Now THIS is INSTANT Set-Up! I was able to set this up in ten minutes and it was FANTASTIC owing to the ease of use. Watch YouTube videos on its setup. They aren't contrived, it really is that easy straight out of the bag. The unit is self contained and the only things extra are guylines and stakes which really should be used on shelters of this type if you don't want it blowing away. I was shorted one guyline and will reach out to the manufacturer for a replacement. I received one extra stake. The stakes are the plastic type and I'll be replacing them with metal stakes and also some sand stakes. And so, first impressions are very good. Given the design, I fully expect this to sway vigorously in strong winds which is fine by me because like a tent, it will bend with the wind rather than being ripped apart from the rigidity of the frame. *Really* well done design. The parts and materials are all very good quality. The zipper is very good quality and large. Any heavier of a material and it would have been too heavy and unwieldy for me. As it is, I can definitely handle this bag. Speaking of, the storage bag is a mid-to-light canvas. I'll likely wrap the unit in something for travel, perhaps a light blanket. Speaking of travel, it will likely need to be secured on the roof because it is 6 feet long. I've not measured it out inside the SUV yet but I'm guessing it's not going to fit. That said, if the length is what is preventing you from purchasing it, FIND A WAY to get it on your roof because it's worth it. If you have read my other camping gear reviews you'll know I'm only 5'3". In order to be able to pull down the ceiling, I took the advice from a YouTube video and attached a sturdy strand of cloth to the ceiling hub before pushing it up. Glad I did because there was no way I would have been able to reach that sucker and so keep that in mind if you cannot comfortably reach 7 feet in the air. This unit is large. It is more than ample for me and my dog and will be able to fit many guests as well or a standard sized picnic table. What I wasn't aware of before purchasing is that there are large grommets at the bottom of each of the corners where additional stakes can be set down. It looks like they thought of everything, their design team should be congratulated and I couldn't be more pleased. I'll update the review after its first flight next weekend and again at the end of the month on an extended stay on Assateague Island. 2019-05-19 Update Figured I would give an update since it's the season for purchasing for many. Everything I wrote in the above review still stands. I was able to fit this in my Chevy Equinox after all - and with a ton of other gear as well. In complete frankness, this is the best screened room I've ever seen. First use was over an extended weekend at a campground. It POURED the entire time. And because I had also purchased the matching window covers for this unit, my dog and I stayed completely dry from above and on all sides. I also had puchased the large, stowable grass mats for this. And those kept us from getting muddy on our feet. The trip itself was a cluster give the sudden and unexpected storms and I'm really thankful I had this shelter because the tent would have been a utter mess from mud. Cleanup is a breeze with a hose and a soft brush. I really can't say enough good things about this shelter. Ive also set it up in the yard and it's a great escape from skeeters and such. If I were to need to purchase another shelter, this is the only thing I will buy from here on out.

Easy setup. This is not one of those, if it's too good to be true it's probably not! It is really easy to set up. We had it up while camping and a bad storm came in. It had high winds and lots of rain. The water was about 8 inches inside the Clam. It held up like a champ! We used the original stakes that came with it and they held it down. It's light and super easy and fast to set up

Just came back from a 3 night camp trip. Our campsite did not have trees to provide shade and privacy. My wife said it would've been miserable without the Clam Screen House. The screen house provided shade, privacy, and protection from the flying bugs. We had the screen house over the picnic table. I set it up in an open area, then had my wife help me maneuver it over the picnic table. The night I received the screen house from Amazon, I tested it and was able to set it up for the first time in a couple minutes, in the dark. After setting it up once, I was able to put it up and take it down in less than a minute. When in the storage bag, the stowed tent is about 6 feet long. To transport it, I had to strap it to a fence board on the roof rack of my Prius. A few notes: - Images in the instructions sheets do not have a lot of contrast so details are hard to make out. Watch the video on set-up and take-down in the Clam product images above. Be sure to get familiar with how the cinch clips work for staking down the tie lines (not in videos). - Stake down the bottom of the left door/screen panel. It makes it easier to open and close the zip door with one hand. - If you are using your Screen House on hard dry ground, get the 10 pack 10" steel spike tent pegs. The 7-shaped tent stakes provided will bend when trying to hammer it into hard ground. - Get some lashing straps or cordage to contain all the extra material when it is folded. It makes it easier to get it into the bag. I used a rope that doubles as a clothes line.

