I was a little hesitant to order this umbrella because of the "AmazonBasics" label. Frankly, I was concerned about the quality. But it got such great reviews that I decided to take a chance. I'm so glad that I did! This umbrella is heavy duty, without being complete overkill or bulky. The nylon fabric is thick and much heavier than any of the other umbrellas I've ever owned. The handle has a nice grip to it, too. The push button open/close feature works perfectly. It's a little bit tough to push the telescopic handle back down after closing the umbrella, but nothing that can't be easily overcome. The absolute only complaint I can come up with is that the umbrella won't easily go back into the nylon sleeve that it comes in. It's a little bit of a bummer, but certainly not a deal breaker. The only other thing to keep in mind is that this is not a super lightweight model. It might not be suitable to keep in a bag at all times. But I would imagine the weight is due to the superior materials used to make it. Overall, I'm very pleasantly surprised by the quality of this umbrella, and will probably purchase one or two more to keep in our vehicles. Thanks, Amazon! * Keep in mind that if my opinion of this product changes after using it over time, I will absolutely update my review to reflect that. Also note that I paid full price for this item.

So what can I say? This umbrella is fairly sturdy and the automatic mechanism for opening and closing is quite fantastic... The frame of the umbrella is sturdy as well. However, it is a little heavy for an umbrella if weight is an issue. It's definitely a bargain at ~$17 and you should buy one! My only two gripes are that the wrist strap is a little cheap feeling and the "AmazonBasics" logo on the velcro strap is not pleasant to look at... I love AmazonBasics products, they are some of the best bargain-to-quality products, but that logo is hideous. Anyway, you can easily remove the logo on the velcro strap by carefully getting rid of the thread that attaches to it, and BAM you got yourself one fine looking umbrella.

Sturdy enough to keep my 5 year old dry but took some training and practice for use. Hard to push button open and close and then push umbrella down to click shut. With a little training she was successful. Compact and lightweight enough for her to throw in her backpack.

Very compact and a perfect fit for a larger glove compartment or to slot into the door map pocket (it's a perfect fit in my car). I like to keep a full-size umbrella in the trunk, but this is the perfect balance of strength and compactness which might result in me using the trunk umbrella less often (as I've typically only resorted to the passenger compartment umbrella when the rain demands protection as soon as exiting the car).

This is a sturdy umbrella that opens and closes easily, with speed and with gusto. The handle is comfortable and just large enough. The wind panel works well. I ordered two of these umbrellas to take to rainy Scotland, which means I don't want an umbrella to use from my parked car to a store, I want one that is designed for serious rain and some wind and this is just right. I am very happy with it and I HAVE NOT been compensated in any way for this favorable yet unbiased review.

I saw these on wirectter and it was a great purchase. It's cheap but reliable, it's light enough I don't mind carrying it on my commute, and it works really well. I've never had issues with it flipping inside out, and it still seems like it's got quite a while before I ever have to worry about it giving out on me. The size is also nice, I wouldn't want to always use it as a two-person umbrella but in a pinch, this would do just fine.

I live in NYC, and this has stood up well to the winds and storms. It is my main umbrella I bring when I know it's going to be raining. It's a bit too big to fit into my bag, so its the umbrella I carry when I know I'm going to use it. It can auto-close itself, which tends to impress people. I feel like a spy, or a cyborg (or a cyborg spy) when I close the umbrella in front of people..

I live in So. California where I don't use an umbrella all that often. Bought this umbrella to take to New York City over the Thanksgiving weekend. So glad I did. It fit into my backpack perfectly. The test was the Monday night rainstorm. Powerful wind gusts were tunneling through 56th street. This umbrella was so strong, I thought I was going to become airborne a couple of times. Other people's umbrellas were flipping inside out and breaking. At the corner of 56th and 6th Ave. the trash receptacle was overflowing with broken discarded umbrellas - never saw anything like that before. This umbrella - still going strong. I do need to take a 1/2 point off for construction. The ribs are reinforced and seem very well made. However, the torque on the spring is great for automatic opening, but makes it difficult to close and lock it in. I noticed that it became easier the more I used it. Finally figured out that using two hands works better to pull the knob on the shaft down to lock the umbrella closed. Amazon might want to create a small video showing how to do that Overall, I'm very pleased with this umbrella.

Because of ordering foul-ups I wound up with two. It took quite a bit of back-and-forth with Amazon to figure out and resolve the problem, but they did and gave me and RA to return the 2nd one. In the meantime, however, my girlfriend was so impressed by the open/close and the wind gussets (Is that what they're called? Whatever) that she grabbed the 2nd one before I could send it back. So beware - you may lose this to an admiring friend and an offer you can't refuse. Bonus: fits easily back into its carrying sleeve. OTOH if weight is critical, the extra features add some weight. (Doesn't bother me - I mean us). And pushing in the telescoping shaft against the spring that activates the auto open might possibly be difficult for someone with serious arthritis in hand/wrist?? Also, it's only been 2 weeks and a couple uses. If durability issues surface, I'll edit this review.

It's super windy here at any time of the year. It doesn't rain often but it can be torrential when it does. What I want an umbrella for is protection from the brutal sun. I have to walk 8-10 minutes between buildings several times a day. No sunscreen is really good for that unless I want to be the only professional here with a zinc oxide nose. I have run through 4 small travel umbrellas because the wind just beats them to death. Even this new vented umbrella has turned inside out twice so far, but that's many fewer times than any other umbrella has. I do wish it was a little smaller and came in more colors.
