It works with my JBL Bluetooth speaker anywhere in my apartment, which is all I need it to do. I did have an issue at first with it only working within a few feet of my computer but Avantree customer support was really prompt (replied to my email sent at mid-night by 3am my time) with some troubleshooting steps and an offer to replace it if they didn't work. Turns out my USB 3 port that sits next to where this is plugged in isn't shielded very well and was causing interference, unplugging my flash drive from the USB 3 port immediately solved the issue, plugging the drive back in and the issues started again. I thought about giving 4 stars for that reason but given how fast their support tech got back to me, the fact that his is extremely small, and they aren't responsible for my case ports leaking current, I gave it 5 because it does work as advertised.

Works perfect to connect my Logitech K480 to my laptop. For those of you having issues with your bluetooth devices staying connected. I learned a tip that will stop that. It is not your keyboard or any other device causing it. It is in your settings. Go into device manager, bluetooth settings for whatever device you are trying to connect, double click on that device to bring up properties, select the power tab then uncheck the box that says "Allow this device to disconnect to save power" and you won't have that problem again. Don't return your device, just change your settings. It is not a defect in the device. Hope this helps someone.

This was the second Bluetooth dongle I had ordered from Amazon. The first being from another company which would not connect to any of my devices so I was a little skeptical about this one when at first it would only connect with my Alexa speakers. I have a Logitech MX 25 S Bluetooth mouse which connects to my MAC PC's and has buttons to allow it to be used on 3 different computers by just switching it over, but when I asked the software to search for it, it returned not found. I submitted a trouble ticket which resulted in a scheduled phone call from tech support the next day. After the call, I was referred to another tier of support for further help. I had been asked if I read the manual and I had really only glanced thru it and did not see anything that had I not already done. The next day I got another email which include a link to a guide I had not previously read and instructions to report if this did not help I should return it for a replacement. Turns out the guide showed in visual pictures step by step my exact mouse being connected to the software and it worked perfectly!!! This particular mouse has a completely different setup than my other bluetooth mice from Logitech. I am so grateful that support took the time to work with me on solving this issue! The Blue Soleil software that comes as a free download with the dongle is excellent! I was able to connect two of my Alexa speakers and two mice to the dongle and they both work flawlessly.

This is a great dongle for linux. I'm using it in an Ubuntu 16.04 box. Plugged it in and it just worked. Survives just fine though multiple suspend/standby cycles. Range is much better than the Iogear GBU521W6 that I also recently purchased. Mouse I have goes to sleep every 10 minutes, but it reconnects to the Avantree dongle within seconds. I've been disappointment with all of the Broadcom chipset based bluetooth dongles that I've tried with linux. I specifically purchased this dongle for the CSR chipset.

I really love this dongle! I've finally made it to getting rid (disabling actually) my internal laptop BT. I'm just so tired of its glitches and hassles. For my outdoor BT speaker I needed to repeat connect/disconnect cycle up to 4 times to hear something from the speaker. Some of those tries ended up with blue screens of death! Other BT devices like headphones required manually connecting although there was an option to connect automatically. Then parts of BT stack stopped starting on system boot. Glitches, glitches, glitches... Basta! Then came Avantree and Blue Soleil! Finally peace for my restless soul...

This works plug-in-play with Linux (I'm using Ubuntu 16.04). I used blueman to connect to my headphones with "High Fidelity Playback (A2DP Sink)". I'm disappointed that avantree does not officially support Linux since it works out of the box. I wrote to them and they said they were open to listing Linux as officially supported, and were very polite and prompt in responding. I suggest contacting them. They are interested in your experience on Linux. Was it also plug-and-play for you or did you have to do something special to set it up? If you would like a bluetooth chip with official Linux support, I suggest Panda bluetooth chip. It is also plug-and-play and they list that Linux is supported.

Perfect for my Bose qc35 under Windows 10. I tried another best sell usb Bluetooth adapter. Which works only for sound but have tons of noise in mic. This adapter show two Bose devices in Windows 10 playable devices make One of them as default play device. I guess one have a higher bandwidth so it's clear. So try both and make clear one as default device. After use about 1 weeks. I had two problems. And I managed to fix them. 1. My bluetooth device is missing after reboot. So I had to remove the device and and rescan and add the device back. After spend a lot of time, I figured out this is because the "bluetooth service" is run after "bluetooth support service". So have a wrong dependency. And this adapter used a very old microsoft generic driver. Solution is simple just disable the "bluetooth service", you don't need this service. This one is used for manage add and remove devices. Please see picture 1. for more information. 2. Another thing is there are 2 bose devices in playback. "bose hand-free" and "bose stereo". Make sure you set "bose stereo" as default playback device. "bose hand-free" is low bandwidth low quality device, as the name defined you can only get mono instead stereo. You should be happy to have a ready to use good quality hassle free bluetooth adapter Now. Good luck

