I have had this Toro for about a week and I think it deserves five stars. It is very powerful in both the blow and suction modes. I have been testing it on leaves and pine needles that are dry, and it performs very well. I don't think I would attempt to mulch wet leaves or pine needles as they would most likely clump together. For those contemplating a purchase, keep in mind this is a large, relatively heavy blower. It is well balanced, but most will tire after an hour or so of constant use. The best feature of this blower is its power. On higher speeds it easily moves large piles of pine needles or leaves. I am not sure of the value of the pulsating nozzle. I think it would be useful for removing leaves from a walkway. I think that the two focusing nozzles are much more suited to my purposes.

I bought a house last fall that is surrounded by maple, oak, and some sort of pointy leaf tree. I think that the previous owners fertilized the trees with Rogaine. Every day, I would spend about 3 hours raking to have a nice leaf free lawn to only wake up the next morning with a yard full of leaves. Had the 40 foot long 4 foot deep pile of leaves not been at the road from the previous days endeavors, I would have thought that someone had taken the time to put the leaves back in my yard. My loving wife felt really bad for me and suggested I look for a leaf blower. I did some research and decided that I would give the Toro a try. I did already have an old blower (Black and Decker) that I had used for years to mulch pine needles and pine cones. The impeller was pretty chewed up. Once I opened up the box and put it together I plugged it in and turned on the switch. It was amazingly powerfully. My wife was extremely impressed also at the speed I could knock her pictures off of the wall. She was so impressed that all she could say was, "take that outside!". I would highly recommend this leaf blower. The only thing I would change would be the way it vacuums and mulches. I would prefer that the vacuum tube stuck straight out like the blower does. Not a deal breaker, but it would be handy.

All this and on a cord too!. ( yes.. that was snark.. but i really do love it) I had hoped to use this to vacuum leaves from my beds that have bark mulch. I CAN!. It barely picks any mulch up. I turn it off sbout every 15 seconds.. let bark bits that were floating halfway up to fall back. Immense time saver since im not raking at all. Bag empties into a lawn leaf bag in a wagon or wjeelbarrow. ..and leaves are so well chipped the bag is almost too heavy. No more stepping in to mash leaves! My kids are more likely to help too. They hated smelling like fuel after mowing, blowing, weedeating, etc. Now i leave it plugged in under the rear deck to pickup leaves yhat keep piling up by the back door. The bag often ladts more than a week. Oh yeah.. great blower too. Gets leaves out of the garage in a snap and no fuel odor.

This is a great product. I have only had it a couple of weeks, but in that time have put it through its paces. The blower has several attachments for various uses, but I'm a bit of an extremist I suppose, and I wanted to see just how powerful this thing is, so I attached the focal tube and was able to blow the tiniest leaves out of my dense, deep grass with ease. I also attacked some matted-down wet grass clippings that had accumulated around the edge of the yard and they were quickly unglued and eventually vacuumed. Speaking of vacuuming, this thing is a beast. The mulcher is strong and solid and it appears to me that only a ninny will be able to break it or even get something jammed badly. The variable power settings have allowed me to vacuum leaves and grass clippings out of our mulch beds without picking up mulch or rocks. On a few occasions a small stone found its way into the impeller and clattered around a bit, but when that happened, I turned the vacuum off and the stone just fell out. I have been successful at mulching green and dry leaves and stems and even unintended occasional small sticks as big around as a pencil. I am VERY pleased with this purchase and will report any further findings as I use it more. Consumer Reports loves this gizmo, btw. Go out and getcha one today! UPDATE: March 2019. Have used this blower/vacuum extensively and have had nothing but success. The vacuum is a beast. Occasionally I get too aggressive with leaves and small twigs, but when that happens, I turn the vacuum off and whatever is clogging falls right out and it’s back to work. This is a workhorse. I may purchase a cordless blower/vac next fall, but it will be hard to beat the Toro.

Absolute power house! This is about the 51621 model. My gas powered leaf blower/vacuum broke so I thought I would try an electric one. This one beats the gas one hands down! Very powerful. It is heavy but solid. I like the many hand holds allowing for different holding positions. The mulch created is very small, See pictures to get an Idea. I am very satisfied with this device so far.