After reading the previous reviews, we were a little apprehensive about setting this thing up. I was sure we were going to get one of the ones that were packaged inside out and we'd have to try to pack it back in the box and send it back. We already knew that if it had to go back we would just lay the carrying bag next to it in the box because NOTHING ever goes back into from where it came, right? I was also sure that it was just going to take forever to set it up. I know the video says 45 seconds or so but, how realistic is that really? Well, hubs unzipped the bag and stood there looking at the contents thereof. He had that look, you know the one, it's that WTF look. He squatted down and looked up at me and said, "Houston, we have a problem." I naturally thought he split his pants or worse... No, no such luck. "It's just as we feared," he said. I moved closer as he was removing it from the bag, immediately seeing the cause of his consternation. I saw the seams and stitching that normally go on the inside! Damn it! The thing WAS inside out. How could this have happened to us? I mean we are good people. We pay our taxes and tithe appropriately. We donate time and goods to those less fortunate. We rescue animals, for Pete's sake! What could we have done to have the cosmos turn against us? As I began to bend down to get a closer look, he began to pull it from the bag. As he did a light bulb went on over his head. He looked at me with a silly grin and MY light bulb came on too. Reaching down to help we removed it from the bag and (shhh here's the secret) we turned it over so that the seams faced downward! He then grabbed the thingies on the side of each screened panel then went inside and pushed up on the center thingy and in less than two minutes our new Clam was ready for us. This product is nothing short of ingenious! So easy to set up a caveman could do it!

I read all of the reviews and looked at many different brands. This screen room is more expensive than others, but it is relatively easy for one person to set up and that was the number one reason I purchased it. I set it up the day it arrived and was satisfied with the material it is made of and the craftsmanship. I had read one review that said the screen material was thin and easily torn, believe me, this is not true on my purchase. I put it up inside out the first time and it took me forever and a lot of tugging to get it in the correct position. (Maybe I should start reading the directions first) So the tent took a good bit of abuse from being installed inside out and then corrected and I had no tears or runs or torn seams. I am however going to purchase some seam sealer because I did a lot of tugging. I purchased this from the Amazon Warehouse and received $50 off because the original box was torn. The tent was in new condition and the box had been taped. I would buy this tent again in a heartbeat. I am very happy with my purchase. I also bought the panels to install on the walls for privacy and a wind break. It is not heavy to lift for me, but is cumbersome because of the length. It comes in a bag made of the tent material along with stakes and tie out strings.

We had a 4 day weekend planned with my wife's family, and a brand new Clam screen house to setup and use. On our first night of the trip, a very large storm with heavy winds knocked down a large pine tree which fell directly on to the screen house setup in the yard. At first glance, I thought we had just lost our new tent. As I inspected the tent with the tree on it, I noticed no holes in the fabric or the screen. Some of the poles were bent but appeared to be intact. After removing the tree I was amazed that the tent simply popped back up as if nothing was wrong. There were three poles with damage, but the rest of the tent is as good as new. I am simply amazed at the durability of the poles, fabric and construction of this tent. This thing is built to last! I am still a proud owner of the Clam screen house!

I am glad to be able to report that I am one of the ones who can assemble this screen house without any problems. I was nervous after reading many of the reviews here, but it was very easy. You should definitely read the instructions. I also purchased the side panels. They work great. I'll flesh out this review later. UPDATE: Of course it rained the first day after getting this set up. Just a note: It's not completely waterproof, although the tight mesh weave of the fabric doesn't let a lot of moisture in and the center seems to be double walled (which you can see from the inside, but not the outside) so if you have anything that can't withstand any moisture whatsoever, move it to the center of your shelter. I don't know if I'll spray it with anything to make it more waterproof, I'll think about that. Oh, and the instructions recommend two people to set this up, but I did it by myself. Of course I'm a relatively healthy (knock on wood) 62 year old.