I bought my first Avantree DG40S USB Bluetooth 4.0 Adapter Dongle for use on a Dell Precision 3510 laptop. The laptop has native internal bluetooth that never really worked well, but decided to stop working altogether when the laptop was upgraded to Windows 10. I use Skype at work extensively and I use several bluetooth headsets (Plantronics and Bose) to make voice calls and attend conference calls. Rather than send the laptop in for repair and lose the use of the system while it was in being repaired, I decided to try one of these Avantree DG40S USB dongles.. Within minutes of plugging the dongle into a USB port, I was back up and using Skype with no issues on the laptop. Ease of use and clarity using this dongle has been great. The second dongle I purchased was used to provide bluetooth connectivity for a QNAP TS-453B NAS that I own for personal use. This model NAS does not have native bluetooth and I wanted to be able to connect the NAS via bluetooth to some external BOSE bluetooth speakers so that I could play to music directly from the NAS using QNAP Music Station. As with the laptop running Windows 10, the NAS which runs Linux, worked great - plug and play. The most recent dongle that I purchased was for a Dell Optiplex 990 which I picked up used for my son to use as a personal system and to do some school work on. The system does not have native bluetooth and he wanted to be able to use the system with Skype and to also listen to music and play videos. After installing Windows 10 on this desktop, just as the other two systems, it was plug and play. I have personally had great success with these little dongles and have recommended them to others at work who have also encountered issues using bluetooth reliably on their laptops.

I have installed the adapter on a QNAP TS-251+ NAS. I bought this adapter/dongle because it was a certified device for this NAS. It is used to stream music to bluetooth devices. I have been using it for 3 days, and it has been working well. It has been running for about 6 hours each day. It has been working flawlessly without any cutouts, static, or any other problems with the sound. There was only one silence of about 1 second one time, and I am not sure if that was the adapter or something else. I was actually able to use two bluetooth devices at the same time without any issues. I connected a bluetooth speaker and a bluetooth headset to this adapter at the same time while listening to different streaming on each bluetooth device. There was no problem with the quality of sound/music on the speaker or the headset. Amazing... Speaker is sitting about 20 ft away from the adapter/dongle. For QNAP users: you don't need to install any drivers for this adapter on a QNAP NAS. Just plug it in, and it is ready to go.

Note: This is for the DG40S model, as I bought this for use on a Windows 7 PC. My goal was to find a USB Bluetooth adapter that would allow my PS4 DualShock 4 to connect to my PC without the need for DS4Windows software. Also note that the DG40SA being sold here is clearly advertised as not being compatible with Windows 7, so I didn't try that one. I am happy to report that everything is working perfectly! Though, as described here and on Avantree's site, this adapter is NOT exactly plug and play when used with Windows 7 (it apparently is with Windows 10), but it's close enough! Very simple to get working. Just go to their support site, click the DG40S icon, then look for the link labeled "Latest Driver for Windows 7." Before you click it, take note that there are also many useful support links here, in case you run into problems. When ready, click the Windows 7 driver link, and you'll see another new list of more helpful links, many of them with videos outlining the simple step-by-step install process. YOU MUST WATCH A VIDEO OR TWO HERE! It will only take a few minutes, promise. BUT WATCH BEFORE YOU INSTALL! Lol. It's just a series of left/right/double clicks that are required, takes no more than 2 minutes, but since their interface is so artistically done in a 1982 programming style, you'll save time if you just watch a vid first. NOTE: ALL STEPS OUTLINED IN THE VIDEOS REGARDING CONNECTION (key words: ALL TWO OR THREE STEPS) MUST BE DONE WHILE THE DUALSHOCK CONTROLLER IS IN PAIRING MODE! To enable this, hold down the center PS button and the Share button AT THE SAME TIME, for a few seconds, until the DualShock's light starts flashing. This means it's searching for Bluetooth devices to pair with. You might have to re-enter it into pairing mode if the lights stop flashing. Anyway, before you know it, your DualShock 4 will be connected - with great range, too. Has been working flawlessly after hours of gaming! As it turns out, I needed tech support for something I goofed up on (all that was needed was a restart of a couple things that I somehow missed). I called their support number (conveniently displayed on the main screen of their driver software after installation), and was almost immediately set up with the next tier of tech support via a live, screen-sharing conference! They sent me a link via email that directed me to download the Chrome extension called GoToMeeting Pro Screensharing. Pretty slick/legit extension, nice interface. Also had the ability for me to select specific windows for screensharing, or to just enable the sharing of my entire screen. Anyhow, a couple people on the phone walked me through a couple steps I somehow goofed up on (follow the steps above and you'll be fine, lol). They were super helpful and kind. Pretty amazing customer service, some of the best I've experienced from any company, no joke. Anyhow, if you're using this with Steam, make sure you follow online guides how to do it. Also ridiculously simple, just open up Steam, enter Big Picture Mode, click the settings gear button --> controller settings, then make sure the "PS4 Configuration Support" box is checked. You might have to restart Steam, or restart the controller's Bluetooth connection, but yeah still simple in the end, I was just in idiot mode for a few minutes there... Hope this helps!
