filter is just downright awesome. Reducing the number of filters one must buy when purchasing for your set of lenses is always appreciated, plus, I have a couple filters from an old camera that I can now use. One other thing I like about the hood is that the lens cap is much easier to put back on than the one that came with my a6300. Plus it's got a little string so you can tie it in your strap or bag or somewhere easy to reach. Overall an excellent product, I'm very satisfied.

I was a little disappointed to find that Sony's kit 16-50mm lens did not have a hood. This fixes the issue. With this little lens being a powered zoom, I was initially fearful that this hood would foul the motorised return and cause lens errors. Not the case. Really pleased with this purchase. Please note that all my products are bought and paid for in full and I NEVER receive free or discounted products in return for my reviews. Amazon need to stop allowing that.
