*** 9/10/16 EDIT *** On its 3rd shallow water hunt, the pinpointer would false constantly. At first only when held tip down, then all the time. Turns out it appears to have leaked. It has been sent off to garrett for warranty evaluation and HOPEFULLY a full replacement. Will post an update once I hear back from the factory. Used a Bounty Hunter unit for a year which wore out and false anytime the tip had pressure applied to it. This is twice the price or more of the BH unit and guess what. IT IS WORTH EVERY CENT! The led is quickly covered in dirt but may help with underwater hunts. The sensitivity and ability to adjust the sensitivity is outstanding compared to the BH unit. It is waterproof to 10 ft if im not mistaken, high visibility orange, gives a locator beep if left on. At this point I have no idea why I even bothered with the BH. This thing is hands down incredible and a great value.

If you metal detect, you probably know how great this tool is. If you are new to metal detecting, you will be happy to no end that you make this purchase. Do not hesitate. Its water proof and just plain handy for locating your "hit", it just makes it much faster to find your treasure! No detectorist will be without one of these babies. The bag that comes with the pinpointer is awesome. You can wear it and have all you need with you on your quest.

Love this Pinpointer. Looks like it is going to hold up with rugged use. Like bright color, keeps me from losing it by leaving it behind. Bag very handy and light. Holster secures to bag well but detector has slipped out of holster a few times. Possibly because I always put it back hurriedly to free up both hands. Not a deal breaker, I just need to holster it carefully. It's the best I've ever used.

This is most awesome! I love how you can lower the sensitivity with a few taps, it helps so much in locating the nugget quickly. I gave away my other one as this meets all my needs now! Even used it to locate wiring in the walls and screws to know where studs are. I'm going to use it at work to find where the screws nuts and washers are dropped in the weeds ( I work outdoors).

Garrett has really stepped up and fixed the problems from the last pi pointer. The pro Pointer AT works great, no more false signals, built sturdy and made to last a long time

Love and love this pin pointer. When initially looking at pointers everyone kept telling me to buy a Garrett and go for the orange one they refer to as the "Carrot" since it's waterproof. I have used it for quite a few hours now, but have not tried submersing it. I have it set for vibrate only since the sounds are pretty loud and when your detecting around lots of people it keeps it from drawing attention and gawkers. It has quite a few settings for sound and vibration. I think on vibrate mode it uses the battery quicker because I've already had to replace the batteries from the ones sent with the device. It's very durable and has worked out great for me. I would highly recommend this one.

I seriously do not know how anyone could metal detect without this saves so much time and effort extremely durable used it under water several times no flaws believe me this is a no-brainer it's $137 but if you're serious metal detector you don't be without this. I also like the pouch its holds the pointer nicely and my hori hori knife along with a hand towel and a toothbrush extra batteries no problems for an extra $10 it's also a no-brainer

Man I love this thing! Just had our Garage poured (dirt floor (country living) for the last 13 years). The crew left all their funky form nails scattered all over the place plus a giant pile of pulverized concrete whatever that stuff was that had thin re bar-like wire mixed in it. Not cool. Little Back history - we have a long rocked drive (1/2 mile plus) and, when we built this place - and built the drive into this place, we thought it would be 'frugal' to use crushed concrete for drive rock. I strongly urge everyone to NEVER DO THIS. We are Still finding the occasional rebar scrap in the road 20+ years later. No lie - that *** sucks, and cost us a dealers salary to fix all those flat tires. And why didn't we think to buy a metal detector way back then? Because we were dumb... So. We spent the first night after the pour until dark trying to find the nails, collected around 25. The next day I bought this and had it over-nighted, just in time to do a thorough sweep before the crew came back to finish up (found about 10 more). It was ready for use right out of the box. Turned it on and away we went. So glad we got this. Saved us another swamp of flat tires.... It works amazingly well. This is our first metal detector, and I was able to quickly garner that Garrett is a top brand. I am not disappointed. This thing is crazy accurate. Played with it after all was said and done and found stuff from a decade or more ago (junky stuff from the original construction in 1996/97). I have so far found stuff as far down as roughly 4 to 4 1/2 inches in the ground -- a pretty small 1/2 inch, very thin staple-like whatever. I dug up globs of dirt and stuck the wand in the hole until it quit going off - then checked the mud clods until I found it. I didn't even see it when the wand said it was there. I had to pull the clod apart. Tiny staple. Cool....lol.... Will take this on our next vaca and let the kids see what they can find. We are totally satisfied.

Carry the instruction manual with you the first couple times out hunting with it until you get used to it. It took a little getting used to when adjusting though settings. Turning off was a bit off a pain out of the box. Its is an extremely solid pin-pointer. Works very well. The power button is stronger/better made then the original pointer. The bright orange color that does not get lost in leaves and muck. I love the adjustable sensitivity setting. I LOVE that it is waterproof. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the silenced mode so you do not draw attention to yourself while hunting in and around public (onlookers come over hearing my old garrett pointer alert sound).

Works like advertised. No negatives. If you think you are going to go metal detecting without a pinpointer, plan on spending a lot of wasted time sifting through dirt or sand.
