We've tried MANY bark collars for our GSD, but could never find the right one. Some were shock only, some went off by themselves, others simply died after a few months. Petrainer has been the ONLY collar to work exactly as it is suppose to and it has changed our lives. Now, we can enjoy our time in the yard with our GSD without fear of her barking her head off at other dogs or people. The training guide was extremely helpful and within 1-2 days she was trained. If you are looking for a dependable, affordable and easy to use training collar then look no further! ** Our Petrainer stopped working 8 months after purchase. We did not register it for the free warranty and were hesitant to call the company since that was not their fault. However, my husband ended up calling them and without hesitation they replaced our collar for free!! Talk about excellent customer service!! Thank you Petrainer for such a great product and for standing behind it!!

We have been using this collar for some time now and can't express enough how awesome it is. We have a black lab puppy who is now 3 months old. Prior to getting the collar our pup was out of control and would not respond to any orders and we could not leave her off the leash as she would bolt. I started by taking her to a large field and taking her off the leash. She started to take off and I used the vibrate feature at 50%. She immediately turned around and came back to me. I then proceeded to walk with her and each time she started to get to far away I used only the beep and she returned to my side. Within about 15 minutes she stayed right by me while walking in the woods. We have a large interstate that borders our property and we walked in the woods just 50-100 feet off of the interstate and she stayed right by my side. To date we have only had to use the beep feature and never had to use the shock except for the one time where I accidentally shocked myself while adjusting the collar. It was good to know how the shock felt to the dog so try it if you are brave. Since then we have been using the beep for all sorts of training and it is working great. She no longer jumps on people when they come in the house. She does not jump on the couch anymore. She does not chase the cats. She does not chew on the furniture and many other bad habits are gone. The charge lasts an incredibly long time. We have had her in the pond on our property teaching her to play in the water and the collar was on her the entire time and zero issues. I honestly have not had any issues with this collar and I highly recommend it to anyone that has a dog or pup that needs training.

Updated review : After reviewing that I didn't have a great experience with the product, a customer service representative from the company contacted me and informed me that I'm still under warranty with the product and that they will automatically ship me a new package of replacement collars. That's so wonderful of a company to do that for a customer to meet satisfaction. I'm impressed. We received our replacement collars today and it all works well. I'm very pleased and I've updated the product to 5 stars. I'll update again when/if we use them in the water but I'm doubting we will try that again. 7/18 Review: We used them for about 6 months and had them on land mostly the entire time. We specifically sought these out because we wanted to be able to have control over our dogs off the leash at the beach ( getting wet). The very first time we let them go in the water with these collars we checked to make sure the collars had everything closed up on all the fittings and let them go in the water for short amounts of time. When the dogs were coming out of the water we heard our dog's collar just beeping constantly without us pressing anything and then it soon died and could not be turned back on or recharged. They work well on land but are not suitable for the water.

One of our dogs was very excitable and venturing to out of control. He would jump on people non stop, bark incessantly and when extremely excited would even try to bite me if I tried to correct him during his moments of extreme excitement. We knew we had to try something. We decided to try these collars. We have 2 dogs and one is laid back but was a barker and the other was as mentioned before. We received the collars and tested them to make sure they arrived in working order. They did and we charged them fully and we fitted the collars to both dogs. I didn’t think the audio would be sufficient so we started out on vibrate. When our overly hyper dog lovingly named buddy lost his mind when someone came to the door I hit the correction button and it vibrated and he laid out flat on the floor like he had been shot. We left the rubber covers on the shock probes so we didn’t accidentally shock him. His response to the vibration was immediate. I had it set to a vibration setting if 60. Tomorrow marks one week we have been using these collars and he is a COMPLETELY different dog in just one week. We use these collars with commands. So when someone comes in and he jumps on them, we say sit. If he doesn’t sit we vibrate the collar again and say sit until he sits. Which only takes 3-5 seconds. Within one week he has stopped losing his mind when people come to the door and he has stopped his barking. We also use this to correct his digging in the back yard. Last night we had company come over and he didn’t have his collar on and he didn’t jump or bark when company came over. When he started to get excited as the evening went on he responded to verbal commands only and settled down. He still has a long way to go but I will say these collars are amazing if you don’t want to shock your dog even though the option is there. We have only had them a week so I can’t soeak to longevity or durability just yet. I will update this if we experience any issues.

This is my third Petrainer over the past few years as the other ones have met various fates such as losing the transmitters etc. These are very effective at keeping "radio contact" with my very active Australian Shepard. All I usually do is "beep" him or occasionally vibrate and he stops whatever behavior he is locked into and comes to me. We went without one for a few months, but he started ignoring our commands more and more. Now he wears his Petrainer every day and he is much more well adjusted and well behaved. Don't think you need to use the shock setting except for severe situations. I use it only as a last result, and remember when using it, timing is everything.. As for the build quality, I think there could be some improvements to the clip on the transmitter (I have lost 2 transmitters because of the clip) Otherwise these are of exceptional quality. The water proof model gets tested every day in the summer with our dog swimming in salt and fresh water. Never has failed due to water.

