I have bought my daughter a few different rolling backpacks. They tend to have the same faults: 1. they tend to "flip" over very easily, then the kid will drag them along for a few feet before stopping to flip them back. This leads to... 2. After being dragged along the pavement, the a hole wears into the fabric on the bottom of the backpack opposite the wheels, allowing things to fall out. 3. The "feet" on the base opposite the wheels that allow them to stand up tend to fall off, so then you can't stand the backpack up. 4. After a few weeks, the retractable handle starts to stick and it practically takes an act of Congress to raise and lower it. Wow! What a difference this backpack is!! 1. The wheels are bigger and more stable than other we have tried. My daughter can wheel this bad boy across a driveway with a significant slope on her way to the bus stop without it tipping over. 2. The base of the backpack is encased in hard plastic, so even when she is being a brat and drags it along the wrong way, the plastic holds up to the punishment 3. Instead of weak little "feet" screwed into the frame, the feet on this are part of the molded plastic base and they are not going anywhere. Having it standing makes it so much easier for my daughter to dig through the horrid pit of crumpled paper and pulverized Cheese-its looking for her homework. 4. The handle is so easy to raise and lower, and it still works. I am waiting for the other shoe to drop on this backpack as this thing is too good to be true.

We love this rolling backpack. Our rowdy 9 year girl has had this since 2013 an it still looks new. the wheels are still in one piece and the handle has not broken or disconnected. This bag has been through alot. She swims competitively, does ballet, she dances, the plays soccer ans this bag has been pulled all over. she has ran it done steps, OMG the poor bag. The hardest thing is keeping the exterior clean since you cant machine wash it, but that is why we bough the dark garden purple one. So you use some mild soapy water and a brush and you are good to go. The only reason we are getting her another one is because she is older now and might want to choose something that matches her style. And I mean most kids get new bag each new school year, she has had this for 3 years and she does not complain. I am buying again, and would recommend this bag

~You absolutely have to tuck in the straps (all the time) when you are using this bag to roll.~ My daughter used this backpack all through fourth and fifth grade without a problem. The compartment in the back is huge! You totally could take this as a piece of luggage on an airplane for a short trip. The bag is a bit heavy without anything in it. My daughter primarily rolled this along while walking to school and (against my wishes) offered rides to her little sisters on the back too. When she wanted to ride her bike she used the straps. If you plan on rolling this backpack a lot, you absolutely have to tuck in the straps (every time) as the straps are longer than the back of the bag when adjusted, so they do tend to drag on the ground. After about a couple weeks of this (if never tucked in) the straps will break or develop holes, snap etc. Also depending on how much it's thrown straight onto the ground and dragged around (getting beat up, and not being taken care of) the mesh bottle pocket on the side can develop a hole or holes. As I mentioned before, the compartment on the back is pretty large. My daughter had no problem with fitting in her large zip around trapper keeper 3" binder filled with all the school stuff. Plus she fit in a jacket, a pencil box, a lunch bag etc. The telescoping handle never once broke or stopped working. The wheels never once broke or stopped working (even with giving rides on the back to other kids). The fabric was beautiful, a unique print, and no one else at the school had the same bag. (Out of 350 other kids) I think I should mention that we live in California. So we did not experience extreme weather conditions with this bag. (No snow, driving rain, freezing temps) After the first year it still looked totally brand new. The wear and tear did not start to show until after the second year, (and my daughter is not easy on her school supplies.) I felt the price difficult to swallow at first for a backpack, but in the end getting two years of school out of this bag for us ended up being worth it. The one downside that I found, was that even collapsed with the hard bottom, this bag was spot clean only, and would not fit into my front loading washing machine. Perhaps there is a way to unzip and detach the inside lining, but I never figured that part out. Kind of a bummer because my daughter spilled something on the inside of the bag, and it grew mold, and I couldn't get it out. We primarily ended up getting her a new Jansport big student backpack for middle school only because she needed something that could fit inside a locker, and this with the awesome hard base was just too wide. All that being said, I'm considering buying one for all four of my kids for our trips across the US by plane this summer. When used with packing cubes, you could easily be able to fit in all the clothes you need for a week, plus small travel toiletries, and wash your clothes when needed. I figure these would be so much easier than duffles they carry, or hard side suitcases that would be too large for them, and really difficult for them to get in and out of the over head bins. They could also use a mini backpack or crossbody bag for the airplane activities. Not sure if I could use the same bag myself, it would definitely be a challenge, but perhaps that's just what I need to downsize my junk. Don't pay more than $50 for this bag. I know there is another place here on Amazon that sells them for almost $60, and that's just silly when you can get it right here for almost twenty dollars less with the same prints. (Actually more prints than in the other area)

I have to take the city bus to and from my college campus, I'm a student and a tutor, so I usually have a lot of books and supplies. This backpack handles all of my things, rolls quitely, and looks very nice! My back is never sore from having to lug around a heavy bag all day. Its high quality and durable. I would suggest this back anyone. I have zero complaints. I hardly ever use the straps to carry it, but they come in handy!

