Very useful product in the kitchen
I finally had a chance to use the cleaver for the first time. I roasted a chicken for dinner and once it was cool, I used the cleaver to cut the chicken up separating the legs and wings from the body and cutting up the breast. It worked really well. I used to use a regular butcher knife, but no matter how much I sharpened it, it would take me forever to saw through the chicken and I would end up with a big mess on my hands. The 7 inch stainless steel chopper-cleaver-butcher knife eliminated all the hard work I had to do before and I was able to dissect the cooked chicken with relative ease. It is a little heavy and I will have to get used to that, but that is a minor point.

Wow! This is a great cleaver!
I just received this cleaver and I am actually shocked by the quality for the price. We own some "Global" cutlery which average $50 or more for a single knife, so we know what quality looks like. The solid tang of the blade through the handle, the feel and finish of the handle and weight, as well as the sharpness of the blade on arrival have me totally beyond satisfied. I had to go and pick up one of my $75 Global knives and wonder why we paid so much for it!

STAINS all over when received
I received a replacement from the company soon after my review and the item was very good! I've been using it and I like it. Though I had received a defective item before. They had very effective customer service.

BEST CHEAP CLEAVER
I recently started making chicken wings at home. I borrowed a friends cleaver to cut the bones, but ended up denting the blade. I went to purchase him a new one, and buy myself one when I did some research and found this one. It was included on a list with $50+ cleavers as being a top rated cleaver, and I completely understand why. I paid less than $10 for it, and I wouldn't think that it was such a cheap product. It works great! I sharpen it before each use, but there are no dents, and it goes right through bones with no problem! My boyfriend used it the other day and even sliced the cutting board in half! If anything- this works TOO good! I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to purchase a cleaver, whether they use it regularly or not. It is worth every penny!

This knife has good balance and feel
If you ever peeked in the back of a Chinese restaurant you would know how effective this knife design is for rapid, effective cutting and chopping and transport of ingredients to bowl or pan. If you only had one knife, this could well be it, from chopping meat to finely slicing a clove of ginger or garlic. This knife has good balance and feel, and looks like it will hold a good edge to it. I would maybe caution any newbies to get some experience with standard french cooking knife first so you have good knife feel in your skill set, lest you add some fingertips to your latest creation, this not really a good knife for beginners.

Certainly hefty!
This is a substantial blade on this thing. I can’t believe I’ve been married almost 39 years and have never had a cleaver. But again, maybe that’s why the wife has never killed me! This thing has good heft and a balanced feel. The blade shape looks appropriate. It seems fairly sharp, but I have a lot of different knives, so I fully expect to have to do some edge work to get it like I want. But it is decently sharp out of the plastic (terrible) packaging. I think I’ll be happy with it.

I finally own a nice cleaver
Had I known I could get a meat cleaver this nice for this price I would have bought it a long time ago. I make a lot of soups during the cooler months and this cleaver is heavy and sharp enough to cut a chicken thigh or pork chop into pieces, allowing the flavor from the bones to enrich the soup. And it's good looking too. It looks like I spent a lot more for it than I did. Having the right tools gives you the power to do things you couldn't do without them and because I own this, I'm a bit better at making a delicious soup.

cutting was easy peasy. It does have a nice balance to ...
I ordered this cleaver to cut through some ribs. Not as sharp as I though it would be, but that's what a sharpener is for. It came with some plastic edge protectors on it wrapped in bubble wrap inside on a small cardboard sleeve, then packed inside of a bigger box. It arrived undamaged. The grip is comfy as long as your hands aren't oily or wet, it wont slip. Once it was sharpened, cutting was easy peasy. It does have a nice balance to it, not too heavy though. It is a nice inexpensive addition. Cant go wrong. 3/22/16 **Update** I used this cleaver today to cut up some Baby Back Ribs. At first, it wast rough, but I put it through the blade sharpener and it cut through raw meat like it was warm butter, it cut through raw chicken with ease. Once it was sharpened the blade, the cleaver was so much better, The best sharpener is the posted bought from a big box store. Once it was sharpened, make sure your fingers are out the way.

Heavy Duty For Sure!
I bought this butcher knife to chop up pork, chicken, and other meats. I found it to be exactly what I needed - heavy duty and very sharp. This thing chops with ease. I immediately run it under water and dry it after using it. So far it has been a great purchase for all my kitchen needs.

I'm very pleased with this product
My first cleaver purchase. I'm very pleased with this product, it performs very well. For me there was a small learning curve. It took awhile for me to figure out how to overcome my reluctance to swing it hard enough. I used this initially for some turkey wings, it's hard to explain, but if you want to cleave them, just swing the thing like you mean it, if you do this, it will go right through them first time every time. If you hold back, even a little, it will take 2 or 3 tries. After finding this out, it went through the drummettes easily and flawlessly. Separating the joints was like going through paper.