I bought this in August 2016 for my GSP, who often gets too focused on her own interests to acknowledge verbal commands. I really like the versatility of this device: beep only, vibrate or shock with intensities ranging from zero to 100. I always start off with just the vibrate and most often, that is enough to get her attention. She can also be a nuisance barker when she has spotted prey and can continue to bark at the spot long after the animal has fled the scene. I tried multiple other methods to break her of that habit and get her attention with no results. I have yet to go higher than the 50 setting on either vibrate or shock and it's enough to do the job. I've tested the shock on my inner forearm and thigh... it definitely gets your attention at 50, but is not harmful. ANY shock collar must be used correctly though... please educate yourself if you have not yet done so. It is now June 2017 and the collar randomly started beeping the other night. Charging it did not solve the problem. The beeping did eventually stop and the collar *seems* to work normally after going through 2 reset cycles, but I shot i-Tronics an email anyway. Their customer service is FANTASTIC. They asked for my order number and shipping address and are sending a replacement at no cost and I do not need to return the faulty device. Their site states this replacement policy is in effect for 5 years from the purchase of your device. I'm accepting the replacement in an abundance of caution in case the unit I have is actually wonky. I would absolutely suggest this unit and company to other dog friends!

I've had this collar for about two months and it is hands down the best purchase I have ever made. My girlfriend and I love to take our dog on off-leash walks on our local nature trail. She's a hound and can get easily distracted when something grabs her attention, and it was getting to the point where she would completely ignore us when we told her to come back. We were both at our wit's end, so I started doing extensive research for a collar. We DO NOT shock her. We only use the vibrate. I am absolutely amazed with how this collar has turned her around. All it took was one warning vibration, and she has never looked back. It gives us both peace of mind. The collar is definitely waterproof. We've taken our dog into a river that runs in our off-leash park almost every time we've gone there, (which is at least 4 times a week) and we haven't had any issues with the collar malfunctioning. And believe me, my girl takes off at a full run and throws herself into the deepest spot she can find. About two weeks after we began using this, we ran into a woman at the park who had lost her dog and was frantically searching for it. After promising we could keep an eye out, my girlfriend and I both looked at each other and said how grateful we were to have such peace of mind, thanks to this product. A side note: For any reviewer complaining about their dogs getting burned when the collar has been on for more than 15-24 hours, there is a warning in the instructions stating you should never leave it on for more than 12 hours at a time. If you're looking for a 24 hour a day behavioral collar, this is not the product for you. And for any reviewer stating their dog got burned if they shocked them while submerged in water, please use your common sense: Electricity + water do not mix.

I was skeptical at first. We have a 4 month old German shorthaired pointer that was an absolute LUNATIC. She would jump all over us when we were on the couch. If we were in the front yard with no leash she would take off and not listen to any of my commands. When she was in the back yard and wanted to come in she would scratch at the back door which now has holes in it because of her. It was a nightmare. Last night I put the collar on and started with the beep function. She didn't respond much to the beep so I moved to the vibrate function. I set it at 10/100 and that didn't get her attention so I bumped it to 35. She immediately knew something was wrong and stopped scratching the back door. After a few minutes she started back and once I pressed the button she stopped. This morning I took her out front with no leash and let her roam. When she got close to the street or neighbor's yards I used the vibrate function and she would turn around and come back in the yard. I backed these warnings with the "come" command. She has also been alot calmer on the couch and been a joy to have in my lap. In one day she has almost done a complete 180. I have only had to use the shock once and do not recommend using it unless absolutely necessary. I love this product!

I have used E Collars in the past, the older ones which have only a tone and shock. I bought this collar to use as a training tool, to help reinforce what I am teaching my dog. Delivery was prompt, I have received several emails from the company, making sure that I am happy with the product, to remind me that they have a 5 year warranty, there are additional training tips in the email, and they also are including their customer service number in the email. I find that it is great that the company is standing by their product and is concerned that their customers are happy with the product and that the products is being used as INTENDED. I have had great luck with this collar, it was easy to set up, instructions are very clear, nothing confusing regarding how to set up the collar. The way I am using this collar, I use the tone or static stimulation, and when my dog has gone away from me, I press the proper button and say Schultz Come, as soon as he starts toward me I tell him good boy and take my finger off the button, when he comes to me I make it a big deal and give him treats, (he had been ignoring us when we would tell him to come). Jumping up, as soon as he starts to jump up I press the button and tell him Schultz off, it stops him immediately. Something I hate is him grabbing my feet when I walk, I am using the shock on 5 for this and I tell him no as soon as he goes after my feet. He is playing, but, this is an unacceptable behavior and the collar is stopping him. After a week, there is a marked improvement, this is not a cure all, but, a tool, you still have to spend time with your dog, working with him/her to gain the desired behaviors you want, and to get rid of the undesired behaviors. This is not cruel, IF used properly. Like the instructions say, keep your training sessions short, and IMHO ALWAYS end on a positive note. This collar IS waterproof, my dog has been swimming several times with the collar on and it still works exactly as intended. My ONE complaint: I hate the strap, I would have gladly paid a little bit more for a nylon strap which would make it much easier to put on and take off, and I feel like once I get it on the strap seems to stretch a little and I then need to adjust it again. Overall a great training tool, but make sure you are fair to your dog, and WORK with your dog with the collar on, don't just put the collar on and expect it to suddenly change your dog into an angel.

I have a 7 month old Great Dane who is a 85lb puppy. I needed help with him jumping on me, my daughter, getting in the garbage and chasing my cats. Typical things but I was having trouble with him listening to me. The pet trainer is my new best friend. He started responding instantly. It has 3 ways to train your dog. The beep, the vibration or the shock. Only had to use the shock very low when get was chasing the cats. Now when he hears the beep or feels the vibration he stops and rethinks his behavior. Best decision I have made in a while. I definitely recommend this trainer if you have a dog that you love but just needs a little help in the behavior department.
