Pros vastly outweigh the cons on this thing. Pro This thing is very light and but extremely powerful. My dad who is in his 60s has cut his raking time from over a hour to less then 20 minutes with this thing. The mulching feature is so strong it only takes one bag to clear our entire backyard. A 3 foot high and 3-4 foot around pile can be mulched into a single bag. The variable speed means anyone can use this with no problems. The thing is so light even my elderly mom can easily carry it and its is very easy to hang for storage. It is much much quieter than a gas blower, it is so quite you dont really need earmuffs. It comes with lots and lots of little add ons for easy customization. Cons Changing it from blowing to mulching mode is kind a a pain to do one handed so i usually put it down on the stairs while changing it. Since its electric you need an outlet and a long enough extension cord to use it. You need to turn it off and remove the intake tube if a big stick gets stuck in the intake. All in all so easy to use anyone can use it but more than powerful enough to do the job.

I have a big yard, so logically, I was tempted to go with a gas operated blower. The toro can't be compared to a gas blower, but it certainly performs a very decently and I am definitely not regretting my purchase. In fact, I am glad I didn't get a gas operated one, specifically because of the vacuum function. Vacuuming, no matter if gas or electric, will take a long time, the toro is not too heavy, but after 3 hours of vacuuming I could feel numbness in my arms and slight back pain (you are holding the bag plus the vacuum). I can only image what it would feel like to on top of that hold a gas backpack. If you are wondering what 3 hours of vacuuming with the toro is, look at attached pictures. The pictures don't do justice though, it has been very wet this past few weeks, I was able to blow all those leave on wet grass and also vacuum them while still slightly wet. I did get about 10 jams because of how wet the leaves were, but they were easy to clear.

Recently became a new home owner, and along with that, have found out that there is (and will be for quite some time) a steady stream of purchases for "house things". Some of those "house things" have been GOOD purchases.. Others? Well.. not so good. Anyhow.. I quickly realized that due to the large tree lined front and back yards surrounding my house, a leaf blower was going to be one of those "house things". I am very impressed with the power of this blower. With the power dial set only 1/4 of the way, I was able to easily blow all of the little helicopters off of my back patio. Then at about half speed, was able to blow them into a pile onto the grass. After a nice pile had accumulated, I quickly converted blower, to vac n' mulch mode.. And away she went! VACing, and mulching...Mulching and VACing.. Afterwards, I held the bag over my 55 gal Rubbermaid trash can (another purchased "house thing") unzipped, and WOOSH! Empty! Couldn't have been easier, and honestly, those helicopters are a pain to sweep! So glad to own this blower/VAC. Great purchase!

OK, so I usually don't hand out many 5 star reviews, but this one gets it. First off I was always a "2 cycle engine" kind of guy when it came to my outdoor lawn equipment. Last year I purchased a brand new gas powered leaf blower and it worked like a charm ONCE. The company wouldn't help out, and of course it was "THE CUSTOMER" fault. Any way I decided to go out on a limb and test the waters so to speak on this electric leaf blower/vac. So I live on 5 wooded acres in upstate NY, and this year it seems that the leaves all fell at once, during a three day period of rain. So my lawn was just covered in leaves. I plug this thing in and well all I can say is YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Plenty of power to blow the leaves/pine needles/acorns off my lawn. Even at half power it is plenty to clean the debris. This cut my time in half, I didn't have to stop to fill up the gas tank, then have the thing flood trying to pull start it, just plug it in and go. I guess my "2 cycle engine" days are in the past when it comes to outdoor lawn equipment. I would give the VAC about a 4 star, the metal impaler is a plus, and it does vacuum up the leaves, it does get clogged up, but it's easy enough to clear.