I really didn't want to buy this. I kept trying to talk myself out of it, but after watching several video demonstrations of how easy it was to put up and how cool it looked...I just couldn't resist. We've used a 10 x 10 Coleman sun shelter for a few years now and it has worked well for us. It has built in LED lights, which are very cool, and I purchased the mosquito net walls that were made for it as well. We've used it for special events, yard sales, and camping. Although it has performed well over the years, it is a bit of a pain to set up (especially when adding the net walls around it), it's very heavy, and it takes up a lot of packing space in the back of the truck. Now, I don't plan to throw the ole' Coleman away. I'm just going to reserve it for events at home and take this Clam on the road. This is unbelievably easy to set up. I can do it by myself and it takes less than a minute. It's bigger than the Coleman, giving us a 12 x 12 area to relax in and it provides plenty of space for a table and chairs. It comes in an oversized bag which gives you plenty of room to pack it away. I really hate it when tents and other such things come in bags that are almost impossible to pack them back into. When in the bag, the Clam shelter is definitely longer than the Colman shelter but it has a slimmer profile and is much easier to lift and carry. The bag also has a shoulder sling and I can easily carry it over my shoulder with no problems. When setting it up the first time, I recommend paying close attention to some of the demonstration videos that can be seen online to avoid some of the problems that I've read about in other customer's reviews. I've read that some mistakenly tried to put it up in a "wrong side out" fashion which resulted in some very confusing situations. I try to think of it like "planting a tree". The shelter's central "roof hub" is what rests on the ground while the majority of the tent fabric is up in the air. You just let it open up and blossom like flower in a sense. Then, you just walk to each wall and pop it out with the final step being to walk inside to lift the roof up. It really is quite simple. Now, I saw plenty of videos of people putting it up, but I couldn't find anything about taking it down. I just did everything in reverse obviously and it also was very simple process. The shelter is fairly well made and you the company has put some extra features in to make it more durable. The eyelets that are used to pull the walls out are made of metal and there is extra fabric in the corners which protects those vulnerable areas from tearing. There is also an extra layer of fabric securing the area around the central hub for durability and increasing water resistance. The one thing that I did notice, however, is that the needle holes for the stitching are quite noticeable in the corners making these areas the most vulnerable for water. While the shelter doesn't claim to be waterproof, I will certainly be adding some seam sealer to these areas in order to make it's "resistance" a bit more effective. The shelter does come with small plastic stakes, but I plan on using some longer and more heavy duty galvanized tent stakes to provide extra security. Once the shelter is up, it's quite lightweight enough for you and a helper to position it over a picnic table. I've set it up in the yard twice now (once to check it out and once to show a family member how cool it was) and we had no problem positioning it. I also purchased a set (3 panels in each set) of the privacy/wind walls developed by Clam specifically for this shelter as well. They also go on very easy and are great to have. I plan on setting it up one more time to add the seam sealer to the corners and then it will have it's first run as we take it camping in a few weeks. This shelter will certainly help to reduce the amount of set up time and I am looking forward to using it. Update: 8/19/16 - Just got back from a week long camping trip and this Clam performed very well. We go to a family campground up in the mountains of North Carolina that accommodates both tent and RV campers. We stay in tents but everyone is always walking around and checking other campsites out. The Clam certainly got a lot of attention and I had at least three people (2 who travel in RVs) personally came up and asked questions about the shelter. The folks in the RVs usually sit and eat outside in the evenings and this particular shelter drew their attention because of how easy it is to set up and take down. I put some seam sealer on some of the areas that I had talked about previously in the review and it didn't leak a drop during two light rains and one moderate one. I didn't use the wind screens that I had purchased for it because it was still kind of warm up in the mountains and I didn't want to trap extra heat inside. The plastic stakes that came with the shelter would of been useless in the hard ground where I was at. I was glad that I brought some extra galvanized stakes with me. The wind picked up right before one of the rains and it pushed two of the wall panels in. I ended up using some guy lines around the metal eyelets on the wall panels of the shelter and securing them down with some additional stakes. There were no problems after that. I was very pleased with the performance and it sure made set up and take down a little bit easier.

I don't buy anything anymore without checking the online reviews first, so I wanted to make sure I gave this awesome tent a review. I have a very pleasant back yard that I frequently wish had a gazebo or screened porch to enjoy fully. Since I really can't afford that right now, I have just done without. I put this screen tent up on my patio over my table and chairs and have enjoyed my backyard mosquito-free. I leave the zipper open a little bit and my cats and dog come sleep in here free from attacks from over protective birds. This tent really is very easy to put up, as long as you make sure the roof is on top before you push the side walls out. I purchased the wind panels as well and was able to enjoy the rain storm without getting wet. I know most people purchase this for camping, but if the thought of hanging out in your backyard without mosquitos sounds appealing, this tent is awesome!
