The answer for high altitude electric canning!
We love our Chard pressure canner! We live in Cheyenne Wy at 6,200ft elevation and most electric canners are not safe to use at altitude because of the way they function, but because the Chard unit has two different weighted pressure regulators you can use this unit up to 10,000ft above sea-level in accordance with the Ball canning guide! This is huge! The capacity of this unit is huge too! It makes it hard to find a good place to keep it as it doesn't fit on our counter, under the cabinets, and it takes up a large portion of a cabinet if you put it away. Luckily its not terribly heavy, so bringing it in and out of a cabinet isn't a huge problem. This unit makes pressure canning so easy. The instructions that come with it are a little difficult to follow as it advocates two different methods of pressure canning, one simple and quick and one more akin to the lengthy process and cool down I'm used to, but still much simpler because you don't have to manage temperatures, it tells you when its ready for the next step with a beep! It also helps keep the house cooler because the unit is insulated so your heat doesn't run out into the kitchen, this also means less energy goes into making your products, which of course is more sustainable and cost effective. As a slow cooker this functions very well! As a pressure cooker, it seems to do very well too, though this is my first pressure cooker, so I am new to the process, but it sure can crank out a meal in no time! I wish I could buy a second liner so I could use the unit to cook different meal portions without having to clean the can in between. If I had space I wouldn't hesitate to buy another because it ability to can a harvest with this is so simplified compared to a stove top canner, pressure or water bath for that matter.

This thing is great, and easy to use.
This thing is great, and easy to use. I got it about two weeks ago and have already pressure canned about forty-five pounds of meat. I am getting ready to move cross country and decided to can all the meat in my freezer rather than worry about coolers and dry ice. This machine is very easy to use.

Wonderful!
Wonderful! I've used it every day for two weeks. I have cases of leftover soups and stews prepared and then canned in this cooker. I have found that it needs to be completely cooled between processes but once you learn that, it's a very small inconvenience. I would recommend this to anyone who likes to can but doesn't do it very often due to the mess and exhaustive process. I can set it and walk away. No watching gauges and clocks.

Easy to use
Very happy with Cary canner. As someone new to canning, I find this canner very easy to use. I have canned everything from jams and pinto beans to chicken breast with great results. My only complaint is the user manual, which is a little. vague. Beginners should find a good canning book to go with canner.

Just buy it now & be amazed!
We've used it strictly for pressure canning and water bath canning only & it hasn't skipped a beat! This pressure cooker/canner is so simple to use & it cuts so much mess, hassle, and time from canning. Some people have complained that it spits out an error code after 2 or 3 sessions but we were able to use it non-stop all day (maybe 10 sessions or more) and did not have a single problem. It is much larger that I anticipated from the pictures on the ad, but that is a good thing. A lot can fit in it at once, and cuts the process time in half or better. Not only does using this unit free up the stove for food prep, but it eliminates the chance of boiling water accidents, and keeps the temperature and humidity down in my home versus stovetop canning. The built-in safety features put you at ease about pressure cooking/canning, from the auto-locking lid under pressure to the little steam-condensation catcher on the back-Carey thought of everything! It's a MUST HAVE appliance even if you only plan to use it once or twice a year. EDIT: I'd like to also add that I saw a review on here regarding it being messy when you pressure can, and even after using it all day we did NOT have a mess like they had pictured in their review. During processing it hisses out steam from the bypass pressure vent and little water droplets sometimes build up and out a little bit, but none that make it out onto the lid or the countertop. There is a small clear capture canister mounted to the back of the lid. After all the pressure canning and canning we did in that picture, it didn't even fill all the way up. UPDATE: We've had this pressure cooker/canner for over 6 months now and we've gotten to use it for a variety of things. We've made bulk pressure-cooked chicken breast from frozen to completion in less than 10 minutes. We've made the most amazing pulled pork we've ever had in this thing. My only regret is not buying one of these years ago!

Highly recommend
To be honest, I have not used all the features of this appliance. I bought it mainly for it's canning abilities. As someone who use to can large quantities of food from our garden and needed to downsize this sounded like a good buy. I have not been disappointed. This makes canning so easy especially if you are dealing with small quantities. I absolutely love it and highly recommend. If the other features are as easy and have the same results I can clean out my small appliance cabinet. Second year of operation and no complaints!

This is pressure canning made easy! fill your jars
I don't know how I ever survived harvest season with out this. This is pressure canning made easy! fill your jars, enter the time recommended to process, put in 4 cups of water, close and hit start. Then all you have to do is listen for a beep, close the exhaust and then go on your way. More time with the family and no babysitting the canner!

My husband will pressure cool a whole chicken in
We have used this so much since we got it. My husband will pressure cool a whole chicken in,30 minutes, use the bones and some ingredients and put back in to make stock, take that out and clean it and put the stock in jars and can it. This is all done within a couple hours which is just amazing. We also used it for other things, ribs being one of them and they were the best ribs we have ever made.

I LOVE my Carey!
I LOVE this product! Pressure canning (which is the only thing I've done with it so far) has never been easier! Just as a note - I have an older home and have this plugged in to a surge protector. I was using it, and it shut itself off. After checking with some other canners in a facebook group, I utilized the surge protector, and have had zero problems since. Apparently the safety features of the Carey pick up on even slight fluctuations in power, and the surge protector rectifies that issue.

Pressure canning with disabilities.
I love my Carey Smart Pressure Canner - so far the only thing I've used it for is pressure canning, so I cannot speak of the other functions it has. I have Multiple Sclerosis and as my disease has progressed I've been unable to use my huge All American. I really miss my All American, however this Carey is FABULOUS. I'm so thankful that I can use it in my home and do not have to babysit it. Some might complain that it only does 4 quarts at a time, however I say 4 is better than NONE, and that's how much I was getting done prior to getting this electric canner. It has been a great blessing to me and has given me a small part of my life back that MS tried to take away. I have been using it for about 10 months now and have no complaints. I've canned all my usual things: beef, venison, chicken, bone broth, soup, stew, beans, and so on. No issues. I have a review on my youtube channel if you are interested - Heritage Homestead. Thanks!
