Good lock, good cable.

Purchased the lock to secure an office-use lap top. Quality is good, lock is tight, and cable long enough to secure it through a hole in the middle of the kitchen-counter sized desk and out of the hole onto the laptop. Good lock.

New to this type off thing.

Lock and cable look very good. Looks like the only way to get the computer is break the computer or break what the cable is connected to. Took me a moment to connect lock on computer. Seeing I have never used anything like this. It is-not difficult to use. Not take much space is needed to store and transport.

Higher quality than expected for price.

Used this to chain my laptop to the bedframe in my hotel while we went out in London. The mechanism seemed sturdier than I expected. The lock turned smoothly. It felt very well-made. Of course, none of these will help you much when someone is actually trying to steal your stuff; it's more to prevent crimes of opportunity than actual intent. Wouldn't hold up to a wire cutter, I hear.

Solid basic security cable for your laptop

It does exactly what it is supposed to do. There is nothing special to say. I use it so I can keep my work laptop on my desk at work overnight sometimes. But it would work well if you are also going to be at like a Starbucks and need to leave the table a minute to use the restroom and don't have someone to watch your computer on the table. Or if you are at a computer workshop and want to leave your laptop on the table in the room during lunch break.

Good lock

My work laptop got stollen my first week on the job. I move around from 100s of different sites and constantly work remotely. After my laptop got stollen and I got a replacement, I quickly looked for some added security measures and found this lock online. I bought it and started using it right away. The cord is pretty stiff but it seems super secure. My coworkers call me “bike lock” and I carry around keys for my laptop but jokes on them because with this lock my portable electronic computer isn’t going anywhere and I can spend my time doing better things than filling out police reports.

works as advertised

This does exactly what it is supposed to do, that is, lock anything with a standard "kensington" opening commonly found on laptops. My only slight concern is that the lock itself is attached to the cable with what appears to be a rivet. The rivet could be chopped off, I believe. But then with the right tool, the cable could be cut as well, so this device is really more of a deterrent than absolute protection against all efforts to break it. I use it to chain my laptop to the table during trade shows, and for such a purpose it is perfect.

Easy to use and fit my Dell laptop perfectly.

I got this 6 foot security cable to keep my laptop from walking away while I was keeping it at a non-profit. I'm not worried about theft... just want to make sure nobody "borrows" it and forgets to put it back. These cables will keep such a thing from happening, but they are not a fool proof theft protection. None of them are. with a screwdriver and enough force, anybody can break them free. The purpose is to deter the casual thief or "borrower", and this cable does the trick for a very economical price. Why pay more for a super thick expensive cable when the weakest link is that little tab that goes into the computer. This completely met my expectations. Thank you!

Great lock, didn't fit my laptop

This appears to be a super lock for the price. Unfortunately for me I believed the Costco description for my Acer Spin 5 that said it has a Kensington lock slot. But no. I has a Noble lock slot. So I ordered one that fits, and rather than return the Ruban I gave it to a friend who has a computer that it will fit. She loves it. Nothing like helping cement a friendship!

Buy this one - you're done looking.

This doesn't feel cheap at all. The packaging it came in was Apple quality - someone put a lot of thought into a box for a lock. On security, it does the trick in a very simple, easy to use way. Sure, anyone with a mini bolt cutter could cut right through this, but for deterrence value, it's perfect. The cable length is perfect for locking to a table leg or locking loop (my library has them built in to study carrels). The cable is flexible enough that you can move the computer easily without having to touch the cable, but stiff enough that it doesn't look like you could break it without tools.

This product is actually better than I was anticipating. It feels sturdy and has good weight to it. I am confident it will be an effective theft deterrent just by its looks and an effective preventative by its quality. I am extremely pleased!.