I guess it’s been a while since I purchased a new leaf blower! I purchased this refurb from the amazon market and it arrived one day early, just in time to clean my front yard of dead mesquite and Palo Verdi leaves that accumulated over the past three months. What a power horse!! 40 gallons of dead leaves and twigs and my hands aren’t vibrating uncontrollably, my legs aren’t cooked, and I don’t smell like exhaust fumes. Amazing!! The variable speed is incredible so I can adjust the level suction to avoid vacuuming up all my decomposed granite, while still clearing the dead vegetation. At full power I could probably clear my yard of all the rocks! The collection bag is substantial and very convenient to empty while still slung on my shoulder, and the carrying position is very comfortable. The unit is quite light, and while I’ll be careful not to drop it (because clearly, it’s plastic, and not the must durable from what I can tell) it, I feel it will last me some time. I love that I don’t need to mix oil, or fill gas cans, or anything like it. Yes there’s a cord, but volts to HP I wouldn’t trade it... Blowing power is pretty remarkable, I haven’t tried the various tips for more powerful stream, or variable side to side nozzle yet. I’ll be sure to update my review as my experience progresses.

Toro 51621 UltraPlus Leaf Blower arrived this morning. I used it for a couple of hours. I have to say WOW. It performs way ahead of my expectations. I've had several of these little monsters and the only feature I used was the blower. While I was using them I thought, how much better is this than a raking. Just a little. This one is far better than a rake. It is a tad heavy but that is because it is built better than almost all consumer utility products. The metal impeller probably accounts for quite a bit of the weight but it is worth every ounce. Toro engineers did a great job of balancing the motor and impeller because the vibration really is minimal. That is my top interest because I have arthritis in my hands and the old blowers and weed trimmers caused me a great deal of pain. Not this one. The included oscillating attachment works better than I could imagine. I thought it would be a feature joke. Nope, it works quite well. Very clever guys. I thought the variable speed would be a feature joke too. Nope again. I have 10 feet of outside landscape steps to the driveway next to a big oak that likes to keep those stairs full of leaves. I turned the blower speed to about half. The old blower cause half of the leaves to rise and fall behind me. Not with lower velocity. Less dust to eat too. Sounds like I work for Toro. As a mostly retired engineer, I like it when the engineers win over the marketeers and get to deliver an excellent product. Toro has had their share of losers but they hit this one out of the park. Feb 6,2017. We got 5 inches of snow last night. I used this blower to clean off the outside stairway. Easier than a shovel and it cleans right down to the bone. The high speed air gets into places you could not shovel. I parked my car outside because the garage has stuff from a project on the floor. I used this thing to clean the car. It did a great job on windows and mirrors and won't scratch the paint. Of course, it will only work on powder snow, not the heavy, sticky stuff. If you know who Alton Brown is, I'm like him, I really dislike single purpose tools.

I am a 63 year old woman with several trees that drop thousands of pine needles in my driveway and I live in Seattle where it's wet most of the time. Three strikes against me for a leaf blower! So I was hesitant about buying this. However, I purchased the Toro UltraPlus Leaf Blower Vacuum because it was electric, affordable and fairly light to carry. To my delight, this leaf blower works great! It blows over the pine needles on my concrete driveway into nice piles. Of course, it won't blow wet needles or needles caked in mud but it does a very good job with the dry needles, pinecones and leaves. The vacuum works great too! It sucks up the piles of needles into this nice bag that hooks up to the blower and has a belt to hang over my shoulder. It's really easy to empty the bag because it has a zipper on the bottom. The blower and vacuum have attachments that are pretty easy to figure out and put on/take off. There's two handles to hold the blower so it's easy to maneuver. All in all, I'm very happy with this new "toy" and my only regret is that I didn't buy it sooner.

I am impressed with this blower. Two years ago we spent $1500 to have our leaves removed (yes our neighbor has a large number of trees). I decided to try doing it myself last fall. and purchased the Toro Leaf Blower Vacuum, bundles of leaf bags and a long extension cord. I'm a 70 year old grandmother, so the family was not optimistic that I would be successful. Started using the unit as soon as the leaves started to fall and ran it every couple of days through November. It did a beautiful job and the shredded leaves protected my plants from the harsh winter weather. The ones I didn't use were given to a neighbor to bank his house or became compost. The spring I again used it to remove the leaves that had blown into the bushes during the winter and to blow off the sidewalks. It has been easy to use and really worked. Highly recommend.
