A great thing to have

I was a little hesitant to get a 3DS. I hadn't necessarily heard the greatest things about any of the DS versions, but this thing is awesome. As a Nintendo kid it's just a nice thing to have when you want to play the newest versions of Nintendo's updated classics without having to depend on whatever console(s) you have; as someone who likes video games, it's nice to have just for a quick bit of playing to get out of your head and enjoy some moderately challenging, but very addicting games. The overall 3D aspect of it is rather funky, but it doesn't really take away from anything, because you can turn the 3D on and off very easily. Also, it's about as stupid as anything can get that the charger doesn't come with it, and you actually have to either order it separately or get this bundle. But I guess it just wouldn't be Nintendo if there wasn't some kind of terrible product marketing!

Best handheld gaming device I've had / tried.

This is what the 3DS should have been like from the beginning. If you love your DS Lite, DSi or DSi XL, then I assure you that this console feels like a worthy successor of such products. As a proud DS Lite owner, I always regarded the screens of the rest of the Nintendo DS / 3DS family as inferior, but this is not the case. Nintendo DS Games run beautifully on this screen: contrast is amazing, auto-brightness works great, and the images are sharp. The improved face-tracking system certainly makes a difference - the 3D effect finally feels natural to the eyes. There's also the exclusive content on the e-shop for this console (mainly SNES games), which make this one a no-brainer. Just get it.

Much more than I expected

I recieved my new 3ds a few days ago and was pleasantly surprised with the condition it was in. I ordered one that was of acceptable quality because I was planning on doing a housing, and button swap, but what I got was much better than acceptable. The top screen had no scratches, warping, or any visible defects, and the bottom screen looked like new. The housing itself has minor scratches on the top, and a small nick near the notification led. The new 3ds xl is by far the best dedicated handheld Nintendo has released to date and I would highly recommend anyone planing on getting a 3ds go for either the new 3ds xl or the new 2ds xl. Games load much faster, and downloads take much less time than the standard 3ds. The larger screens really make playing games a much better experience than the smaller ones did, and on top of that they get much brighter.

3D is wow! Well done Nintendo!

I bought this as a present for my child at Christmas. She uses it all the time and from what I've seen, the 3D is amazing! Seriously, I don't know how they do it, but it's awesome. The screens are large and bright but make sure you buy screen protectors to keep them safe!). The new buttons are well laid out and the unit is very solid feeling. It starts up fast, has a good wireless adapter and can use both physical and electronically purchased games. The speakers have good sound and are just the right amount of loud. Sound via headphones is really good as well. Coming from a DS, this is a completely worthwhile upgrade.

Highly recommended

My 13 teen year old daughter loves the new DS 3D the XL is a great size! I was very surprised that the 3D looked so good on a hand held gaming system. The first 3D DS version was not worth buying, my daughter would always turn the 3D off she didn't like it at all would hurt her eyes. With this new version of the 3D DS, there is a big difference it's very clear looks great. My daughter can finally use the 3D feature she still turns it off depending on what game she is playing, but I'm very happy that she can use the 3D when she wants to with out hurting her eye's. The only down side I can think of is for the price that you are paying it should come with a charger! So if you do not already have a DS you will need to buy one separately, charger is not included. If you have an old DS the charger, will work on this new DS. Over all this is a great gaming system for all ages!

Newer 3DS still as fun as the older one but ...

My 11 year old is enjoying his newer 3DS XL!! He already has the DSi, 3DS XL but found out about the newer 3DS when he began using his old 3DS from a friend at school and had to have it for the new Minecraft game that uses the c stick. He is enjoying it!!!

Great console but not my favorite SKU

I am very pleased with the console. Built quality is great, sound and image are great too. I wish they would have brought the regular version (non XL). I would much prefer that, but I gave up and got this one instead. Whatever I guess, I can't blame the product for that, so 5 stars go in anyways. Another complain about Nintendo themselves is that they released this and black only... Black is too boring, and red definitively isn't my favorite color. Give us more options, NoA, we're a huge market. +Does more than I thought it would +Great battery life -I wish the buttons where fully colored like the regular New 3DS instead of having colored letters.

Huge improvement from old 3DS

Big improvement from the last 3DS. Exterior: Outer surface is really smooth. It can have fingerprints, but it feels incredibly smooth and is really comfortable to hold. The C-stick is a bit tricky to use but you get used to it really quick. Home, start, and select buttons are all in better places and are easier to press. Software: The New 3DS tracks your face and adjusts 3D accordingly. I never thought much of 3D but this feature is fantastic and works quite well. The internet browser is fantastic. You can now have tabs and play videos. The proccessing power is at least twice as fast, too.

Major upgrade over old 3ds

I went back and forth between upgrading to this, or keeping my old 3ds.... In the end, I went with the new one, and I couldn't be more happy. The size of the screen on this product is just right, whereas i always felt the old model's screen was much too small. I love how much faster this guy boots up, and find myself playing it more than i played my old one. I hated the 3d feature on the old 3ds, but now exclusively play games in 3D because of how beautiful they are, and how i dont have to keep my head perfectly still

Perfect.

Bought for my almost 6 year old for Christmas. He LOVES it. The graphics are beautiful. We do not allow him to use 3D yet, but his dad and I have tested it out and it looks pretty cool. I thought it would be a bit big for his hands, but he seems to play it comfortably, I think it is the perfect size so he's not squinting to see the screen. His favorite game so far has been Kirby, but yoshi's new world and lego jurassic world have been great too!!