I originally purchased this backpack for my middle school aged son and he loved it, when I went back to school I traded my stair climbing back pack as it was to small to hold my boots and laptop. I am not easy on my backpacks and generally have to by one at the beginning of year school year for my college need. Six months later my pack is going strong while the $60 fancy pack I bought and trade my son fell over and bent the telescoping handle rendering it useless. Needless to say we bought another of this model. It made it the rest of the year and still looks like new so he will be using in next fall. On another note my pack has held up to rigorous punishment and while straps I never use have taken so wear and tear the pack and wheels will be in good shape and enter school with me this fall. 100% recommend. I find the handle is great too no stopping or bending it is designed with taller people in mind. I do think those over 6ft may have to bend a bit.

I bought this bag because I was a nursing student and books get so heavy! I love having a bag with wheels! It's pretty big! I used trapper keepers with my textbooks inside them and could fit 2-3 plus my laptop in here. I also had goggles, a pencil case, and other things in the front pouches. I love the fun designs they offer, I got poppy pansy and get sooo many compliments on how it makes people instantly happy because of the bright colors and designs!

This backpack was fantastic for my daughter through the entire year of 5th grade and now happily using it again for 6th grade. It's sturdy and versatile and probably the best back pack we've ever purchased. I usually purchase from Lands End but their quality has gone down and the price of a rolling backpack is $99 versus this Sunrise version for anywhere from $31-$55. My daughter loved the rolling feature for the first half of the school year and then easily switched to using it as a back pack later in the year. It holds a lot of school items plus jackets and other junk she stuffs into it. It washes up very nicely too. Now I am purchasing one for my other daughter going into 4th grade as she has always wanted one since she saw her sister's. There are so many fun designs to choose from unlike LE. I highly recommend this backpack for any child that's hard on their stuff and wants to have choices.

J World New York backpacks are all the rage at my kids' elementary school, and I'm glad they are. I bought one for each of my two kids last year, and two more this year, and they're the first backpacks that have ever lasted through the year. I could have even used last year's again, except they wanted new designs. They never got broken or damaged, all of the wheels and zippers and even the water bottle mesh on the sides held up all year, and that never happens! Totally worth the money because it doesn't have to be replaced despite getting beat up all year. The only thing that has ever happened is that the fabric faded due to all-day sun exposure -- they kids leave their bags outside their classrooms and they just cook in the sun all day. Will buy one for each kid every year!

This backpack is great for a lower grade elementary school age child. It is absolutely beautiful!! It would also be a great day bag or sleepover bag as well. The telescopic handle has two heights to pull from which is great for my 7 year old who needs the handle a little shorter. I will say this back pack would not be (IMO) ok for anyone in Jr. High or older, and possibly even upper elementary 4-5. It just isn’t big enough. I really wish they made this pattern in the next size up backpack the company had, but for now this will due for my second grader. I bought this because my kids will have to come to work with me during the new online distance learning school year, and they will have to “carry” everything with them- lunches and all. This solves the backbreaking problem we would have faced without wheels. Overall very pleased. Delivery was much quicker than anticipated and my daughter is stoked!

There was a time when a nice leather handbag was enough to carry everything I needed to the office. The digital age has made that difficult since I now have to carry a few devices to and from the office that makes a shoulder bag (insufficient) or regular backpack (too heavy) problematic. This bag is GREAT. Sturdy, lots of pockets and places to put keys, phones, e-reader, laptop . . . you name it. It has a handle so you can slide down the telescope handle when boarding public transportation. You also have the option of pulling out the straps and wearing it like a regular backpack. A word of caution though: if you're pulling this bag behind you in pouring rain, the water will soak through. I solved that issue by putting everything in a plastic bag and then putting it in the backpack. It's a small inconvenience for an otherwise very useful product. There was a woman sitting across from me on the subway with the identical backpack (I saw the JWorld New York logo on the telescope handle) so this is a popular item.
