It's cheaper on the northern brewer website, I've had mine since November and honestly love it. Buy yeast energizer - the primary ferment will go much quicker and sparkoloid powder will help it clarify quicker. I've gotten enough of a routine down that the wines are drinkable within 2 to 3 weeks and as interesting as my combinations have gotten (blackberry w/ chocolate mint) I've not made a bad wine. Also: read the book through. There's a page with about 20 wine recipes. You can take those and adjust to what you want to make. The peach recipe works great with mango substituted and I'm clarifying a peach vanilla bean right now. And I'm just now needing some more of my additives (pectin enzyme). Do buy an extra carboy (I have 5, have only needed 3 at a time), hydrometer, test tube, yeast energizer, sparkoloid powder, sanitizer. Possibly replacement yeast, my 5 were expired.

Great for beginners

Everything need to get started.

I am very pleased with this kit. I did purchase the wine thief and vessel as well as the add on kit. I would suggest getting a second carboy as one might want to rack the wife several more times to get rid of all yeast (bad flavor) and make it clearer. Some suggest 2-3 times. Other than that it made short order of our Blackberries and hope to get enough to share with a few close friends. I have had wine that had a yeasty taste and know know why. Might filter some, but rest will rest for at least 3 months. Nice little kit, but add the wine thief/vessel and make sure to get bottles at some point. I would suggest the second carboy and wait on the bottles. Grandma always just poured hers into a one gallon jug and never messed with bottles. But she hated messing with the corks and most was used at holidays so never lasted.

This was for my girlfriend for Christmas. She loved it.

This kit works perfectly! Great way to start brewing