I bought my first Toro Blower/Vac in 2011. I have been very pleased with this product. As a leaf vacuum, it picks up just about everything (except oak acorns) and very seldom clogs. I've had other vacs that clogged up constantly, causing me to spend more time unclogging than vacuuming! This device is very well made. The variable speed feature is nice, it's easy to change from vac to blow, the metal impeller is bulletproof, the plastics hold up, and it's reasonably quiet. Although my 2011 unit is still working great after 6 years of heavy use, it's showing some signs of wear and tear so I decided to buy another one just like it while Toro is still making the same model. They've changed the bag design a little. The new one has a zipper on the bottom so it's easier to empty. The new and old bags are interchangeable. The old bag seems to be a little more robust than the new one ... I had a premature zipper failure. The only thing about this product that I'd change is to add a plastic 'bumper' to the bottom of the bag. The bag drags on the ground while vacuuming so it tends to wear a hole at the lowest point. I have a lot of rock patio and sidewalk area so that's a problem for me and I've gone through several bags over the years. There's a shoulder strap for keeping the bag off the ground but I prefer not to use it. Overall, 5 stars for being my most-used garden tool for over 6 years.

Purchased this blower/vac for the incredibly large amount of leaves that are on my property. I have used the vacuum part the most, and really pleased with how many leaves it picks up. It doesn't do great with these huge 12" leaves I have, as they tend to get stuck or not suck up at all, but does great with oak leaves, and even picked up pine needles. It seems to spit out anything it does not like (i.e .moss chunks that fall off the roof, small rocks). I can even use it over my flowerbeds, and it picks up just the leaves and not the dirt. It amazes me how well it mulches the leaves down. I have limited space in my yard debris can, and this helps compact the leaves down so I can fit an incredible amount in the can. Definitely make sure you have a good extension cord, as it does not come with more than approximately 6 inches of cord. The blower works great as well, but I really think the vacuum part is the most useful feature.

The blower is good and strong, and the variable speed is a welcome feature - this thing will blow the paint off my house! (Yeah, I need to paint my house!). The vacuum works pretty darned good. It's not magic like I hoped. Other people recommended that you pile up your leaves, then consume the pile with the vacuum. This is a great strategy! I was able to dispatch 70 pounds of sycamore leaves, small twigs and seed pods in about a half hour, with much less labor (and no bagging!) than doing it with a rake. The mulching really does grind up the stuff quite nicely, reducing the volume by 70-85%. As others have noted, the connection between the canvas collector bag and the fitting leaks a bit, blowing dust from the junction. A bit of duct tape fixed this. The bag itself is sturdy and effective, and very easy to empty into my yard waste bin with the bottom zipper. The leaky bag/fitting junction is also sturdy - it just leaked a bit before taping. Overall, this thing is well worth the money, and saves a huge amount of labor!

Toro 51619 Ultra Electric Blower Vac, 250 mph, Red Well my old toro finally gave out after about at least 10 yrs, probally would had lasted longer if i wouldn't have been dropping it out of hand to the ground since i am a tall person,LOL, anyways it is about the same exact unit with just a few minor changes such instead of a 2 speed switch it is now a variable speed switch ( hope it last) which is okay but i actually would have preferred the old style better, and have a metal impeller on this one to mulch leaves my old one was plastic but never had a problem with the plastic one. have used the new one twice now for long period of time and also used the mulcher bag, works great but it is a hassle to use as it is kind of cumberson with the bag hanging down, i seen a Black and Decker( actually i dont like the Black and Decker tools) unit with a back pack bag which would be a lot easier to use if your going to mulch as you vacuum the leaves up but i just get all the leaves in one big pile them attach the bag and then mulch them so i dont have to lug the bag around makes it a lot easier... plenty of power with this unit so just buy it and dont listen to any of the bad reviews..

I can't believe I spent years sweeping up leaves and dirt around the yard before investing in this blower and vac. I've not used the vacuum function or the gutter accessory I bought with this yet, but if they are anything like the power of this blower, I'm sure I'll be 100% satisfied. So easy to use, and very powerful. I was blowing dirt out from between bricks, and it actually blew off the corner of a brick! It gets out dirt in my yard from places I didn't even know there was dirt. I love that it's electric, too, since it's a simple plug and use. Just make sure you get a long extension cord and roller for the cord so you can get to all sides of your yard. Turning it on is a simple twist of a switch, which also sets the level of the blower. It does get loud at the highest level, but you'll be so pleased blasting all the leaves and dirt away that you won't mind. Definitely my favorite yard tool now. I was looking at a more powerful version of Toro that cost more, but on the blower side, I can't imagine getting needing more than this unless you have to shred a bunch of leaves, which I don't. I just scoop the leaves into the green recycle bin. You won't regret buying it.
